  1. Hi!

I'm currently on Directly Observed Therapy or DOT at Saint Luke's . As what I've known, if one is scheduled for sputum collection and isn't able to cough out phlegm at any of the scheduled days, they may have to be rescheduled for another day. But since your fiance wasn't advised to do so, the sputum collected from her during the 2 days that she was able to cough out phlegm would have sufficed coz if it didn't SLEC for would really set the right expectation that she needs to do extend for another day. I hope everything turns out well for you both.

  2. Hi!

You would have to be very early during your first day for the medical exam. If you line up after lunch, there's a great chance that your medical exam may take 4 days than the usual 3 days. There will be a TB skin test done maybe on your first day of medical exam so you would have to go back to SLEC 24-48 hours after that. By then, they'll continue to conduct the other exams and they'll be the one to schedule you when to come back for your vaccine shots which is usually on the 3rd day.

  3. Hello Everyone!

Has anyone here already gone thru the interview with a delayed birth registration? I was wondering what additional documents were asked from you and whether you were asked why the birth registration was delayed and what answer did you give the consul?

Hope to get some advise on this. Thanks!

  4. Hi! I don't want to discourage you but hopefully that may not a problem considering it's a legal document that's involved here. I have a friend who's on a K1 visa. Her mother's maiden name (MMN) had been misspelled on her birth certificate. Before even applying for the k1 visa, she had her MMN corrected with NSO which took about a year for the entire process. The worst that could happen is that the embassy may give you both a 221g. I hope you and your lola won't have to go thru the same thing. God speed!

  5. Hi everyone!

I'm here again to ask for your help.

I just received yesterday a letter from NVC. The letter states in there that NVC had received our approved petition and are now forwarding our case to the US Embassy in Manila. It also shows our MNL case #, USCIS receipt #, principal applicant, petitioner, and location of interview. No beneficiary and invoice number is indicated though.

Was that letter I've received the NVC appointment letter already or that was a different one? If it is the NVC appointment letter, my fiance in the Philippines should bring it along with her right during the medical exam at St. Luke's?

    Please help. Thanks!

  6. Not yet. We don't have the MNL case # yet. We thought that's inside the NVC packet. Is it the US Embassy Manila who'll be sending me the MNL # or they'll be sending it to my fiance in the Philippines?

  7. Hi everyone!

Our petition had been approved on March 11, 2015 and we are now waiting for the NVC packet to arrive.

As of March 23, USCIS website shows that our case had been forwarded to the Department of State. Does that mean that our documents are now forwarded to the US Embassy in Manila? Is it the US Embassy in Manila who'll be sending me the NVC packet? Can the NVC case number be found somewhere online?

Please shed some light on these. Thanks to all!

IVManila replies is no longer available.

I think this will be the last info I am going to share. Sorry for those who are already in US who find my sharing annoying. I understand that thousands Filipinos behave that way.

It's very much helpful and I would understand if this is all that you can share. Lastly, it's fine right that we won't schedule yet the US Embassy interview since obviously my fiance can't proceed with the interview due to her medical condition?

This is certainly helpful! Do we send it to the same addressee: To: Manila IV Correspondence Unit?

You do not need to contact the embassy in regards to getting the petition validity extended, USEM will do this automatically, up to a year.

Ok Hank but what was that email for? This email:

    To: Manila IV Correspondence Unit

    Subject: request for I-129F extention

    Good morning,

I would like to request an extention on our current I-129F form, my soon to be wife is currently undergoing treatment for tuberculosis and cannot go to the interview until the treatment is finished in early October. We just recently transferred the case from Jakarta Indonesia where she is working. She will move back to the Philippines June 15 and finish her treatment at St. Lukes. We are still very much planning on getting married late October if all goes well. Please notify me if there is any thing else that I need to do at this time.

Thanks for this info Tiny Jo! This indeed helpful. So, does my fiance have to go to the US Embassy in Manila to notify the embassy or it can be done thru writing? And as for me, how do I re-validate the approved K1 petition?

__ email is fine. This is an example of my fiance letter to embassy to revalidate the petition as well the mail from the embassy.

We understand that the applicant is undergoing the Directly Observed Therapy (DOT).

We noted your concerns regarding the validity of Ms.________ K1 visa petition. We wish to assure you and the applicant that while an approved K1 nonimmigrant visa petition is originally valid for four (4) months from the date of its approval, it may be revalidated
by a consular officer for an additional four (4) months during the applicant’s visa interview. Thisrevalidation
is routine as long as the petitioner and beneficiary remain legally free to marry and plan to do so within 90 days after the beneficiary enters the United States in K1 status.

I hope this will help you. I need your prayer..waiting for my visa .

  11. Call the contact info at this link and ask for Pulmonary. The doctors there don't give out their names.

    http://www.slec.ph/contact-us.php

If it was me I would get her transferred from Cebu to slec pronto.

Ok, I'm checking on the link. Would you know if they're able to make a monthly check up on her instead so that my fiance won't have to relocate in Manila where SLEC is? I've read in one of the posts who had the same concern that she needs to take her medicine everyday directly from SLEC.

  12. That's good info. My fiancée completed dot at slec. There are no shortcuts or work arounds to do treatment anywhere other than at slec.

I sat down with a slec pulmonary doctor one time and he explained to me that these "in province" treatments don't always provide the compete dosing and monthly testing standard that slec is required to do. In short, slec can choose to disregard outside completed treatment and bring the person right into their 8-9 month tb testing and treatment program at slec.

Better to follow slec's treatment and get'r done.

It says on the link you've shared that:wait an additional 1 year after the end of acceptable TB treatment

which means that the panel physician is still going to assess whether the TB Treatment that my fiance is undergoing is the one acceptable to SLEC's standards and let's say that she goes to SLEC once her entire treatment from local doctor is done which is on September 2015 and got SLEC approves such treatment, we would have to wait until September 2016 before she can have the whole medical exam done by SLEC for the VISA?

  13. That's terribly a long time to wait. Should we decide to transfer to SLEC asap, do we start her treatment again or we just have to continue her treatment? Do you mind giving me contact number to best reach the department in St. Luke's who caters to such concerns?

  15. Hi to all!

My fiance and I have received both good and bad news yesterday. Good that our petition had already been approved and bad that she had just been diagnosed with mild Pulmonary Tuberculosis. She had just started her TB treatment on March 16, 2015 and would end in September 2015 which makes our approved petition expired by then. Her attending pulmonoligist is from her local area and is not from the accredited clinic/hospital of the US Embassy but according to her pulmologist, she can just be issued a medical certificate stating that she's clear to travel and isn't contagious anymore though under treatment should the accredited clinic/hospital need it and there's no need for her to wait until her entire treatment is done to proceed with the VISA medical exam.

Now, we're torn between having her proceed with the VISA medical exam while she's on treatment or if we have to wait for her entire treatment to be done.

Whoever has similar case/s, please drop your comments.

  16. Hi to all!

Just last weekend, we have received good and bad news. Good, that our K1 petition application had been approved in less than 2 months :dancing: . Bad, that my fiance had just been diagnosed of mild Pulmonary Tuberculosis :crying: .

According to her local pulmonologist (not from the accredited hospital of the US Embassy), she can proceed with the K1 Visa application and take the medical exam after the first 2 weeks of her intensive medication provided that she just take along with her a medical certificate from the attending pulmonologist that she's not contagious anymore and is clear to travel under treatment.

Now, we're not sure if it's safe for her to go ahead and take the medical exam for the K1 Visa or if we have to wait until her treatment is done which is gonna take 6 months and which is right about the same time for the approved petition to expire since she got diagnosed with TB on March 2015 and our petition application had been approved on March 2015 too. If she fails the medical exam, the application would be re-evaluated. If she waits until her treatment is done, the application would be re-evaluated. Either way, it's still gonna be re-evaluated and the approval will be delayed. Should we take the chance in having her go thru the medical exam? Is it fine to call the US Embassy about it and ask them what needs to be done first before we proceed?

Whoever has similar case/s, please feel free to drop your comments. Thank you!
