*3 months from the date that you moved to CA. So you can file the N-400 now: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-d-chapter-6 Your CA driver's license and the tax filing would be proof of that.

In addition to filing Form N-400, also file an AR-11 change of address: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

thank you for your response. i will do this

  2. Hi guys.

I just started filing online the N400, at the point where  my address was asked, it was also noted that I will need to wait 3 months before applying for naturalization once I change my address. Now, I moved at the end of January 2020 from NYC to LA, right before the pandemic, I have never thought to notify the USCIS of my new address in CA, but I have obtained a CA driver license last year, and filed my taxes here in CA. Wouldn't the USCIS know by now my new address? Because the current insanity is going on now days, I'm afraid something will change soon, and I want to start the process soon here in LA. However, work may take me in another state at the beginning of next year. Would you guys just update USCIS of my new address now, or just wait when/if I move to another state next year?

    thank you

  3. Guys I apologize for my ignorance on the matter,  I was reading the post and a question came up to my mind,  so she does't work so she has no income to report, she will file jointly and report "0" with husband so she has a Tax Return to show USCIS for her Citizenship application, but doesn't even matter for USCIS that she actually have no income at all? Hypothetically if she would file alone and file "0" income and all they would care is to see the actual Tax Return?

  4. wow it sounds great! I m glad everything went well and it was pretty easy, I have my interview at 7:45am on a tuesday in NYC, I m trying to organize all documents I need as bonifides, I have lots of pictures but as bills together we have bank account, family plan with AT&T and health insurance hope that should be ok.

  5. Okay. Well that likely means that your I-485 is sitting at the New York local field office and they are waiting to schedule you for an interview. So, probably in another month or so, they will schedule your interview. I think they send out the notice about a month before your interview.

My I-485 hasn't updated since they received evidence in April. I am not even at the "ready to schedule interview" point, yet. :(

really? I think they update the status of my I-485 after two months or so, well at least I feel better about it as I thought I did something wrong filing it or sending documents

  6. I've been checking on that for quiet sometime it has been on : "you case is ready to be schedule for an interview" forever, it has never changed any messages at all

I just hope they received that

  7. ah, so basically anybody who filled in October or after will have more wait then the previous, cause I know different people that got the greencard withing actually 3 months so I was just wondering anything was ok since it has been 9 months almost. Also a couple of months after I filed it I received a mail from USCIS requiring a missing document for the I-485 so I called 2 time already asking if they received the copy of that but they did not have a clear answer about that

  8. Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were saying you got a Notice of Action in the mail TODAY.

    To answer your question.....

Unfortunately the National Benefits Center (NBC) does not show processing times for the forms I-485 and I-130. I don't know why. The I-130 will have to approved first. Then, I think they send your I-130 and I-485 to your local office in the state you live in. Then, you wait to be scheduled for an interview. Maybe they schedule the interview when they approve the I-130... I don't know for sure.

But, if you click on Processing Times here at Visa Journey, you can look on the right side of the page and see where each service center is for processing certain forms. Under I-130 for IR1/CR1 you will see that the NBC is currently processing cases from January 11, 2015. You filed your papers in January so, you should receive approval on your I-130 very soon. What is the Priority date listed on your Notice of Action? It should be the same date that the NBC received your case.

just checking now the priority date on the I-797C for the I-485 is December 31 2014 actually

  9. Hey Gianluca,

First off, what kind of case did you file? Are you being sponsored by a U.S. spouse (wife)?

Did you file while you were already in the U.S.? And, did you file the I-130 and I-485 together?

If you answered yes to those questions above, then your case is very similar to mine. I am from Canada and married to a U.S. citizen and we filed our case while I was inside the U.S. on February 06, 2015 and they received it on February 10th, 2015.

It sounds as though you were instructed to send your I-485 to the Chicago lock-box but, that is not where it is processed. That is just a receiving box. I sent my forms there too. Then, the forms will go from there to one of 5 processing centers depending on your type of case and where you plan to live in the U.S. My case is being processed at the National Benefits Center in the state of Missouri. Do you have a Notice of Action form that you received after they received your I-485 form? It will either be from: Missouri, California, Vermont, Nebraska or Texas. Once you know what service center is processing your case, you can then find out what their processing times are. It will not be Chicago. After your case is processed, they will then send it to a local office somewhere near you in New York. Then, they will schedule you for an interview.

    I hope this helps.

Hi, so I actually checked the mail came with the notice of action of the I-485 and it came from Lee's Summit Missouri but If I couldn't find on USCIS time processing web page.....is there something I don't get??

I see yes all the answer above are yes, thank you for the info I will check the receipt and see about that.

    thank you again

  11. Hi guys, I m trying to check on processing time because I filed my I-485 in January USCIS received it on February 18 today is August 20 and they still have to call me for the interview and wondering something is wrong. Anyway if you check cases were filed in Chicago IL right here https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do it says "Processing time frame" October 12 2014 and Field Office Processing Dates for Chicago IL as of: June 30, 2015, what does it mean? that forms were filed in October were processed on June 30??

    I don't get it

  12. Search for your field office at the bottom of this page and it will show you your local office's processing time: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do Not really that accurate, but it will give you an idea if your local office is backlogged.

Took us 8 months from filing to interview date.

thank you guys for the info

I only just had my interview today and I filed my papers in mid november...

    hiw did it go?
