  1. Hey Guys! Happy New Year.
Happy to be in this section of the forum here with all of you. Congrats to all on getting to this step of naturalization. Finally!

I Applied for the passport today in NYC!

I am getting both the Passport Book and the Card. Paid with money order. Standard delivery.

    B-)
Can't wait to get them and book my first international trip in a very long time!
2016 is going to be a year of traveling! I hope that's the case for all of us.

Passport=Traveling - one of the best things in life!
    Safe Travels, my friends!

    :energy:

  2. Thank you!!! Congrats to you too, my friend!

I could have been sworn in a month ago, but USCIS sent me a letter 6 days before the oath ceremony to let me know while I was in LA for work. I was like, what the whaaaaat.... Had to reschedule. But luckily they were able to quickly turn it around just in time for my birthday, the holidays, the end of the year! Super excited to start 2016 as a US citizen. #wunderbar

    Next on the list:

    Passport

Updating driver's license, social security, credit cards (Because of the name change)

    Anywho....buncha awesomeness...

    #happyholidays

I was wondering about your oath, spadevil. Congratulations! That's a great holiday gift.

  3. I had my interview at Federal Plaza on Aug 20th based on 3 years marriage and I was recommended for approval and my online status is still reading "interview scheduled". Any one in NY had interview on or around that date? I hope to get some replies. Thanks!

Klang78, did you request a name change with your n400. I did and reading this forum I realize that is what is causing my delay. My interview was also on Aug 20th

  4. my online status changed to the same info as the email I got and the letter, the only difference is that they did not have the date of the oath like the letter did.

I wonder if well be at the same ceremony since our interview was a day apart? :)

Thanks! my status is still the same.....From what I am gathering the delay is due to my name change.

C'mon Judge Judy, We're waiting here!

    :clock::clock::clock:

  5. It doesn't HAVE to be that way, but it happens often enough that it's probably not a coincidence. Some people are placed inline before then and some have to wait longer. But many people are placed in line exactly one month before the anniversary.

When you are placed inline for an interview doesn't really mean anything... you could then wait one day or four months for your interview to be scheduled. But it's certainly a nice indication that your application is progressing.

The only definite rule is that you can't become a citizen before your 3 (or 5) years are up. That's federal law and therefore USCIS policy.

Some offices go further and will not schedule an interview for before your 3rd (or 5th) anniversary, but that's office policy, not USCIS policy.

    Insightful! Thank you, JimmyHou!
