Hello,
I'm glad for everyone who has made it this far. I've been following this thread since my NOA1 in July 2014! Finally, we got approval from the embassy and are just waiting for them to give the visa to us.
When they fly over to the US, is there a special form to fill out? Or should my fiancee just go to the immigrations line and show them the K1 visa? The immigration officer will then fill out the I-94 form electronically? Or is this something my fiancee needs to fill out and present to them?
The other question I had was what is the proper order of getting a SSN and a marriage certificate? If we get married before filing for SSN, will that cause issues? I know we are supposed to wait about 10 days before filing for SSN so that our I-94 is registered in the system. However, I'd like to get married as soon as possible (before the 10 days). Will it cause any problems? Or do I simply go back and change the name on the SSN card later?
Thank you to everyone!
I can tell you about arriving here....... There will be an envelope that you get from the embassy that shouldn't be opened. You will give that to the officer at the point of entry in US....... They will tell you the rest

Congratulations! Fantastic news! Do you know when you will be traveling to the states?
I don't know yet.

Hey everyone,
I have a question that I am hoping some of you can answer. So I emailed the embassy in Tunis multiple times inquiring about our petition and I also called and spoke with a consular officer...and I guess that expedited our interview. So my fiance's interview is scheduled for next week on Thursday. We never received packet 3. We only received the interview letter and the letter about the medical exam. So my fiance managed to get his medical scheduled for Monday, but he doesn't think he will get his police record in time. He filed for it on April 1 because we thought our interview would be in May...not mid-April. So my question is this: Will they interview my fiance without having his police record or will they reschedule it? I'm planning on calling the embassy on Monday to ask for more information, but I thought I could see if anyone else had a similar situation occur while I'm waiting for Monday to roll around. Thanks for all of your help!
No you can't interview without police report

Received Package 3 today I have emailed the embassy with questions about my passport and what kind of military records they want. Other than that, I think I only have to finish the DS thing, schedule medical and schedule interview. Seve needs to fix the affidavit of support and then we're done.
Almost done. Congrats. Am still waiting for packet 3. We have similar time line so hoping to hear something before Friday

I-134 PDF version wont accept any dots or symbols. My employer's name includes an "&" sign. What's the solution?
Type it out

I know and it's just crazy!! I emailed the Embassy in Ghana, of course, they don't have it in their system yet!! I will email them again next week to try and get the call letter. It takes like a month to never getting it in the mail there. So I will continue to email them until I get my Fiancé call letter!! I hope you hear something soon!!!!
My fiancée called but I will try email today.
Good luck to you

I have to say the Embassy in Ghana is so slow....It takes forever to get the call letter....then 6 to 8 weeks for an interview date. I can't wait for this entire process to be over. The worse part...it is so hard to get a visa there. They turn down so many K-1 it has me under so much stress! I can only pray about it!
Mine too. They are so slow and the people answering the calls are not well informed. Am just waiting to hear from them. The Nvc said ready on March 4. The embassy is sitting on it.

Hello fellow Julyers!
I am very excited to share that my fiance had his interview on Thursday the 12th, and as of today, after a few days of Administrative Processing, our CEAC status changed to "Issued!!!" We are thrilled and can't wait to have the visa in hand. I hope everything goes smoothly for you all for the rest of your journey!
Wonderful congrats

My status changed to In Transit on Friday evening when I checked ... Hoping it gets to the consulate this week.
Please who has idea what this NVC invoice # request that usually prompt up when about to fill form D260? Where can I get such nos?
The same Nvc will give you when u call them
-
I just checked my visa status online, and it has changed to In Transit! However - it also says this: "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center." Is this just standard phrasing, or..?
Yes standard
-
I just called NVC they told me they received my case today but it has not been entered into the system yet. Does anybody knows how long it takes to get a case # because the rep said it can take 4 weeks.
You will get the case number in few days...... Call back sooner
-
I am right there with you...once our case gets to Ghana it takes 6-8 weeks to get an interview. Talking about slow...Like you said we will all get there!
I figured it would go fast to Dublin (Dublin is on my bucket list-hahah. My family is Irish) because there are not a lot of cases that go there! I wish you a speedy interview date.
How do you know the time it takes to get interview? Did the embassy tell you the 6-8 weeks?
-
Hi all,
I called NVC yesterday morning and they confirmed my case was received on Monday since on Feb 24th that USCIS sent it to them so I later called back in the evening and got my case nos.
Please how long do i have to wait before they would send it to Nigeria consulate/embassy?
Keep checking online with the case number they gave you. It shouldn't take long
-
IN TRANSIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohooooo.....3 weeks today!! On it's way to Ghana. So happy!!
Nice
-
Yeah, that's confusing!lol.
This way is a lot easier to wait! like a LOT! hahah
so, on your case is better wait for an interview date before scheduling your medical, right?
Just waiting then
-
Thank you guys for all the help!
And now I am confused... I emailed the embassy to check if I could do my medical now. They said to wait until I got medical and interview instructions from NVC. I thought the embassy would give me those instructions not the NVC...
I'm currently in the US until March 23rd but since we know our papers will be stuck at NVC for a while we figured we can extend my stay until around April 25. But I am worried NVC will start kicking into high gear again now that spring since to arrive and suddenly I'll be here in the states with instructions to do a medical and a date for our interview... But I should be fine to stay until april 25 right? There's no chance I can get a visa interview before that?
I am same situation like u ( about the medical exam). Nvc just told me that the embassy knows what to do and so contact them. The embassy is saying I should wait for Nvc letter...... And can't do medical till I get the letter. But non of them say who gets the letter me/fiancée.
-
Hey guys wish us luck - we should be given an interview date this week. Sure hope we get in before the end of the month but Dublin typically schedules a month out. We are fast approaching 2 months since NOA2... Good luck to everyone waiting to hear NVC has received their case from USCIS OR shipped their case to consulate.
Good luck with the interview. You r very helpful here. Good things happen to good people

My embassy doesn't specify........ I will check. ThanksThis might be different depending on the embassy. The Caracas embassy specifically requests the letter.
"Affidavit of Support, with a job letter stating how long he/she has had his/her job and how much money he/she makes annually (W-2 forms and 1040)."

Is tax return enough for proof of income. ( it mentions tax return on I 130 if self employed)
I am trying to avoid the letter from employer.
