Wow that's super close!!! Cheers and positive energy headed you way :) Best of luck

Thanks a lot for your nice wishes! and good luck also for you guys in your path.

WOW...it's so close! I wish you the best!

I would call them today if you have not done so. It is only a day or two and you get your case number!!

Thanks a lot! i was surprised too... there was a closer one (march 16th), but my medical is until the 20 ... right now dying and nervous :P

  2. Awesome news, Rio consulate finally e-mailed us! My interview will be on April 7! Already! Omg, so many things to look, book tickets, hotel etc...

Yay Samlog! congratulations i really hope everything goes great in the interview! and since it is in Rio maybe you can celebrate your approval as it is supposed to be celebrated (i love Rio)!!! ...and i almost can feel your excitement... our interview seems to be for March24th.. but we are still trying to decided if that's the best date for James to come to attend the interview with me, since his workload has been very busy lately... hopefully we will join your joy by knowing for sure the interview date soon.

    Regards!

  3. Thank you guys for all the help!

And now I am confused... I emailed the embassy to check if I could do my medical now. They said to wait until I got medical and interview instructions from NVC. I thought the embassy would give me those instructions not the NVC...

I'm currently in the US until March 23rd but since we know our papers will be stuck at NVC for a while we figured we can extend my stay until around April 25. But I am worried NVC will start kicking into high gear again now that spring since to arrive and suddenly I'll be here in the states with instructions to do a medical and a date for our interview... But I should be fine to stay until april 25 right? There's no chance I can get a visa interview before that? I mean even getting a case number from NVC takes 2 weeks from USCIS shipping them to NVC right? and they haven't even done that yet... Yes, I am an expert on worrying...

Hi Maria and Seve! (btw congrats for your NOA2), so they are right... you are not allow ideally to do your medical appointment until you get the Case Number from the NVC, AND until the Embassy gets your case from the NVC.... So making the story short! i just recomend you to check your Embassy/Consulate common instructions that you can find at the Portal Section in Visa Journey... For example, for Colombia we don't specifically need the instructions from the Embassy to get the medical, but is a MUST TO provide to the doctor the NVC Case Number to schedule any medical appointment and Labs.

Talking about your trip i think it is just like gambling! once again, for example in my case for us we took 2 weeks to get our NVC Number Case (NOA2 Feb3 - NVC # Feb 17), and another 2 weeks later we got our case in Bogota's US Embassy with the instructions (March 2nd)... so basically around one month since NOA2 to get the case in our hands and work with it. Not telling you this will be your case also! But you can get it "fast" like my case did, or not so fast as many cases here are going through.

I think at this point you need to realize it will be soon in your hands, and you need to relax, take your time and do the thing right! you waited the longer, then wait the shorter and enjoy your visit to US... you'll be together soon.

    Regards.

  4. 17 days still at NVC

That's so bad LoveInGhana :( what they said at the NVC? :( be patient and hang in there! i've been struggling a lot with the DS160, it supposed to not be so complicated but well... hopefully next week i'll schedule the appointment. At this point i can suggest you to maybe start the DS160 and make sure you have all the documentation, so you when it gets to you will be less the time and only work into get your interview appointment.

    Regards

  5. My NVC website says 'ready'. But I haven't got any 'packets'. Should I just wait for the embassy to call my fiancé?

Yes, you or your fiancé should wait for an email/Package with the instructions or a call to ask you an email/address to send them... I waited 1 week exactly from the NVC Changed my case to "Ready" until we got the email with the instructions from the Embassy. However, this could be different since it depends in the consulate/Embassy administration. I highly suggest you to read about your Consulate/Embassy in the Portals Section in Visa Journey.

    Good luck!

    Regards

  6. My fiancée was able to talk to someone via the Skype ustraveldocs contact. They said there was an issue with the website not accepting K-1 appointments. They escalated the issue to the embassy and we're supposed to hear back in a day or two. The embassy has posted on their twitter account "Estamos trabajando de forma normal." - we are working normally. Keeping my fingers crossed...

i'm praying for you guys to get solve this soon and can continue your path, hopefully it is just a system error that can be solve easily.

  7. Hi everyone, how do you guys get into the NVC website...

    this info should help you...

Information needed when you call NVC:

*You can't use the self-help feature to see if your case number has been assigned. The K-1 is a hybrid/Immigrant visa, depending who is handling it, and only Non-Immigrant visas can use this phone feature.*

    1. Dial 1-603-334-0700

    2. If you get a message saying "Due to the high call volume", just hang up. It will disconnect you in a few minutes anyway.

    3. Keep calling back until you hear a different message. Ignore the message as long as it isn't "Due to high call volume"

    4. Press 2

    5. At this point you should be in the queue - you can have a significant wait time here (both times I got someone it was after 45 minute waits). There is no callback feature like there was for USCIS.

    6. When you get the agent, you may be able to tell right off the bat if they have your case. Once they ask you your USCIS case number "SRCxxxxxxxxxx" they may ask you one of two things..

    a. Did you receive an approval letter? What is the notice date of that letter? (This tends to mean they don't have your case yet, they will tell you to give them 35 days. There is no point arguing it since they really don't have the case yet)

    b. They will ask you to verify details - this seems to mean that they have your case and most likely have a case number assigned!

    7. The information they will want:

    a. Petitioner name (beneficiary cannot call) and they will ask if you are the applicant

    b. Beneficiary's name

    c. Beneficiary's birthdate

    d. Petitioner's email address, possibly also phone number and address. They will ask you if the beneficiary would like an email address on file.

    e. Possibly the beneficiaries passport number - have it in case

    8. At this point they will tell you when they received your case and then you can ask if a case number was assigned.

    9. They may give you only the case number - if they do also ask if they can provide you with the invoice number. The invoice number can/will be used when your fiance must make their visa payment. It's a good number to have on file.

    10. Your case number will begin with three letters - this identifies the embassy it is going to. In our case it was LND = London. If you are unsure, ask the agent where it is going and ask them to explain the letter code.

    Notes:

Your mileage may vary by agent that you get. They were quite helpful. My first experience was so-so, the second agent who gave me my case number was very pleasant and it was a great experience. They actually seemed happy to help... nothing like the calls to USCIS!

Reports have been that the best time to call NVC is later at night - after 8:00pm EST. The worst time is lunchtime - 11:00am - 1:00pm EST and even early mornings seem bad for a lot of people. Don't be discouraged - I had to call 25 times before I got a message other than high call volume the first time I called. They are open from 7:00am - 12:00am EST. Please note if you are calling during these winter/bad storm hours they may close early or be closed due to weather. NVC is not always prompt in putting up a "closed due to weather" message.

So you got a case number - Great! Now...

This is where you want to start tracking - CEAC Status - https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx

(Make sure you choose Immigrant Visa) Our government sees the K-1 as a hybrid, but the embassies consider it Immigrant.

Until your case is completed on the embassy level and your fiance's visa has been approved, you will need to watch this space. Your USCIS tracking days are over for now until you begin the AOS process.

Some guides say you can call DOS (Department of State) to check for your case number, but as far as I know you cannot get information out of DOS until after your case has reached the embassy.

  8. Sooooo I literally just got a phone call from someone at the U.S. Consulate here in Bermuda. They just received our case!!!!

I WISH I had all of the paperwork together. I didn't think they would have it this soon! But in any case, I'm HAPPY! Now all we have left to do is the interview.

After all of the time this whole process took, I can hardly believe it.

omg so excited for you!!! i can't wait mine get here to Bogota... i wonder if i should call...

  9. Hii! Quick question.

Our case status on the NVC website says "In Transit". Underneath that it says, "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center."

But we haven't recieved any details from anyone about our interview date. Does anybody know where I can find it??

    Many thanks! :)

i think it is different for every consulate... for example, my case is "Ready" but i known from other cases that i'm not able to pay and apply to schedule an interview until the Embassy in Bogotá send me (the beneficiary) the instructions to follow... during the NVC Case Status changes it says things like that but i think are more general and it is better if you try to find the right information for your specific embassy in the "Portals" section at VisaJourney.

    Good Luck.

  10. Hi Everyone! ... This is so exciting!!! NOA2 received on the 17th Feb 2015. We're so close!!!!!

  11. My fiancée completed her DS-160, paid the visa fee, and now she's attempting to schedule her interview. Unfortunately she's just getting a message saying "There are currently no appointments available." There's no additional information.

Is there a chance she can call to the embassy to ask for more information? it is kinda frustrating... best luck now you are just one step away! :D

  12. My NOA2 was Feb 10 but NVC still don't have my case.

    Uscis still not updated online.

    What can I do?

Call the NVC. USCIS never updated my case, but I called the NVC and they gave me a case number.

It happened also to us, USCIS never updated my case saying it was going to NVC, but since @LoveInGanha got it (we are 3 Feb NOA2), we just called today to NVC directly and found out that we have a NVC case Number already and it is waiting to be shipped to Bogotá's Embassy soon.

    Go for it!

    Regards.
