  1. All I have to say is that if you have a problem with USCIS or SS office please do write to your Senator. That's why they are in the office to look after your state problems and the problem of the people in your state. Here is the copy of the letter I wrote to my Senator and got my SS card shortly after.

    To: Your state Senator's Office

    Fax: (000) 000-0000

    From: Your name

    Your name

    Your address

    April 14, 2009

    Senator Mitch McConnell

    Fax: (502) 582-5326

    To Whom It May Concern:

    I have filed for a name change and status change on my Social Security card at Frankfort office on March 13th, 2009. I did provide all the necessary documents with my request. It has been over 4 weeks since the filing of this application with the Frankfort Social Security office.

    I request that you and your office check on the status of my application as the case processing time of 2 weeks has long come and gone. Calling Social Security office has proven to be futile in getting any sort of rational update as to what the delay might be.

    My reference number with the Social Security office is 2222222 for this application. If there is any other information you need to help with my case please contact me at 555-555-5555.

    Sincerely,

    Your name

  2. I had a name change and in order to get my name change on my driver license I need a SS card with my new name and I also getting a certificate from my state board and I need to show them SS card & driver license with my new name in order to get the certificate with my correct name on it.

    Visit SSA office and ask for superviser...

    For DMV, I was o.k. by showing original certificate of naturalization.

    But usually USCIS district office will mail you official "petition for name change" document signed by Court Judge in 2 ~ 3 months.

    Some may ask for that documentation.

    I got the Senator involved and I got my SS card about 10 days ago.

  3. On March 13th after my oath ceremony I went to my local SS office to do a name change and status change, I had all the proof and documents they needed it. I was told its not showing in the system that I am a US citizen soooooooo they copied my citizenship certificate and told me I should get my card in mail in 2 weeks and if there is a problem they'll send me a letter in 2 weeks. After 2 weeks of not hearing anything I called the SS office I they told me my case still pending I should get something in 2 weeks. It's been more than 1 months and nothing. So I had enough, today i fax my sate senator a letter asking him for help in getting my SS card. Anybody else had problem with SS office.

    you already have your number... what is the rush?

There was 49 of us from 30 different countries. But am sooooooooooo happy it's all done. Thanks to everyone on visa journey for all the help.

    Congratulations! Now you're all done!

    I remembered that you posted before about your nephew shredded you LRP GC, did they give you any trouble?

    Please share detail experience later when you have time. Thanks! :thumbs:

    About my GC, they took the shredded pieces and told me to make sure my nephew doesn't get his hands on my citizenship certificate.

  7. Hi,

    My N400 is coming up next 20 of April;

    My wife filed for divorce on Jan 2009 but we still live together; my wife is now thinking of filing a dismissal of the divorce.

    Is this dismissal legally possible within 4 weeks?

    Will a record remain in Court even in case of dismissal?

    My trouble is this: even if she files for a dismissal, will the immigration see the divorce record and de-naturalize me later on after oath?

    The problem is that I don't know what is the current stage of our divorce:

    on a brief conversation with the

    Plaintiff attorney(my wife's attorney) last week we have been told thet the Court is 4 months behind and we will be divorced no sooner than the summer;

    The attorney added that "if she tells me to stop it I will stop it";

    Now I really would like to show up at the interview and have my mind clear that when they ask me: is your marriage still valid? I can say yes! It is;

    I need advice on what to do;

    I would not go to the interview and say "she filed for divorce and dismissed and have the IO keeping me there for 2 hours or try to call my wife"

    Pls advice on this complicated situation

    Thank you a lot

    As long as your wife tells her lawyer to stop the divorce and both of you are in a same house you should be fine.

  8. They will send you a letter with interview date and everything you need to take in with you. Everything that I sent with my N-400 application I took the original copies in with me.

    I mailed in my application earlier this month and I have a few questions:

    - when you go for your interview, I'm assuming you need to bring the originals, just in case they ask? What do you bring? Marriage license, tax returns, what else? House deed? Joint bank account?

    - my field office is in Oklahoma City. Does anyone know if the oath will be in Tulsa or will I have to drive back up there? I read that some people had ceremonies in Tulsa but that was a few years ago. I don't think OKC does same day oath ceremonies.

    Thanks :)

  9. Hi my interview is on february 9 2009 and I have been learning the 100 question the ask me to learn but I am still lost. Someone told me there is not going to be a test with (a,b,c,d) multiple choice but when I call the USCIS office they told me I will have a test of about 10 questions out of the 100 i learn and will also be asked a few. Did u take the NEW test and what was it like can any one who read this email let me know PLZ.

    Hi everyone,

    I went for my interview today and the officer, he was very nice. I was asked 6 Que. & I wrote "We all pay taxes" and he didn't look at any of my paper that I had to take in with me, all he looked at was my green card & my Canadian passport and he gave them back to me. It only took 10-15 mins. I didn't take my husband with me because he had to work. I felt bad for a girl before me she failed her history & gov. test and they told her she has to wait 1 to 3 months.

    They will ask you 10 Que. and you have to answer 6 correctly. The Que. will not be multiple choice.
