Nice for you, PVA. Don't see many Costa Rica petitions. Having been to that amazing, beautiful, welcoming nation, I'm surprised your petition isn't reversed! I'd move to Costa Rica in a heartbeat.
well, like many stories here, not everything can be taken at face value Yes, a lovely country with lovely people, but the circumstances for our families make us need to be here. I'm sure you understand.
Good luck to you.

This thread is about K1 visas not IR1. There are plenty of IR1/CR1 NVC threads to join. Try this one: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/529507-nvc-filers-january-2015/
sorry, did not see that in forum or title. Still learning how to navigate this website as much as the laws.
good luck regardless

I130 approval was a record 4 weeks for me
I130 to receipt at NVC was 1.5 weeks
NVC receipt to case number assignment was then 5 weeks (not quite the 6 weeks they announced)
Just got my letter about payments, will you keep you posted on application!

Well I can tell you Thursday I tried, I got through on 5th try and the wait was only 20 mins as opposed to >30 tries and >30 mins every other time.
And good news was, I finally got a case number and now I have the invoices. THINGS ARE HAPPENING.

Hello all,
Just wanted to let you know that the NVC Contact info page at http://travel.state.gov/content/visa...formation.html last week said things were changing January 12, 2015.
I went on today to make sure I was calling the right place, and it says they are now processing immigrant and nonimmigrant visas. They also said they are improving their phone systems. So, the phone number and hours appear the same, but .... We'll see if it gets any better!
Not sure anything here really changes for anyone, but just FYI. I would recommend checking every once in a while in case of changes due to the phone upgrades.

Hi,
You seem to understand vaccines and titers, so let me ask you your opinion if you don't mind
Husband still has to go through waiver process so (hopefully approved!) medical is a way out. Thoughts on having his physician here run titers and get vaccinations? Bottom line is, he needs them here if he doesn't have them, so I'm all about getting the prep work done as much as possible.... We can bring the paperwork on the vaccines he gets (and lab results for titers) with us to the medical exam? I should say, he's >30, does not think he ever had chicken pox and absolutely no record of any vaccines (he got a tetanus here about 12 years ago, but that's all we have)
I'm just anxious to get anything and everything done in advance that we can... while we wait for case numbers and instructions and reviews, why push out timelines further?
Appreciate your (and anyone's) thoughts.
Thanks
I am going to presume you are a 30 year old who has already had the chicken pox:
1. Flu Shot in Season only.... required either way. You can get it done elsewhere if you bring reference to batch etc. to civil surgeon.
Unless your pregnant--- Flu shot contraindicated if pregnant.
2. Verifying Tetanus and Diptheria titers in serum is more expensive that getting the TD again (and you should have Tetaneus every 10 years anyway).
I suggest you request a TDAP instead of TD to get the Pertussis coverage if you have infants around. Not much more money (although Ptus not actually required for the 30yr old). OK during Pregnancy (even recommended later on)
3. MMR - Let them run titers - Rubella titers. For 30 yr old, they'll be looking at the Rubella titer as the other 2 aren't age indicated for a 30 year old. Contraindicated during pregnancy. If titers on Rubella insufficient, they'll have to repeat the MMR.
As for HepA/HepB - not required for a 30 year old for USCIS but if you work around kids, school, healthcare, you'll wind up doing these for other reasons and might want to just pay for them..
You'll get the Tuberculin scratch test with follow up read 2-3 days later ---- or IGRA from serum if you want to pay for it.
If you have a sufficient response, you might get referred for chest x-ray to rule out TB.
You will get a VDRL / RPR for Syphylis.
And a basic physical with questions on STDs as part of the physical.
Maybe be more specification requirements for USCIS civil surgeons recognized by each respective embassy above and beyond what is above.
You can google for USCIS Powerpoint Presentation on training the USCIS Civil Surgeons if you want more details.

Obtaining Passport for a US Citizen Child - Birth Certificate
in Passports, etc. - What to do now that you are a US citizen
Posted
Hello, we just applied for a child's passport here. yes, they need the original and only use it until the passport is issued. They will return it. In fact, it is practice to return the passport and birth certificate back in separate envelopes. I always assumed, maybe read it somewhere, that this process was to ensure that if 1 envelope was lost, the other document was still available to have for citizen documentation.
Good luck!
