Hi to all my Visa Journey friends,
Im going to the Philippines in August to marry. Im looking for any info I can get about Spousal Visa. Im sure that there is some things I will need to do while Im there. Im going to be there for 2 months so I got time to do what ever I need to. I know I had a check list of things I needed for fiancé visa, Im looking for something like that, or a link, any helpful info will be much appreciated.
Thank you,
-
We have only stayed in one hotel in Manila, that's the Kabayan. I have stayed there twice with my Fiancé, Im going back this August and have rented the Kabayan for two more stays. We meet in Manila and go from there to her home on Leyte, then on the way back home for me in the USA we go back through Manila and stay for a few more nights. I think it is very good money wise. Its about $50 a night, and we are treated very well. It comes with free breakfast for every morning you stay. I think its a 3 star, its not the Hyatt but its nice for the price.

My fiancé and I are working on a K1 visa when we ran in to a problem with her birth certificate. She has two of them, one a live birth and the other one is a late entry. And they are not the same, different birth dates and her name is spelled wrong on one. One of them needs to be discarded and the right one needs the spelling of her name corrected. Not an easy task so I have learned. Any way we have consulted a lawyer, a friend of hers witch means nothing to me when it comes to dealing with a lawyer. I have some question about the money that she wants to charge us for her services. At first it was P20,000, that sounded ok to me but we received the contract to day and its going to be more like 50,000. So I am posting it here on VJ with out the names to protect the innocent. I will thank any one who has any feed back for us in advance, VJ and its members have been a great help.

Hi Dennis8
I was thinking of Manila or Ormoc City, but we have friend's in Cebu City. So let me make sure that I understand this. I can take the fast boat from Ormoc City to Cebu City with no prier arrangement's walk in and be married in just a few hours? I don't have to wait a few days like in the USA.

Im hopping to glean as much info about getting married in the Philippines as I can. I am an American and have been seeing a Filipino woman for the last few years. Do to circumstances beyond my control a K-1 visa is not the best option for us. So what I need to know is, if I go to the Philippines how long will it take me to get married? Can it be done in a 10 day trip, that kind of thing. And what is the proses, home much will it cost me? Is it better to do it in Manila or her province? Or any thing else I have not covered, or just don't know about?
Thanks'

My most resent tax return if for 2014 and I did not work the whole year. I think I worked around 7 months, but if you get the monthly earnings and x 12 for the year, I would have made about 30,000. Do you know if that will be sufficient to please the embassy?

To reply to luckytwo15's statement: "I'd tell your friend to not petition a foreign partner if he can't afford it."
I am the "friend" and Its a shame that you take that attitude towards some one asking for help. Thus far I have gotten nothing but helpful info or at least a sincere attempt to help me from this sight. I guess maybe it fills good to you to take a "better then" attitude with some one you don't even know, and do not know the situation that put me in this state of not having the tax proof I need. Your statement just falls short of anonymous bullying. I assume that you did marry a woman from another country, I sincerely hope you treat her better then that. Because I know when my fiancé see's your remark, it will surly hurt her fillings.

I am starting the K-1 Visa proses, I was planning on using a cosponsor. I hurt my back in 2012 and was not able to work the last part of that year. Non of 2013, had operation and when back to work in 2014. But I only worked 7 months. So the cosponsor is, I think the only way for me to go because I cant show the tax records for those years. Last night I was reading up on it and ran crossed this:
Financial CosponsorshipNearly all consulates will allow a financial cosponsor for fiance visa processing.
The U.S. consulate in Manila will not currently allow a financial cosponsor for fiance visa processing.
In Manila, you must qualify on your own or your fiance will be denied the fiance visa.

I was put off to say the least, so does any one have any info about the proses in Manila. Do they not except cosponsors? I hope to have some answers to day before my fiancé, "Gemma" wakes up and I have to tell her. I hope to have some positive news about this to tell her as well. Please help if you can.
Thank
David & Gemma
