expiration date of petition - because we had to wait 2 months for the interview, ours was going to expire 8 days after the interview and I wasn't ready to go yet!
-
thanks!! & congrats!!
if you dont mind could you give us some more details about your experience & what they seemed very interested in knowing?? Thanks!!
They wanted:
- all my identification info (birth cert, passport, police check) and Larissa's affadavit of support with financial info attached
- revalidation letter from Larissa, as I wanted to travel later than the expiration date
- In the interview portion (which took about 10 minutes) they asked where we met, if we were living together when we were in Australia, where we were going to live in the US. They didn't ask for any proof of relationship. *I don't think it matters if you have lived together or not, but in case we have bounced between countries and travelled separately for periods, so I think the interviewer was just trying to get a sense of the past year.
It was seriously so relaxed! I got my passport 4 business days later.

I read that if the date had expired or was going to expire soon, you bring a letter to the interview from your fiance and they extend the date. I don't know about giving you an extension before the interview. It might be worth emailing support@ustraveldocs.com and asking.
For what it's worth, the time from our NOA2 and interview was about 2 months, so they give you plenty of notice about your interview time.

We needed an extension too, due to it taking so long to get an appointment at the embassy. I just brought a signed letter from my partner stating that she was still willing and able to marry me, and intended to do so once I arrived. She dated it pretty close to the interview date. They were happy enough with that and approved our visa.

Your case sounds a little more complex than most due to your partner's job. It might be worth making an appointment with an immigration lawyer - they would be able to advise you best on how to proceed.

So I had my interview in Sydney last week and our visa was approved!
Re: proof of relationship - they didn't even look at any of my proof! They just asked me about where we met, got a basic timeline of our relationship, and where we were going to live in the US - that's it!
I am holding onto all the proof of relationship paperwork though, just in case the US officials want to look at it in the interview later on down the track

I think it was about a week for them to send it to consulate? They called me a few days after the interview to let me know they were sending it, and gave me a tracking number so I could make sure it got there. I had a really good experience with Medibank in Melbourne - the doctor and receptionists there were all very helpful and nice.

My understanding is they request additional proof to confirm you have continued contact with your fiancé since you first lodged your petition.
I'm bringing 2 documents that show Larissa and I living at the same address in Sydney (from before she went back to California last month), 2 flight itineraries with both our names on it, 3 emails, 3 photos (including one of us with my family at Christmas). All intineraries, emails and photos have been since we initially filed in December.
I know some people compile WAY more than this - but of all the Sydney embassy reviews, not one person has reported being really scrutinized over this, and some people don't even have it looked at! Unless they really doubt your relationship I don't think they are going to want to spend half an hour looking through photos and emails. My advice would be pick a few items that clearly show your relationship contact in the last 6 months and take them. You said you've got a joint bank account - I would take in a letter from the bank manager stating who is on the account and when you opened it (we don't have a joint account but I just think it looks good on your application!). Honestly I think the relationship proof thing is really only a problem for people that are falsifying a relationship.

You can get the medical done at any of the approved centres: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/panel_physicians.html
I saw Dr Stephanie Dickinson at Medibank in Melbourne (William St) and she was great - easy going, understanding of a medical condition I have and assured me it was of no consequence to my visa.
-
Ah never mind above post - the person I spoke to at Medibank gave me the wrong info! It's still Medibank that provide the tests.
-
Hey just an update on this list (it seems to be constantly changing): I called Medibank in Victoria for an appointment and they informed me they were no longer handling visa medicals. They said BUPA is now doing it - called BUPA and they said they only do Canadian Visas!

I didn't receive any word after my NOA2 for a month, so I emailed ustraveldocs and within 2 days I had an interview date set.
-
Cameron84 I would like to try for an earlier appointment too - what number are you going to call? I've found it difficult to find direct phone numbers.
-
I wonder if there's any way to request an earlier interview? Anyone tried that?

29th Sept was the date given to me. Wish it was sooner!
The medibank in Sydney was listed up until very recently; no idea why they took it down!

Hi everyone,
I noticed in the past few months a few people asking about the visa medical and what doctors you can go to. Just in case anyone else is searching for that info, here is the list of approved physicians - these are the ONLY doctors that are approved to do the medical for the visa:

I got my interview for Sept 29th! Looking forward to getting to the U.S

HI there guys,
In regards to lileepad's question - I noticed you asked this in June so it's probably too late for you to use this info but just in case anyone else is looking for the info, here is the list of authorised doctors (i.e. the only ones you can use for your visa medical:

Hi everyone,
My partner Larissa (American) and I have received our NOA2 and have started preparing our paperwork for the interview. I have never been married but Larissa has - do I need to bring her marriage and divorce certificates? I've found conflicting information online and I'm worried because she no longer has originals.
Thanks,
Eloise.
What is Packet 4???

yes something like that. I don't fully understand the specifics, I just brought a signed dated letter from my partner saying she was still willing and able to marry me when I come to US
