  1. Great News Congratulations!

Whoo Hoo! We are through too! Alan arrived at the Embassy at 9:30 for a 10:30 appointment and was finished and out the door at 11:05! 3-5 days for Passport courier delivery. Then home home home.

Thank you Thank you everyone who participates on these boards. We couldn't have done it with out you all.

    :luv:

  2. Munchkins, so good to see you get approved. The waiver won't take too long.

It's been so long since I've been over here. Spouse has been over and we just spent the last several weeks moving from one house to a new one and having lots of fun putting it all together.

 I must have entered the date wrong so many weeks ago. His interview is on 10/31, his medical, which he passed, was on the 24th.

Its nice to see most every body moved along the process. I'm starting to forget the horrible wait times....just like child birth. The end is so wonderful you forget the horrible bits! :D

    Cheers

  3. Wow! :) I've been off flitting hoose and so many have moved forward. Congratulations everyone.

My husband has his interview scheduled for Oct. 10th. The Embassy finally answered his e-mail and let him know the date. No package in the mail yet.

Can't wait for November when he can finally come home.

    Cheers :star:

  4. Many people do. What you are looking at in timelines is averages but there are many cases where I-130's are approved very quickly at the service center and then in conjunction with James Shortcuts, makes doing the the K-3 a waste of effort. My I-130 eg was approved in 45 days, some have been a lot quicker then that. It will always vary between cases, service centers and consulate. My CR-1 visa was granted 8 months after the I-130 was filed and we procrastinated somewhat. Over the past months in particular IMBRA has affected the I-129F processing for spouses at the NBC and approvals have been in general very slow going. CR-1's have been a more viable option for many over the past year.

Also, you have to factor in the days that you had to wait on the NOA1 receipt of the I-130 before you could submit the K3. I'm not sure if that is factored in on the K3 visa stats or not?

  5. When you get your AOS fee bill you will get your another copy of the bar code. With the help of a handy little copy-scan-print 3N1 printer you can do all sorts of wonderful things with that fee bill barcode to prepare the forms follwing James short cuts. If I remember correctly there will be a nice small one for the top of the page and the nice big one for the barcode cover sheet. Make lots of copies and start playing with the copy function and good old fashioned scissors.

Also, if you read Lorelle's guide, she recommends you keep make two copies of everything you send in, one for you and one for your SO.

    Cheers

  7. Great post.

Hopes it helps those in similar situation.

Honesty with the customs agents at the POE or Border is the best policy! I too dealt with the customs people few weeks ago, I crossed back into the USA from Canada after spending the weekend at an auto race in Quebec, (I drive the large auto transporter loaded with 2 cars and all the gear involved with the race team), anyway this is the first time for me in this type of situation for the race team and the customs officer asked me several questions and pointed out where I was wrong about my load list, but could tell I was being honest with him and let me pass with out stopping me.

So whenever dealing with the customs and border people, be calm and honest.

My husband has visited twice during his visa journey on the UK visa waiver program.

Calm and honesty is the key. :)

Both times he made sure to bring proof of ties to his home country. Job verification, house hold bills etc....

He didn't need it, but it was a comfort to have just in case.

The second time he was questioned and spoke honestly that he was here to visit his wife and children.

    The agent was very sympathitic.

  8. My understanding is that the K visas were introduced to "Keep familys together". It says so on the USCIS website somewhere. CR1/IR1 where taking so long to process that the congress put together the K visas so that the fiance/spouse could enter the US and then complete the permenant visa application from the US.

Apparently the NVC has sped up some in recent years. (Although imho it is still way to slow.)

You must have the CR1/IR1 visa in the end. K3 visa is just a temporary visa.

If you expect difficulty in processing or the embassy in the country that your wife is coming from is slow, check out the Foreign Embassy and Consulate Forum or the Forum devote to that neck of the woods, then you should consider the K3. In our case, the IR1 and the K3 have hit our embassy at the same time so the K3 has not been faster at all, but that is all due to the IMBRA fiasco. We will not be completing the K3.

    :)

  9. Even tho Chex now has a wheat chex, and not just the rice and corn ones, its still not the same as Shreddies. They taste different, and the texture is not quite right.

I can't get home again until maybe November sometime (I'm hoping), and I can't afford to order on-line. So I'm just whinging. I Want Shreddies! *sniff*

A few years ago when my husband lived in Lenoir I found an organic brand that was almost just like Shreddies, better than Chex anyway, but I can't find it anywhere here in Morganton and I can't remember what brand it was.

I really miss those good good whole wheat Shreddies!

oooooo, I just thought of something! Cara is coming to Charlotte to visit, I should ask her to bring me some

ah well...I now return you to your regularly scheduled programme.

I ate non stop when I was home...Smarties, coffee crisp......my hubby had his first experience with chips and grav  y..he had never heard of that......but of course Timmies was the best...he is now hooked as well

Shreddies live under a different name here but I believe it is the same thing.

Now where can I get a good breakfast sausage.

    Cheers

  10. Wrumug,

We are in the same boat. Both Visas seem to have completed processing at the same time and we have received a letter from each stating that they are on their way to the Embassy. There is no question in my mind which visa to continue with at this point and that is our IR1.

It will be interesting to see which interview packet arrives first, the IR1 or K3 and if the K3 gets the over ride.

I believe you Aussiewench....I just want to see it in action. :)
