  1. I came on a K1 visa in March and was only able to go back to Canada in July. I got married 1 week after my arrival, but by the time we got the marriage certificate and all the paperwork ready it took an extra 2 weeks.

If you want your fiancée to be able to work right away, maybe the CR-1 visa is a better option for you.

As of the proof of income, if you don't reach the minimum you'll have to find a co-sponsor

She can still visit during the process, but remember it's always the border agent who have the last word, but with proof (letter from employer, lease, etc) she shouldn't have any problem

  2. Hello VJers

I just receive my combo card (Advance parole) and I'm planning on visiting my family next week. I'll be crossing by car and I have a few questions to make sure everything goes smoothly.

I've heard that Canadian resident are not allowed to drive US car across the border. If I have all my paper, am I consider non-resident?

I have a nexus card, am I allowed to use the nexus lane?

Also, my passport is under my maiden name and my card under my married name. Do I need to carry my marriage certificate? Any other documents? All my USCIS paper?

What should I expect? Will I be bring inside?

Any people cross on AP at the Champlain NY POE?

    any input appreciate

    Thanks

  3. Hello VJers,

i'm writing for a member of my family. He came to the State (from Canada) on a O1 visa. Things went badly with the employers and the visa owner is now unemployed. The old boss is threatening him to have him deported. Is that even allowed? Is he allowed in the States for 6 months (He's a Canadian)? Can he search for a new job in the States and have another company sponsoring him?

Can he schedule an info-pass for more informations?

    Thank you

  4. I have a lot of specialist and health problem so to avoid having to brings numerous pages and pay lots of $$$ what my physicians in Canada did was to write a summary one page letter with diagnosis, treatment and important stuff. For the rest I can always request copies if they need some old MRI or scan review or anything else.

So far it has been enough!

  5. Hello VJers!

I have a question regarding AP. I know the whole "re-entering is always at the discretion of the officer" but here's my situation.

I filed my AOS after entering on K1 and should receive my AP soon (I havent book anything yet and not planning to do so before having documents in hand) Husband and I are planning to go to Hawaii for honeymoon. Here's the thing. Tickets from Montreal (my hometown) to Hawaii are half the price of what we would be paying flying from where we live. We were thinking of going to Canada, visiting family for 2-3 days and then flying to Hawaii from Montreal. Is there any chance i'll have problems going back? would they find it weird to exit to country to re-enter to go on honeymoon?

    thanks

  6. Hi!

USCIS doesn't care if things seems to "go to fast" They want a proof that you have met in person within 2 years. Canada is really a low country fraud so they don't really scrutinize the relationship like they would do for other countries. When I had my interview done in Montreal for my K1, I had an album with pictures, cards etc. and the officer didnt even look at it. He barely asked questions. Just how we met (online) what was my fiance's job and a couple of questions regarding the wedding. Although we have a "reception wedding" plan, I didnt talked about it at the interview. I just told we were gonna get married at the courthouse as soon as possible (which we did 5 days after I came to the State)

Don't worry! The only thing you'll need is a lot of patience :)

  7. My NOA1 came April 16th and the letter came Saturday. My appointment was suppose to be may 5th but i'll be in Michigan to help my sister in law with her 3 kids and a new baby. So I booked an info pass this morning and went to my local office with my letter and my plane tickets and they did my biometrics right away. It wasn't a big deal at all, the office was almost empty!
