  1. Had our interview today and were approved! In Sydney we had to send in all our docs ahead of time and everything looked ok so we were scheduled an interview. The documents were all in order and checked off at one window. We had to pay the $480 AUD at another window and then wait to be called to a third window for the interview. We were both asked questions about how we met and the specific dates. They asked what happened after we met, how we stayed in contact. They asked when and where we got married, if our parents had met each other. I was asked what my husbands job was like. He was asked if I had gone to university and where. I was asked when I arrived in Australia and how long I had been living here. My husband has also lived in the UK and the Netherlands and they asked about the dates he was there.

We were surprised to be asked so many questions as we have been married now for almost 4 years and have been living together in Australia for over 3 years. I am the USC and have permanent residency in Australia. The three other couples that were ahead of us all seemed to be getting lots of questions as well.

Good luck everyone! I hope sharing our experience helps.

  2. Hi All-

I haven't posted here before but have been reading for several months as my husband and I have been going through the "process". Thanks for all the tips and advice that I have been gleaning off of you all! :) We received our interview date via e-mail yesterday so it's not long now! Whew. I just thought I'd post our timeline for others who are filing in Australia.

    Cheers!

  3. Hey, just wondering if anyone can help. My fiance and I applied for a fiancee VISA after calling USCIS and being told we had to have one to get married. We are not planning to have him move to the US for another year and a half. He and I have to move to Australia for a year so we are planning to get married this July. Our I-129F was just approved yesterday. We are getting married without the VISA (since he will not be staying in the country), and were wondering how this might affect our application for a K-3 in a years time. Everytime I call USCIS, the lovely customer service agents know less than I do and can't ever answer my questions. Before calling to talk with yet another Immigration Officer I was wondering if someone else out there might have a suggestion or answer.

    Thanks!

    Gwen
