Thanks for everybody's help. I checked the case number from the biometrics notice online and are case is still being processed.

Hi - My wife and I applied to remove the conditions on her green card with the VSC in December 2008. The NOA1 date is 12/24/2008. I just went online to check the case status and the website reports that the case cannot be found. I also called the 800 number and the automated system cannot find the case. Should I be concerned that the USCIS has somehow lost our paperwork?

Hello everybody. I am almost finished with the packet for my wife's I-751. Please let me know if you think I have provided enough evidence:
-Copy of front and back of her green card
-Copies of both of our driver's licenses showing we live at the same address
-Copy of our health insurance card that shows we are on the same plan
-Copy of our credit cards showing we are on the same account
-Copies of our credit card bills. I took four bills from 2007 and four bills from 2008
-Copies of our bank statements. I took four statements from 2007 and four from 2008
-IRA accounts listing my wife as the beneficiary
-Copies of our tax returns from 2006 and 2007
-Copies of our electric bill from 2008. I put the account in both of our names in June of 2008 and showed every bill since then
-Copies of our phone bill. I used four bills from 2007 and four bills from 2008
-Itineraries and boarding passes for five trips that we have taken together since we got married
-2 pictures from each trip that we have taken together
-Our holiday card for this year that we are sending to friends
-2 affidavits from friends who have known us since before we were married
Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I am self-employed and I sent three years of my 1040's, W-2's, and Schedule E's in with the I-864. I did not send any of my corporate tax returns because the instructions on the form do not indicate they are required.

I am putting the finishing touches on the packet for my wife's AOS, EAD, and AP. Will somebody please let me know if the list below includes everything I need for the I-131:
-Payment of $170
-Form I-131
-Copy of Passport Identity Page
-Copy of K-1 Visa
Thanks

I am almost finished with the packet for the AOS, EAD, and AP documents and I have one last question.
My wife hasn't been added to my checking account yet because we are still waiting for her SSN. Is it okay if the check for the payment is from my bank account or would we be better off to get a money order?
Thanks

Thanks for the info! I just read the instructions again and noticed what you are talking about.

I am in the process of filling out the I-765 for my wife and noticed that question 16 asks for the eligibility code. When I looked up the eligibility code on the form, it says (a)(6). The example on VisaJourney says ©(9). Am I doing something wrong or is the example form incorrect?
Thanks

Can I use the I-864EZ form if I am applying for AOS for a K-1 visa? I read a few posts on this forum where people have used it, but the actual form says it can only be used in conjunction with an I-130.
Thanks

Hi,
I am starting the process of filling out the green card papers for my wife and I have a couple of questions about the G-325A form.
1. On the box at the bottom of the form, should I choose Naturalization or Status as Permanent Resident? It seems like I would choose Permanent Resident, but the example form on this site says Naturalization.
2. My wife is from Japan and she needs to write her name in her native alphabet. She is changing her last name to my last name. Does this mean that she writes her new last name or her maiden name?
Thanks

I bought my fiance (at the time) a temporary insurance plan from MultiNational Underwriters. The website is www.mnui.com

I sent that information to my fiancee for her interview. They didn't ask for it, but I think it is better to have and not need than to need and not have.

I am leaving in a few hours to go to Japan and spend time with my fiancee's family and then we will fly back together. It is so amazing that this is finally happening!!! When I am going through immigration in Japan, should I tell them that I am there to pick up my fiancee or just avoid the subject altogether?
Thanks
-
Congratulations on starting the process! If I were you, I would not add her to your bank account. That might lead them to believe that you guys are already married. For our proof of an ongoing relationship at the interview, my fiance brought phone records for the four months between application and interview, one email per week for the same time period, and pictures of us together in Japan when I was there. You don't need to go overboard!

I just read the instructions on the SS-5 about applying for a SSN Card and I have a question about the identification that is required. The instructions say that they prefer documents issued in the US, but the only US document that my fiancee has is her K-1 Visa.
I'd like to know what other people brought with them when they applied for the SSN with a K-1 visa.
Thanks in advance.

I'll be flying to Japan in two weeks to spend a week with my future in laws and to fly back with my fiancee. Is there anything we need to do in order to be prepared for the POE? She has all of her papers ready and I believe she also has the big brown envelope.
Thanks

Thanks for the link! That gave me all the information I needed.

My fiancee is moving here next month and has started to pack some of her stuff. She will be sending clothes, CDs, DVDs, and other stuff like that. Do we need to declare this stuff when she enters the country even though it is arriving separately? Also, will we have to pay taxes on these items?
Thanks

Has this ever caused any problems at the border? My fiancee is moving to America next month on her K-1 visa and we will apply for the green card after we get married. I am probably thinking too far ahead, but has anybody ever run into a problem with the green card having her married last name while her passport has her maiden last name?
Thanks

Hey everybody. I will be booking our flights tonight for my trip to Japan to bring my fiancee back with me. I have a couple of questions about the POE process.
1. Will a two hour layover give us enough time to go through immigration on a late Saturday afternoon?
2. I have read about people having problems in Detroit. We will need to switch planes there. Does anybody know if Detroit is still a bad POE location?
Thanks!

Congratulations!!!!

Thanks everybody! I'll go ahead and purchase a round trip tickets so I can save about $1500.

My fiancee had got her K1 visa in the mail yesterday so now we are going to book a flight for her to move to the US. It is actually cheaper to buy a round trip ticket than a one way tickets so I would like to know if there will be any problems at the POE if she has a round trip ticket.
Has anybody else here entered the US on a K1 visa with a round trip ticket?

My fiancee just had her K1 visa approved in Japan on Monday so the next thing we will need to deal with is the AOS for the green card. A guy I work with moved to the US from Holland and he said he had an attorney help him out for his green card. I used this great website as a resource for the K1 process and was wondering if people on here would recommend getting a lawyer for the Green Card process.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Approval Letter Received But Case Status Still Pending
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
Hi - my wife received her approval letter exactly one month ago. We filed at the VSC, but the approval letter came from the local Atlanta office. When I check her case status online, it says that the case is still pending. Has anybody else experienced this before? We need to change our address because we recently moved, but we can't change an address on a case that has been approved. Now I am confused as to if our case really is approved.
