  1. Hello everyone!!! I hope everyone is doing well and all your paperwork is being processed. In regards to the Removal of Conditions my husband and I submitted ours on July 20, 2017. We have received his one year extension letter and we have completed his biometrics. What should we do when the one year extension letter is expired? It is good until August 2018, and then what happens? What should we do if we do not receive his 10 year GC by then? Please respond with some advise. I really appreciate it.

Your husband only need the extension letter, expired green card and the fulfilled biometrics appointment to proved that he did not abandoned the appointmen.

If in case you encounter morons specially on the airline employee. please showed them this. Proceed to page 38 for more detailed information.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I will print this document and have him bring it with him.. Should I make him bring the entire document or just the 38th page?

    THANK YOU

  3. Hey everyone!
So my husband is planning to travel to South Africa for his sisters wedding next month. He has received his one year extension letter for his removal of conditions so that will end up expiring in August 2018. Is he allowed to travel with just that letter and his expired green card? Do we need to do anything else? Can anyone send me a link to any government article that states that is all he needs to travel?

If anyone is currently or have just received their 10 year/removal of conditions. Can you please tell me how long it took you to get it?

I am getting so nervous for him to travel and I need to make sure he will be allowed back in the US with that letter..

    Please help me.

  4. Hello to everyone on V.J. I want to say thank you to the people who have helped my husband and I get this far with this process. I do have some more questions though..

On Tuesday my husband had his visa interview at the joburg embassy. It lasted about 20 minutes ( not including waiting time ). The woman who interviewed him was very nice and actually from the same part of America I am from which was very awesome!. She told us at the end of the interview that everything looks good. So we asked it we were approved and she said that she doesnt see a reason why not but to just give them 3-5 business days to finish with the paperwork unless there are technical difficulties it will take longer but they will email us within 5 business days with next steps??

It has been 3 days now... Should we email them?? Should we be worried?? Is my husbands visa approved??

Wouldnt they let you know there if it was denied? They still have my husbands passport and everything so i take it that it is approved?

Please help people <3 Im stressing out.

    Regards,

    Shelby & Steven.

  5. Thank you so much for the comment ! The interview is at 1 so thank you for letting us know we will be waiting outside... As for the pictures... I have put everything (documents they need, extra papers, and wedding/relationship photos) all into one binder with a table of contents and lables to find where everything is. Is this a bad idea??? How should I put the paperwork together??? If the binder wont fit through the window? I am so nervous and reallly just hoping and praying everything goes good... How long does it take to get the visa issued after approval???

    Hi!

I assume his interview is at 1? I would start to line up for the interview between 12:15 and 12:30. The location is not really in the best spot you will have your back to all way and will be outside the entire time while you wait to go in.

The Consulate is right across from the Sandton Mall. So if you have time to kill before or after your interview go pop into Sandton Mall for a little while.

They let me come in for the interview. I was living in South Africa at the time so I came to the interview. I brought my Passport with me.

Make sure you have pictures, but don't put them in a binder as they wont fit through the window. You can label pictures with the date and location on the back.

And then of course make sure all your documents are unabridged.

If you have any more questions just ask! But they are pretty friendly at that Consulate.

  6. Dear everyone,

My husband has his interview at the Johannesburg American Consulate in four days!!

We are making sure we have all of the documents in order that they asked for. Should we bring anything else? If you have any advice for us on what we should bring extra please post it on this forum. How early should we get to the consulate before his interview? Am I allowed to come in with him? What extras should we bring? What is the chances of approval and denial?

We are very nervous and stressed out,

    PLEASE HELP

    Regards,

    Shelby & Steven

  7. Hello to all my fellow visa journey'ers.

My husband and I just recieved our interview date ! YIPPY!

But I still have a few questions.

1.) Should he apply for another police clearance before the interview because his is about 7 months old now?

2.) How long does it take to actually recieve your visa after the interview? (When can you leave the country)

3.) How should we bring the documents they ask us to bring? (one folder for originals and then one folder for copies?) Or just all together?

4.) What extra paperwork should we bring? Because I always see on here that everyone brings extras just incase.. BUT WHAT!?

Thank you so so so much in advance <3

  8. Go to the interview and take the financial information (i.e. tax returns -2014) and other information for evidence of support. Sometimes the operators at NVC give wrong information. Don't worry about it.

Once your paperwork is sent to the consulate, they will schedule your interview (if it is IR1/CR1) otherwise you will have to work with the consulate to schedule your interview (not sure what visa type you have - it would depend on that).

HEY! Thank you so much for your reply! we have a CR1 visa. And i think it is the tax returns for 2014 because i didnt send those in because I have not finished with them yet.. Should I finish them and send them in?? And then if I do that, do I need to change my i-864 for the 2014 taxes?

  9. Dear all!

My husband and I finally recieved wonderful news that our case is completed with the NVC and is being sent to Johannesburg for an interview.

They stated that there was still stuff wrong with our affidavit of support/financial evidence. But we have seriously NO CLUE what is wrong. They also said they will send us a checklist of what is wrong and we still have nothing in our email?

Anyways, now that our paperwork is being sent to the consulate, how long until we know when our interview date is?

    PLEASE HELP!

  10. Dear everyone,

I am in the process of my husband immigrating to US from South Africa. We have just sent our final package to the NVC before receieving the interview date and they sent us back a notice that they need court records from his arrest from drinking and driving. He was arrested in June 2014 his first court date was Jan 22nd 2015 and now his trial is on May 5th 2015. We are wondering if he should just pleed guilty and have this put on his record so we can get this process done faster or if we should go to trail for him to be not guilty (this process may take another year). Would having a first offence drinking and driving on his record affect him immigrating to the US at all?

    PLEASE HELP ME !!

  11. Hello to everyone :) My husband and I just sent our final packet to the NVC for processing.

We recieved the email that they are processing the case but it will take 60 days + for the case to be completed

Is there ANY way we can make this time go faster? How do we find out how the processing is going?

my husband is immigrating to the US from South Africa.

    Please please please help!

  12. Hey guys and gals!My husband and I just sent our final package to the NVC for processing before my husband gets his interview date. They emailed us saying to allow the 60+ days to review our paperwork and then they will call with the final answer and interview date.

IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY WE CAN HAVE THIS PROCESS GO FASTER!?!?

We have called the consulate and got ahold of an employee there a few weeks back and he said there was a way to make it go faster but we really do not remember anything that he said because it did not feel necessary to know at the time. But now that our paperwork is in WE NEED TO GET BACK TO THE STATES ASAP. So we really need help to get this paperwork on a roll.

Please, if anyone knows of any way that we can make this process go faster, LET ME AND MY HUSBAND KNOW ASAP <3

    Thank you so much.

  13. Hey guys! I am asking a few questions because the number the NVC gave me takes too long to get through,

1.) My father is mine and my husbands joint sponsor, since I do not make over poverty level in America. Does he have to file a AOS form as well as me? Or only me? Or only him?

2.) When I submit my i-864 should I submit my fathers (joint sponsor) AOS at the same time? Or does my husband bring that to the interview?

3.) Does our unabridged marriage certificate need to be apostled when we send copies to the NVC or does it only need to be apostled for the interview?

4.) On my i-864 form is asks for my address, I am currently in South Africa with my husband? but then it asks country of Domicile? and it states I have to be living in America for this all... But then again it says I just have to be in America before my husband enters the country, or at the same time.

5.) It says it can take 60 days for the NVC to contact us for a interview date? Is this really the time frame we have to look at ? Or does it usaully go faster?

Thank you all SOO MUCH !

  14. Hi if you are waiting for it to come to you in South Africa there is a VERY good chance it might not come. I would get on the phone and find out the status of your application. There has been a post office strike since August and mail is pretty much at a stand still in South Africa.

YES you need your unabridged marriage certificate. Get on that ASAP. If you are going through Home Affairs that could take 6-9 months. I have the names of some companies you can pay that can get the marriage certificate quicker if you want the name of the companies.

Please message me the names of the companies, my husband and I applied for ours about 4 months ago and it was never uploaded on the system so we went back to home affairs and re-applied for one. It is seriously taking forever and the lady there said she is trying to do the best she can but we all know that she is just being lazy and not doing anything. Also I head about the stike in JoBurg it took my mothers package 3 months to get to us because of it. We finally recieved a email from the NVC with the next steps and I am so grateful for that.

Hello and thank you to everyone that helped us so far ! We were just emailed from the NVC with the next steps for my husbands visa! Thank you SOOO MUCHH!!! :dancing:

  15. Dear all! Hi I am new to this website! I am American and my husband is South African ( I am living in South Africa with him until he is able to come back to American with me) We applied for our Spousal visa a few months back and our petition was approved on October 20th we are waiting for our approval notice in the mail with further instructions but it has not came yet. How long do you think it would take for this notice to arrive in the mail? it has been 6+ weeks and we are living in South African and it sent from the NVC in America ( I think ). Another question, how long is the rest of the process after our petition has been approved? What are the next steps? Do we need our unabridged marriage certificate?

PLEASE help me guys and gals !

    Thank you so much!
