I was thinking to call since I have seen later cases been approved already. Maybe it takes longer because we're both divorced so is more papers for USCIS to look at.

I just received a text saying our package was approved!! I did give up and call the customer service center on the 5th of Feb and ask them to look into what was happening. We hadn't seen any updates since they received the petition on 5 Jan. I wasn't even sure it had made it to California. They tried to tell me the USCIS site says it can be up to 5 months. I did mention that I am on this site and have seen all the petitions that were filed after ours getting NOA2's and interviews. And that they are supposed to take the cases in the order they are received. They put in a request to have an officer look into what happened. I just got a text saying our case was updated. So I checked the website and it says it has been approved!

Not sure if the phone call helped or what happened to the case, they don't say. But I am very happy I found this forum and Thank You all for the information and updates!! Without that we could still be waiting for a reply. Good luck everyone, we are very excited about getting the NOA2!

The USCIS has couriers who mass pick up all of their packages. So it's at the post office now waiting for the couriers to pick them up. They probably wont pick it up until Tuesday since Monday is a holiday.

The holiday is the 16th. They should pick up the mail Monday. But it may take a day or two to send you an update on that. It took couple days before i got the email confirmation.

Does the NOA-1 the first step in getting approved? Can I call a number to see if they received my papers?

The NOA-1 is the receipt of your papers. It will explain more when you get it in the mail and it will have your receipt number on it.

Just was checking our status on the USCIS site and it says that our case was approved today!!! SO EXCITED! It must have been updated pretty recently because it still only had the NOA1 notice up when I checked earlier this afternoon and I have not received any of the e-mail/text notifications

Congratulations!! That is so exciting! I can only hope that it is the same for us. And thank you everyone, at least I know the system is supposed to be updated even if it may not always be. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Congratulations to all those getting their NOA2's!! That is awesome! I am afraid they may have lost our package and I am getting a little worried about where it maybe. I haven't received anything since the NOA1 on the 7th of Jan. Looks like the California office is pushing through the cases pretty quickly so it makes no sense why ours is not. Hopefully that is not a bad sign.... Does anyone know if the USCIS website updates as the case is worked or does it only reflect the last notice they sent out to you?

If it helps, fix your timeline to get a better estimate. Because you live in Washington, you more than likely weren't transferred between service centers. I know you Mail your petition to Texas, but you never go to the Texas service center. Edit it so that it just says California and you'll get a closer estimate.

It also throws off the data on the forums for those who are actually at Texas.

We got our confirmation of acceptance on the 5th of January, but have heard nothing since. We were transferred to the California service center. I hope to hear something soon, I see others that filed around the same time are getting the NOA2 already.
