For those people who received their passport...Did the website notify you before you received the passport or you just saw it in the mail box?

Both mine and my daughter's passport arrived before it was updated online. It still said "in the final processing stages". Actually, it still does (10+ days after I received it)...

In 2010 and 2011 I was in USA just for a month-30 days. I was living outside (India) rest of the time. I spend almost 11 months at a time out of USA and was still never questioned at immigrations.

Yes, I totally misunderstood you, sorry! I thought you meant that you were OUT of the US for a month, not IN the US for just a month. Then yes, you can not file for citizenship yet, unfortunately.

Well, they never "questioned" you because you did NOT spend more than 6 months at a time out of the country. It's totally ok to be gone for a month, twice, within the last 5 years. You won't have any problems.

Applied for a non-expedited passport (book) on 3/26 at the post office in Topeka, KS. Check cashed on 3/30, and I just tried tracking (didn;t even know this existed until reading it on here ) on 4/1.

Got sms/email today that oath was scheduled! Waiting for the mailman now I can't believe that next Wednesday I'll be a citizen!

Well, not everyone is a native speaker I know several people who moved here and they barely speak English. For them, the reading/writing and "test" parts are hard...

The reading/writing part is super easy, and the questions are, too. I listened to the CD one last time on the way to the interview, and she stopped after 6 questions once I got them right You'll be fine!

no, she did not give me the certificate right there. I don't think she can do that, there has to be a naturalization ceremony… She did say that normally KC schedules ceremonies every two months, and that if I couldn't make the one next week I'd have to wait about 2 months to get sworn in. The one I am going to is in KC, with for me is an hour drive, but I didn't want to wait 2 months for a ceremony in Topeka

I just had my test/interview this morning. Reading/writing, 6 civics/history questions, then she went (very thoroughly) through my application. She made 3 changes that I thought I would tell you about, in case anyone else is in a similar situation:

1) she changed my application from 3 years (based on marriage) to 5 years. I qualified for both, but she said that it would be easier if I apply for my self/on my own account. So she changed it on the form.

2) I had applied for a name change - I wanted to turn my maiden name into my middle name and my husband's last name into my new last name. She said I didn't need to wait until naturalization to do this, but since I provided my marriage certificate, she could just do and right there. She changed a couple of things in the forms, and had me sign everything (photos too) with my new name. With the naturalization certificate and my marriage certificate she said I can now apply for new documents (driver's license, SS card etc)

and 3) I had been out of the country for almost 7 months. She checked the dates in my expired passport, said she had read the letter provided by me why I had been out of the country (dissertation research/scholarship my husband had to do for his phD) and wrote a note on that part, approving my absence.

I had to sign these three changes on the last page of the N400.

Then she asked if I wanted to come to an (additional) oath ceremony scheduled for next Wednesday, which I could attend since my name change was not based on my naturalization any longer. I said yes (of course) and she said I should get the letter in the next couple of days!

Hopefully now it'll be all done/over with next Wednesday Good luck to all of you with your interviews - that part was really not bad at all!

Did you get your interview date yet? I also thought it would be scheduled about a month out - but in my case, they scheduled me almost TWO months out (got scheduled on 1/20 for a 3/11 interview). Which in your case might complicate matters...

Interview letter received today (1/22) for interview in Kansas City on 3/11!

We did too. Apparently they are asking for it again.

In my yellow letter, they asked me to bring in documents that prove my continuous residence in the US (I lived abroad for almost 7 months). I had provided that info/these documents in my application already. I think the yellow letter is generated automatically if the system detects something in the barcode that is a little "off".

It took 10 days for me until I got another sms/email saying that I was scheduled for the interview. So they are moving fast! You first get a notification that you were actually scheduled for an interview, then they send you the actual letter!

My status changed today from "in line for interview" to "interview scheduled"! Now I am waiting for the letter, and need to start studying, I guess Yippee!

Did you status change from "in line for interview" to "interview scheduled" before you received your letter (online? sms/email?) or did you just get the letter today?

Updating my info. Received interview letter today. Interview date set on 02/13/2015. There's a checklist that came with the letter and boy, they want a lot of things. Pretty much bringing almost the same documents you mailed in with the N-400 application. They want the originals.

Hi! I submitted my N400 in December, and yesterday I received a yellow letter. It just asked me to bring my passport and ID, but I saw on previous posts that most receive the yellow letter only when they check yes on the questions (if they have an arrest, tickets, etc.) I checked no on all of those, so I just wanted to see if this is something everyone gets.

I got a yellow letter, and I had no arrests, tickets, etc. BUT I have been out of the country for almost 7 months 4 years ago, so my yellow letter asked me to bring documentation relevant to that trip. Hope this helps

I have seen two types of updates. On Friday 9th January it says .

On January 9, 2015, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxxx. We will send you an interview notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by April 9, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Today, I checked the USCIS website and it removed the April, 9 time line and the notice says.

You are right, mine has changed like this, too! And I got my update on Friday (1/9), too… weird!

Do you guys ever receive e-mails about changes in your status? I have not received any e-mails from USCIS and I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to. The default font when completing the N400 form makes "1" and the letter "l" (lowercase L) look almost identical. My e-mail address has both "1"s and "l"s and I wonder if they've manually copied my e-mail address incorrectly.

Did you set up an account on the uscis website? Under Tool, you can do this. Then, after setting up the account, you can manually turn on "email notification" and "text notification". Both of these were NOT on yes when I created my account, and I had to switch them from no to yes to receive emails/text alerts.
