  1. CR1 - Affidavit of Support

    We just got a letter saying it was incomplete. We missed the box that states, for the FOURTH time on the application, that we are sponsoring ONE immigrant. *eye roll*

    Also a problem with the adjusted gross income vs total income.

    MY QUESTIONS: Do I have to reprint all 9 pages (x2 with joint sponsor) of the AOS I-864, or just the pages with corrections (3)?
    I read other people's letters that specifically state it must be the entire form, all pages, but our letter did NOT specify.

    Do we need to re-submit the tax forms?

    Both my AOS and my joint sponsor's had errors. We are in Hungary, and the joint sponsor is in the USA. Do we REALLY have to have the joint sponsor pages mailed from the USA to Hungary put in a different envelope, then mailed back to the NVC in the US? That will cost us another 20 days and lots more money. Since the corrections are now piecemeal, is there any reason to need them all mailed together... it might be cheaper to mail OUR forms to our joint sponsor and have him send them to the NVC...?

    How on earth do you get through to the NVC call center when there is no hold option?

  2. I have the same question regarding the proof of relationship. I will follow your thread. I hope we can get an answer soon

    From the website:

    If you completed Form I-864A, submit evidence that proves your relationship to the sponsor (the person who filed Form I-864). You can prove your relationship by submitting a photocopy of one of the documents below:

    • Birth certificate;
    • Marriage certificate;
    • Adoption certificate;
    • The petitioner or joint sponsor’s most recent Federal Income Tax Returns, if you are listed as a dependent; or
    • A signed, written statement describing the relationship

    I am not using form I-864A, so I don't need this. If you are using form A, you can simply include a photocopy of the certificate (however, as I understand, for the IV supporting documents, you need the original or CERTIFIED copy)

    I imagine if you're submitting the AOS and IV together, you don't need the same document twice in the same envelope.

    If they are being submitted separately, then yes, you probably need to submit it twice (a photocopy in the AOS, a certified copy with the IV)

    But again, this is not my situation, so if you want absolute answers from a "veteran" immigrant, keep checking!

  3. Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this is a repeat topic, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

    I'm gathering my i-864 affidavit of support package. I am the petitioner (for my Hungarian husband) and I have one joint sponsor (my father).

    1) How do I check off the cover sheet if some of the documents enclosed are Not Applicable for myself, but ARE included for my joint sponsor, and vice versa?

    2) Do I need to include forms that were already established in the I-130 (proof of relationship? marriage certificate, photos, etc?) Shouldn't this be a given since the i-130 was approved?

    3) Since we are not in the USA, I am unemployed, and my husband has a Hungarian income. Would it be appropriate to include his diploma and/or employment record to show that he has skills and can find a job in the US? Or is this covered in the Visa application? Can I assume all our documents will be reviewed by one entity, or are they so disorganized as they seem that everything should be sent twice or thrice to make sure someone knows we have everything?

    4) Does anyone else think we could start a "Locks of Love" organization with all the hair we've collectively pulled out trying to deal with NVC? ( response not necessary)

    Thank you!
