I’ve just received a I-797 rejection letter from USCIS for the following reason(s):
The payment amount is incorrect, or has not been provided. Please review the form instructions for the fee information.
I’m not sure why it’s incorrect after I double checked the amount I should pay. I sent 5 money order checks totaling $1225 for I- 485. I don’t understand why that mount is incorrect. Also what does it mean when the notice states: based on the information you provided, your priority date could not be established. Please resubmit your application with proper documentation to address listed on the bottom of the notice.
Please could someone read my notice and tell me what did is the reason it got rejected or give me advice?
So sorry this happened - I had the exact same thing happen to me. How did you provide the check? When you send it back, make sure you clip the check to the front page of your application. Do NOT put it in an envelope. They won’t open it (stupid, I know).

Also, will any of you be applying for citizenship? When can we actually do that?

Hi everyone! I hope you've all been well. I'm planning on (finally) changing my last name to my husband's last name. I was planning on just doing that now since I am filing to get the conditions removed from my conditional green card. Do you guys have any tips on that? Like just mentioning my maiden name and noting the change in last name?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
-
Hi all, I am not sure if I should post this here, so please remove it if so. I'll be changing my last name soon to my husband's last name. My conditional green card anniversary is in 9-months. Do I have to change my current green card even though I will soon be filing to remove the conditions?
Any help is appreciated and thank you!

Hi everyone,
I got my green card yesterday, woohoo! It was about a 2 month wait - longer than I expected but still fine.
I wish you all luck to anyone waiting on their green cards. It will come!

Haha, oh my goodness, that is an embarrassing mistake! It is now updated. I blame that mistake on a lack of coffee :-P Thanks for the heads up, Leo.
1Brit, you are still wrong in your date.
You have a masters degree now . . . right ? :-) -
Hey Leo, I just put it as January 2014 because I spent the whole month working on my app So couldn't really put a specific date.
Thank you for your update of everyone on this forum!
1Brit, you have error in your date of 'Starts working on application.'

Big congrats, Chewy!
Just wanted to give an update
Had our interview on Wednesday and everything went well and was approved!Good luck, Joanna!
Just had our interview in the San Francisco office. It went pretty well, the officer was very professional and all business. It lasted about 20mins, she checked and updated our info on the application, went through the questions on the form, and then asked us if we had anything to add to the case ( I had a few more items like bank statements and joint health insurance). Had a few more questions regarding how we met, why did we decide to get married, if we knew each others family etc.. She didn't give any indications of whether she was satisfied with the answers we gave her but oh well.
Then she made copies of everything, said all that was left to do was a background check. She said she wouldn't have time to get back to our case today but to check again in the next few days. She gave us "your case is being held for review" form and said that when we get the green card it would be good for two years then we would need to remove conditions etc.
She never said whether we were approved or not but my husband and myself left her office with the impression that if the background check goes through, we're good. Now time to come down from that stressful experience!!
Hey everyone, just letting you know that amazingly enough, our interview in San Francisco was cancelled and rescheduled in Salt Lake City for July 7th. Really glad this happened actually as it would have been a pain to fly back to SF.

Congrats, Philly!! Doesn't matter what age you are - so great that you are getting the opportunity to pursue higher education.
I know this is completely out of topic but I'm so happy ...just did the enrollment application for college (I'm almost 27 but it's better now than never) and for financial aid ...it feels so good to be able to finally do things I couldn't before
Thanks, Danni! Oh, I am jealous!! My husband and I want to make a trip out to Moab at some point. So many incredible sights to see now that we are in Utah
Congratulations!
Salt Lake City is beautiful btw, we just returned from a vacation in Moab such an amazing part of the country!

Hey everyone, sorry for being MIA - had a busy weekend of getting my MA degree, celebrating my birthday and moving to Salt Lake City! I wanted to let you all know that I got my EAD last Thursday. Weirdly enough, I did not receive any emails with tracking information.

I got my interview notice in the mail yesterday!! My interview is scheduled for June 17. Will already have moved to SLC at that point but it is worth it to come back and do the interview, especially since most of you said you got approved right after the interview. I am so excited and pleased!
-
Congrats drjb, and thank you! Your progress gives me hope!!
Just got text/email notification that my EAD was approved!!!!
FYI, I did get a RFE for initial evidence and my EAD was approved on Day 71, within the processing timeline.
-
Big congrats to you both!!!
It took a while but EAD and AP is finally approved - very happy!!
Today, May 12, 2015, the 75th day when my Forms I-765 and I-131 was accepted by USCIS. This morning I was greeted that my case is updated to "EAD/AP has been approved and Card was ordered to be produced". Thank you Lord that I will no longer need to call them tomorrow and experience the elbow pain of dialing a 1-800 numbers.
-
Hey Lettyana,
I inquired about my EAD specifically (gave the receipt number). I am confused now as some are saying they still got their EAD even after receiving an RFE for initial evidence :/ Do not lose hope, we can just keep our fingers crossed and hope that it is not true!!
Hi 1brit,
did you call them to put the service inquire about your EAD or just to get some information? I've seen a lot of people on this forum who did get their EAD in time, even after they got RFE for initial evidence. I don't know, maybe I just don't wanna believe it and lose my hope
Yay, I am so pleased your interview was rescheduled for June and not months later!! And yeah, it sucks :/ If what the lady on the phone says is correct, my 75th day will not be until end of June :/
My interview was rescheduled today for June 15th! What a relief. Let's hope this one sticks.
Sorry to hear that 1brit. For what it's worth, you can give them a call to open an inquiry on day 75 after they receive your reply. Or that's what I understood.
Hi Leo,
I called the number on the I-797 form I received for my EAD. And the number I dialed directed me to a USCIS representative (it is a standard number, not city specific I do not think) but honestly, it sounded like she did not know what she was talking about and was just spewing official instructions. I don't know.
What phone number did you call regarding this?
Are there different phone numbers for different types of questions; and different phone numbers for different cities?Hey Meghan!
Oh gosh, I am really confused now!! When the lady on the phone told me the news, she just said 'that is what happens' so I do not know if she is misinformed or something. I did explain to her that I filed my EAD in conjunction with my I-485 and I-130. Meh, I just hope I get my EAD on time; your scenario gives me hope!!
Hi everyone .. sorry have been a little MIA just catching up .. Brit your EAD should not need to start over. We had an RFE for initial evidence as well and we received our EAD on time. It came in the mail May 7th.
-
Hey everyone,
Firstly, congrats to everyone who has their work authorization and had successful interviews! So happy for you all
Secondly, some bad news for those who had RFE's that say 'Request for INITIAL evidence' (i.e. me). I called USCIS and they said if you get a request for initial evidence, the whole process starts over for you. So you have to wait an additional 90 days after they received all of your evidence. But if it is a request for ADDITIONAL evidence, it just suspends the process. I am really annoyed right now, as I will have to wait ages for work authorization, and will be graduating soon and need to get a job :/
-
OMG Joanna, I am so sorry this happened to you. How ridiculous and especially because they didn't even offer a reason as to why! Utterly useless and I hope they can reschedule you asap.
Well, my interview was cancelled this morning! As you can imagine I am so thrilled. No explanation nothing, just your interview is cancelled we're sending a notice etc... awesome.
At least my EAD is supposed to get here today.
-
Congrats and such lovely news to hear! Fingers crossed all of our experiences are as smooth as yours was.
Hello there.
My husband and I were 30 minutes in the interview. We had such a great officer that she approved us on the spot. I received a notification that my card was already ordered to be produced.
We are so happy. I hope all of you people get their cases approved. -
Congrats Vink, great news about the EAD! And I guess the interview is really a waiting game lol.
I got my EAD/AP Combo 4/24. I-485 ready to scheduled for interview since March 10th 2015.
Hmm, that is strange, although they are different departments so I guess they all move at their own (somewhat random) pace? I wouldn't worry about it! As long as you submitted the correct evidence you will be fine. Fingers crossed they hurry up a bit Perhaps mine was just easier to process for whatever strange reason?
Hi 1brit, I submitted my evidence for RFE before you did but my status hasn't updated to "Ready to ..." yet. Kinda worried although I already received the EAD/AP card.
-
Wow Meghan, that is such great news!! Hope your job interview goes well and so happy to hear your EAD card was approved and in production
Last week I saw a really great job opportunity and knowing, well hoping, that my EAD was only a few days away from production I decided to apply. Today I heard from the employer and set up an interview for tomorrow afternoon and was hoping and praying for an EAD approval today.
WE JUST GOT THE EMAIL IT WAS APPROVED AND IN PRODUCTION!! Woohoooo! Happy to be joining you fellow EAD's and to those still waiting hang in there! They seem to be moving down the list quite smoothly so that is a good sign.
I called yesterday to USCIS to see if I could speed up the process but of course it had only been 69 days and the lady told me I had to wait until day 75. Good things come to those who wait, or is it the wheel that squeaks gets the grease? Anyways .. happy to be approved, and happy to have an interview tomorrow that I can go into saying I am approved. I am going to go down to the SSN office tomorrow morning with the email and hope they are having a good day and the email is enough to start the process.
Good luck everyone!
And thanks Leo for the list and where everyone is at .. it really kept me positive to see we were only a few people down the list.

Just checked my I-485 status online and it says: As of April 20, 2015, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC1590733599, for an interview.
Woohoo!
Very happy because it means they accepted my husband's grandparents as our joint sponsors, thank goodness. Will keep you all posted on when we receive an interview date. Hoping my EAD will get done soon since I will be graduating soon, fingers crossed. Our February group has been getting processed so quickly!
-
Yay, congrats!!! That is so quick especially since you called them about it recently. Maybe I should give them a call soon too haha.
EAD card ordered today!! Yay
-
Sorry for being inactive everyone; not much to report from my end!
Congrats to everyone who has had their EAD processed/completed and best of luck to those with interviews soon. I am sure you will be fine

Wanted to update you all! After 3 long years, my application to remove the conditions on my green card was approved on May 24, 2019. Received my green card a day later. I also applied for naturalization in April 2017, and my oat ceremony has been scheduled for June 10, woohoo! What helped with both applications was to reach out to my state senator, and ask them to submit an inquiry on my behalf (because everything was moving way too slowly).
Good luck to those still on their journey!
