  1. Congrats!

My wife and I were in the Charlotte office today(for the second Monday in a row....we had to come back, more on this later) and we were approved today, she got her green card....umm the stamp in the passport!

She needed a translator, and that really helped us out and I had to show some extra paper work but we were prepared.

I am brief about all this now because its still sinking in so I will write a full review soon about the two trips to the interviews and why.

    Congrats again!!!

I want to know what happened, I mean why did you go twice. My interview it's tomorrow at the same Charlotte office.

Hi M. Thanks. Some things to think about:

(1)If your spouse does not speak good English please arrange for a translator to assist him/her. VERY

important. Way before our interview I stressed to my wife, who is Russian, that she should have a

translator help her, but she insisted to go it alone. Plus our Officer was very quiet and I even had trouble

understanding her. So from the first instant I knew she was going to clam up. My wife understands me

fairly well but has trouble with say some of my friends, living in the south has its disadvantages, plus

English is as we all know a hard language to learn. I feel for her. I want to learn Russian and she is

teaching me some, but we agreed English will come first.

(2)Have all your papers with you, even 2006 Tax return and recent pay stubs. When I submitted our

papers for the AOS I had not yet filed my 2006 return for self employment. I did however estimate my

yearly income. Bring lots of papers, bills and accounts with both your names on them.

We elected to return for a follow up interview a week later because my Wife did not fully understand the

officer and her question. She really went into depth the second interview about Communism, and rightly

so because the box was checked "YES" on our AOS form. Also she wanted to see my 2006 tax return and

I had just filed them late this past week. So she kindly allowed us to return in a weeks time with a

translator for my wife and my 2006 return. I also gathered extra check stubs from my wife's work, she is

self employment like myself, and that really saved us because I alone did not meet the mark. Which makes

me sad because I make over 38,000 a year but only showed over 4,000 profit and she pointed this out on

line 37 of my 1040. Anyway I always knew that if my wife and I were together we can make it.

    Good luck tomorrow!

  3. Thanks for the reply. Her interview is this morning in Moscow and I am waiting to hear word(actually I will call her). So if all goes well I will buy my tickets and her's at the same time so that way we know for sure there will be no problems leaving together on the same flight. At least I hope so anyway.

Got my fingers crossed and she is very well prepared.

  4. Hello all!

Does anyone have any advice for me and my Russian fiancee? I plan on flying over after her interview and then we try and buy a round trip ticket for her at the airport...say with Delta(this is who I have used twice now to fly to her, it was great and I thought the prices were ok but fuel prices have recently caused the fare to rise a good bit). Is it possible for me to exchange my return ticket for another one when we buy her tickets so we can share the same flight home? What is the best way to do this?

  5. The Russian Embassy doesn't allow anyone except the Beneficiary into even the waiting room or so the site says.

Im thinking of going anyway and sitting outside on the curb. I want to be there for her, I really do but the money part too is a big deal. I can get over there and back for under 1200.00. I'll just have to work extra hard and sell some stuff on ebay to pay for the airfare. If so it will be my third trip to Russia in under a year!

  6. How do you get the reference number?

    Thanks, Larry

What ref # the MOS #? Call and ask NVC for the MOS on your case.

Once it reaches Moscow check the Embassy site in Moscow and look for interview sched. dates.

I found out this morning thru a email that our case had arrived and a date set for the interview is set on Aug. 1st!

This, after calling three time; yesterday and monday and last friday to the Moscow embassy ( at 3 am my time eastern stnd time) using a credit card no less and getting charged up to $7.50 (plus a .08 cent currency conversion fee!) a call and the very nice lady said each time that 'they had not got our case in yet and call back in about a month'.!?! LOL. D'OH!!! Dont take that line...keep calling and send out emails to the consulate @

    consulmo@state.gov

and request an email letting you know when your case has arrived and also when the interview will be etc. keep sending it until they reply.

    1 888 222 5673 have your credit card ready :D

I really love Russia and Russians...you just have to stick with 'em and ride it out. :)

  7. I didn't know that you can e-mail the embassy with the request for packet #3. Do you know who should do this, my fiance, or myself? He should be the one receiving the packet 3, right?

Either of you can e-mail and ask for it. In our case, I e-mailed and asked for packet 3 to be sent to me via e-mail AND mailed to my fiance's mailing address as written on the petition. They had no problem with this at all. Just be sure you include your case number and A# in the e-mail so they know how to reference your case.

    Good luck!

I just found this post and fired of a email to the Moscow Embassy...I sure hope the reply. I called on the 25th and they had not gotten our approved petiton yet. Sicne Ive sent 4 emails including this one and no reply yet. Im going to call again this morning to see if it has arrived. Im keeping my fingers crossed as well as my fiancee.

    Thanks for the info!

  8. Hello AussieW,

so I look at our NOA2 now and see no Priority Date...it's blank. Is this ok?

Also a question about the NOA2's "Notice Type:"

    Our NOA2 says:

"Approval Notice Valid from 04/24/2006 to 08/24/2006"

Does this mean her interview will be before August 8th? Ive looked on the US Embassy Moscow site and found sched. interview dates for May 27 thru July 27 and did not see our MOS ? WAC #. Ive been calling Moscow off and on for a week now and sending out emails and so far our case has not arrived. She told me it could be up to 4 weeks before they get it but I understand that DHL is quick from the NVC to other embassy. I can mail somthing from home to SPB Ru using Global Express and it gets there in 8-9 days tops. Any help or info would be great. Im just setting back and working my tail off waiting for our big day! :)

Does this mean her interview will be before August 8th?

Opps i meant August the 24th. Sorry.

  9. Great info...thanks!

My very first post on this site...I have been lurking for quiet some time..please forgive me.

I used called the NVC and they said our case was mailed to Moscow on the May 18th...when I check DHL they have one that went to Mscw but was picked up on the 23rd and made it on the 15th...God I hope that is ours!

I love this place...it has been a great comfort to read thru the post and info and has helped us alot during our quest to reach our goal of getting married and being together. I did not find this site until after I filed our K1 back in Jan on the 27th...I found the site days later and almost got sick because I found the read before you file page on the K1 and realized I had forgotten to put a intent to marry paper in the packet...I freaked and called a local congressman and asked for advice and made up a paper to send along to Texas, then found out the case went to Cali. Anyway I had included in the K1 papers a letter signed by both of us that we did want to get married and that we did want to live in the USA, but it was about how we met in SPB Ru and I asked her to marry me...so I guess it did the trick. We are on our way to reaching our goal!

Had to share....I m out of the closet now...lol :)
