NewKid, I don't think it takes very long to get a Marriage Licence, I beleive you can get that the same day you apply, it has been a long time since I had to apply for a Marriage licence, but I will have to do the same thing once my K1 visa gets approved, as for the civil ceremony that I don't know, Good Luck.

So if my fiancée is would her poverty line be that for 2 or would it be less since they don't show anything less then 2 people in a house hold, just trying to find out how much she needs to make so that we can apply for a K1 visa.

I need to know what the Poverty line is in the USA and is it a National Poverty Line or does it go from State to State since my Fiancée will have to get a job I need to let her know how much she will need to make since she will have to make 125% over that Poverty Line

Thank You Canadian_wife I appreciate that we do have some time as I said I still have a couple of years before I can retire and Jackie needs to get a job so that she can prove she can support me, so would we be able to get married first then apply for the visa or do we need the visa first the K1 is a Fiance visa and the Cr1 seems to be for a married couple am I correct in that

Thanks Flames9_RN well I know we can't do anything right now I still need to get my divorce as well and as I said I still have 2 more years before I can retire without penalty I haven't been able to talk to girlfriend since October on advise from her Lawyer and her court date is now set for Feb 26th once that is finalized I will be able to get her to check out this site to see the things that she will nee to do for us to be together.

Thanks for your help, the poverty thing has me worried as she is going through a divorce right now and has not worked in almost 20 years, but we still have sometime as I still have about 2 years left before I can retire penalty free, right now it just seems so over whelming right now, but I know that I have only started this process.
