  1. Filled-up DS-230 singed part I

    Fileld-up DS-230 unsigned part II

    together with:

    1. Her original birth certificte

    2. Her original marriage contract

    3. Original death certificate of husband (if widow)

    4. NBI Clearance

    5. 2 photographs

    6. Biographic copy of her passport

I think that's about it. If I miss something, I know there will be other people who can fill that for me.

Marriage certificate is not needed if you only petitioning your Mom.

  2. A nasty battle between factions of Legislative District 20 Republicans and fears that it could turn violent in the wake of what happened in Tucson on Saturday prompted District Chairman Anthony Miller and several others to resign.

Miller, a 43-year-old Ahwatukee Foothills resident and former campaign worker for U.S. Sen. John McCain, was re-elected to a second one-year term last month. He said constant verbal attacks after that election and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family's safety.

In an e-mail sent a few hours after Saturday's massacre in Tucson that killed six and injured 13, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Miller told state Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen he was quitting: "Today my wife of 20 yrs ask (sic) me do I think that my PCs (Precinct Committee members) will shoot at our home? So with this being said I am stepping down from LD20GOP Chairman...I will make a full statement on Monday."

Pullen was in Washington, D.C. and not available for comment, an employee in his office said. State party spokesman Matt Roberts said he could not discuss details of the district's disputes but, "Anthony has been a good Republican and was really involved in LD20."

The newly-elected Dist. 20 Republican secretary, Sophia Johnson of Ahwatukee, first vice chairman Roger Dickinson of Tempe and Jeff Kolb, the former district spokesman from Ahwatukee, also quit. "This singular focus on 'getting' Anthony (Miller) was one of the main reasons I chose to resign," Kolb said in an e-mail to another party activist. Kolb confirmed the contents of the e-mail to the Republic.

District 20 includes parts of Chandler, south Tempe and Ahwatukee Foothills. Republican state Rep. Bob Robson of Chandler and Sen. John McComish of Ahwatukee said they had supported Miller as chairman and were sorry to see him go. "It's too bad," McComish said. "He didn't deserve to be hounded out of office."

A longtime Republican activist, McComish said contentious battles for local party leadership posts are nothing new, but this one appears to be more extreme, especially since there are no partisan elections in 2011 and by next year district boundaries will change.

Kolb said the Tea Party and associated conservative groups ran their slate of candidates for seven Dist. 20 leadership positions, winning three -- the treasurer's post and two vice-chairmanships. However, Miller beat challenger Thomas Morrissey for the top post after Sheriff Joe Arpaio made a personal appearance for Morrissey. Phone messages left for Morrissey were not returned.

After the election and around the December holiday season, some of Miller's detractors made an issue of the residency of Dickinson, the first vice-chairman. Dickinson, who did not return phone messages, was a supporter of Miller's and allegedly moved to a different precinct within Dist. 20 last year, making him ineligible for the leadership post. Miller said he told the critics he would handle the matter after the holidays. In the meantime, a series of accusatory e-mails was exchanged among party members. Some blasted Miller's support of McCain, called him a "McCainiac with a penchant for violating the rules" and a "McCain hack."

Members of the Ahwatukee Tea Party group did not respond to e-mails seeking comment.

Miller said when he was a member of McCain's campaign staff last year has been criticized by the more conservative party members who supported Republican opponent J.D. Hayworth. The first and only African-American to hold the party's precinct chairmanship, Miller said he has been called "McCain's boy," and during the campaign saw a critic form his hand in the shape of a gun and point it at him.

"I wasn't going to resign but decided to quit after what happened Saturday," Miller said. "I love the Republican Party but I don't want to take a bullet for anyone."

  4. Hello guys, im currently self studying for CNA with American Red Cross. Can anybody tells me what to expect for the state board exam? pls. if you have any ideas pls. drop it here. i greatly appreciate your input.

CNA's state exam is pretty easy. Written exam are all multiple choices. But, as far as I know you have to pass the Skills Test first. If you are able to pass the training, I'm sure you can do it.

    Good Luck!

  5. Hello and good luck to all on VJ. Unfortunately, I didnt have good luck and although we tried hard for a long hard year, my marriage is headed for divorce. There is no need to get into who is to blame- it just didnt work out. Part of the blame could be age and cultural differences. Anyway, my question is since she has only been in the country for a year and and a few months, about the same amount of time we have been married, and we didnt stay married for two years, can my soon to be ex-wfie still be deported? I dont want her to stay in the USA- i think she will make my life miserable if she stays and since our marriage was the reason she came here, if that no longer exists, can i have her deported? any ccurate information will be appreciated. I hope and pray all on here have wonderful lasting relationships. i wasnt so lucky

  6. Hi there B-)

My wife is here from Ukraine on a K3. We've filed for the green card and are waiting for the interview. She has a work permit and thus a SS#. She's been working for 3 months now at a bank.

Does anybody have any suggestions or things they have tried to establish credit for their partner from another country? We were told to try and get some department store cards since they are easier to get than a 'bank' card ... but of course she got declined because she has no credit history.

So basically ... how do you get credit here ? Mine is toast so I can't bring her on to mine. She wants to establish some on her own.

    Thanks

I had no credit history when I came here 5 yrs ago. So here's what I did ;Applied for Discovery Card online and got declined.Applied for Chase and was approved for $200 credit limit. Btw, Chase has no annual fee

which is good. After I got the credit card in the mail, I used it right away, $50 worth of grocery. After I got the monthly statement, I paid them off before the due date and used it again. That started. Then I applied for few store cards like Kohls and JCP.

Paying more than the minimum and paying if off early and not wait 'till due date can slowly build her credit. Once your wife has credit card, don't encourage her to apply more credit cards. Once she get her credit established, she get more pre-approved offers than she need.

    Hope that helps.

  7. After about a year since making the I-130, we have received three sets of papers from the Dept of Homeland Security etc. / National Visa Centre etc

    1. An I-979 Notice of Action sent to my wife (permanent US resident)

    2. Letter to my wife in USA regarding payment of Affidavit of Support.

Apparently, because of my wife’s location we cannot submit forms and documents electronically, but we have to pay online, return to the website three days later, print Document Cover Sheet, go to the receipt page, and follow some instructions there. Those instructions remain a mystery (would be useful to know in advance), although there are two sets of instructions re fee paying; the first looks thorough and then the second is more detailed. They’re really aiming for clarity aren’t they!!!!

And anyway, telling people in certain geographical areas that their application can’t be processed online and then telling them to pay online seems like asking people to doubt that they are following the instructions correctly. Nowhere in the two sets of instructions does it say what to do with the printed Document Cover Sheet, or how to “submits forms and documents physically by postal mail”. Those details must be in the mystery instructions that we’ll find out online “three days later”.

The letter says, “Payers who are unable to use the online payment method must….”

So do they mean anyone who has a technical problem, or do they mean all people who don’t live in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Guangzhou or Montreal?

This mailing included a form for naming an agent or attorney to receive mail on my wife’s behalf. Not going to assign anyone for this job and we’ll take care of this ourselves. Is this advisable?

QUESTION: There is a note: “If the applicant intends to adjust status with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), please contact the NVC before making any payments or taking further action”.

Please can anyone tell me what this means?

    - The applicant is my wife (the US permanent resident), not me (the UK citizen) ? This is confusing because elsewhere they refer to the “applicant” and the “petitioner”, which as far as I can see are the same person (my wife is applying, in other words, ‘petitioning’ for me to move to the US).

    - What is meant by “adjust status”? I assume it means when my wife becomes a citizen (about a year form now) ?

    3. I received, in the UK, pretty much the same as number 2 above (but without the invoice). Looks like I also have to complete a form for naming an agent or attorney to receive mail on my behalf.

I am pretty sure I “get” what these forms are asking and I am being pedantic just because the instructions and information provided are so badly constructed and this matter is too important to make any error. Thinking, “I’m almost entirely certain what they mean” is not sufficient.

Thanks in advance for any clarification or confirmation.

    John

The petitioner is your wife which is the US permanent resident and is petitioning you. While you is the applicant which is the intending immigrant.

  8. In the future you may want to phrase your questions to be more specific so you have a better chance of getting the answers you are looking for...I thought it was you talking about petitioning a child under 21, not your mother...I based my answer on your displayed timeline.

I think my question was very clear. (LPR mom and not USCitizen petitioning a child under 21), but thank you for pointing that out :)

  9. I only support my dog I left in the Philippines. Not my family, my dad, my brothers.. etc.. etc.. even though I send the money to my dad. It is not for him. It is for my dog. Because the dog is my responsibility. My dog can't work. My family can!

Wow, this is the first time I've ever heard. So are you married to the dog? So, your dog is more important than your family, or you are just making a big bad joke trying to impressed everyone here. And please don't tell us that your family does not need your financial help, because if they can, why can't they support your dog. Don't try to be a hypocrite.

  10. Just updating my timeline for my oath taking ceremony on the 20th of Jan.

  11. Last night I just booked my wife's trip home for the holidays. It's non-refundable and non-changeable, but that didn't concern me when I booked it because everything about how I did it made sense at the time. Now that I've had overnight to think about it, I'm worried I could have made a huge mistake.

My wife is from Russia and holds a Russian passport. You can see from my signature where we're at in the AOS process. I purchased her airline tickets in her married name, which made sense to me since it's now her legal name. Where I'm starting to get worried is that she has very little in the way of identification that shows this as her name. Here's what she has:

Russian passport with her maiden name

South Dakota driver's license in her maiden name (we can't get it changed to her married name until she gets GC or EAD)

Certified copy of our marriage license

Advanced Parole documents in her married name (with her photo of course)

Do you think she'll be okay, or is she going to have problems?

Base on my own experience, she should be fine. When I traveled home last year, I also purchased a ticket on my married name not the same on my passport, because my passport was and is still on my maiden name. But, when I checked in, the airlines staff asked my marriage license and greencard which are both on my married name. So, tell your wife to have the marriage license on hand with her when she check in.

Your other option is, call the airlines. Btw, I flew through American Airlines.

  12. Hello everyone! Just got a quick inquiry, My husband (USC) and I (LPR) are filing to petition my kids, the receipt date on the NOA is August 22, 2009 and the Notice Date is October 22, 2009. They are in another country, can anybody here tell me their experience on how long and the process til my kids gets their interview date.........

    need help here, thanks guys!

who petitioned your kids, you or your husband? Provide more details and pls fill up your timeline.

  13. You are required to submit evidence and explanation of a criminal record with I-485.

There is a sheet with lots of yes/no questions on. If you answer yes to any of the questions then you should furnish your application with details of any convictions - traffic tickets under $60 do not count.

Hiring a lawyer is just a waste of money. You were a kid when it happens. It was erased already since you become an adult.

oh wait I forgot...it depends on how serious the crime was.You can talk to a lawyer for free consultation.

  15. See the Visa Bulletin to see how long Filipinos have been waiting for visas. http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_1360.html

You have several choices. You can take one of them or take both. A person can have multiple petitions at the same time.

    1. You, the US citizen, petitions for your siblings (F4 family preference category cases). The current wait is 22-23 years. Does not matter if they get married. Their spouses and unmarried children under age 21 will be eligible for visas as derivative beneficiaries. You and the petitioned sibling must be alive in 22-23 years in order for that sibling and his/her family to be eligible for visas.

    2. You, the US citizen, petition for your parents. They will be Immediate Relatives and it should take about 6-12 months for them to become LPRs. Immediately after getting their green cards, one of them can petition for your siblings. It does not matter that your parents will not be working, you can always be a joint sponsor on the I-864 for your siblings. (There is a potential problem that I will discuss below).

The 21 years old will definitely be in the F2b category (LPR petitioning for an unmarried child over 21). It takes about 11 years for that child to get a visa. Any unmarried children under age 21 will be derivative beneficiaries.

The 18 years old (maybe 19 by the time your parent petitions) will be in the F2a category (LPR petitioning for an unmarried child under 21). It takes about 4 years for a child to get a visa. However, age is determined at the time a visa becomes available. When a visa becomes available in the F2a category, the child will be over 21 and aged out into the F2b category unless CSPA applies. So the wait could be either 4 or 11 years after filing.

The potential problem that I mentioned is that it is not a sure thing for you to petition for your parents. If your parents are old and not able to work, the US embassy will look at them as potential public charge. As LPRs, your parents will not qualify for Social Security or Medicare. They will need to provide proof that they will not become public charge. Your ability to support them may not be enough. You may need to buy them health insurance to overcome the embassy's determination that they will become public charges. See Tayrivers many posts on this issue. I believe it cost about a $1000/month for the heath insurance on Tayrivers' parents.

If a beneficiary gets married before the petitioning parent becomes a US citizen, the petition is automatically withdrawn. That's it. The end. No visa is possible.

Furthermore, if the petitioning parent dies before the child gets a visa, the petition is also automatically withdrawn.

    ----------------

If you go with choice number 2, you need to consider if your parents will be around in 12 years. If not then it may be worth it for them to come here. Also, it is a huge financial burden to care for elderly parents who will not qualify for any old age benefits. It could affect the budget for you, your spouse and your children. Not an easy route to go.

Thank you for the reply. Very much appreciated. I think I will petition my parents first. They are both on their mid-50's. If they can't work that's okay for me. I have health and dental insurance from my work so I can put them as my dependents since I don't have any dependents right now.

Most health and dental insurance benefits covers only children dependents. It is highly unlikely that your work insurance allows for other dependents. You better check on that or your parents' cases may end up costing you and your spouse a lot more than you think.

In fact, I have never head of an employer's benefit plan that provide for a parent dependent.

    Thanks I'll check it out...

  17. Hello Everyone,

I will be a US citizen in a month or so. I am planning on petitioning my brother who is 18 yrs old and my sister who is exactly 21yrs old. They are both unmarried. I am from the Philippines, and I am wondering how many years does it take before the visa is available for them.

Also, my other option to make it faster is to petition my parents first and then they can petition my brother and sister when they get there PR. But, I am worried because my parents won't be working here , so they will not have an income or and ITR to show. Instead, me and my husband will support them or they will be our dependent.

What is the best option to do first...petioning my siblings or my parents first?

Thanks, any reply is highly appreciated
