  1. Hello,

My wife and our baby are traveling to the Philippines and planning to stay for about 5 weeks. I know that a US citizen is not supposed to stay beyond 21 days without approval from the BI. But, this is a baby, and she is only staying a little over 30 days. Will my wife still need to go to the BI and file for the extension for the baby, or will there not be a problem when they go to Manila to leave beyond the 30 day limit with no extension?

  2. Hi,

My wife decided not to have vaccinations in the Philippines during her medical exam. Now, she is here and has a blank Vaccination record. 1st Question: She has no written documentation of previous vaccinations, can she just get them now from my family doctor, or does she have to get them from a "panel " physician? If so, which vaccinations are required and which are optional? She is here on a "k1" fiance visa. Also, she applied for her social security number yesterday, and the clerk there said it will arrive in 5-10 business days, but it will expire when her 90 days from point of entry (I-94) expires. We already applied for AOS and EAD. How long does the EAD usually take to arrive? Will the EAD suffice to keep her SS# from expiring? or does she need the Green card? How long does it take for the Green Card to arrive?

  4. HI,

My fiance and I are making final preparations for interview. A couple of questions: 1) I am confused about this CFO seminar, is the counseling sessions and the issuing of the certificate and stamp all take place in the same building (in manila called "PRISM" building) or does she have to go to two different places? 2) When she goes to DELBROS counter, can she give them address of hotel she is staying at in manila for delivery of her VISA, instead of her home address? This way, she can leave to America directly from Manila, and it will be much faster than if she has to return to San Carlos City. Thanks for all of your help.

  5. HI,

Kristine, my fiance from Philippines, has received her interview appointment date! It's August 10, 2006 at 6:30 am. I received this information by calling NVC at (202) 663-1225, so all of you who want a quicker update of interview dates, call that number. They are very helpful! Since I cannot be with her during interview, I am calling on all those who have interview dates around that same date to reply to this topic to possibly help her get through this with some friendly visajourney support. Also, I have a question for those who have been through the interview already, can she choose to pick up the visa instead of having it delivered? Anyway, thanks fellow visajourney members for all your support and encouragement!

  6. HI,

Everytime I call the NVC, I press the button to get an operator and they are always busy and say to call back later. I have tried calling at all different times of day and it is always busy  I just want to check to see if they received my case yet since i did receive my NOA2 in snail mail. Will they send me an email? or snail mail? Is there a good time to call when I will get a live person on the line?

  7. HI,

Thanks for the help John and Marlene. Unfortunately, none of that news is good news for me. Anyway, my approval says it is only good until 7/9/06. Do I have to apply for an extension since it takes so long for the interview to be set up?

  8. HI,

Just received my NOA2 on 3/10/06, yahoo! :P But, now I am wondering how long it will take before the interview date is set. Is there anything I can do to move this process along? How long after NOA2 does interview date usually come? I am a teacher and off for the summer, so it would be very convenient if interviewd occurred in June. Will my fiance still receive a "packet 3" or do they just send "packet 4" with interview and medical exam date these days? Any tips on what she should do over there to prepare for interview? Can we get VISA from office in Manila instead of waiting for delivery? So many questions. Please help if you can!

  9. HI,

Why did you call Dept. of State? Shouldn't you have called US Embassy in Manila? The reason I am asking is I have just received my NOA2 on 3/10/06 via email, and I want to know what to do next. Is there anyway to speed up when interview is given? Can anyone reading this help me? I am a school teacher and off for the summer and it would be really nice if our interview takes place in June or July so I can go through process with my fiance.

    Thanks,

    Matt&Kristine

    12-6-05 NOA1 date from CSC

    12-29-05 updated to correct address

3-10-06 NOA2!!! without even being "touched"

  11. Please describe what it means to be "touched". I have seen it next to many of your dates on your timelines!

I have not received an update regarding my case since Dec. 29. I received my NOA1 on Dec. 6. Does "touched" mean that they said something new when you type the case no. in the case status online webpage?

    Matt & Kristine :help:

  12. Hi,

What does it mean to be "touched"? I received my NOA1 on Dec. 6, 2005, and I see that they are now processing all applications through 12/31/05. But, the only update I have received occured several months ago when I corrected a typo in my address. Please explain how you know your case has been "touched"?
