  1. I'm the US citizen. My fiancee currently resides in Philippines. My intentions were to initiate a I-129F, but I was told by an immigration lawyer that it may be denied because of the income requirements. I have always had stable income, but this current year, I decided to pursue further education and took off for a year so that I can get done as soon as possible. I was told by the lawyer that the Embassy in Manila does not allow for joint sponsors when filing with the I-129F. We wanted our wedding to happen in the states, but I'm also considering having the marriage take place in the Philippines. If that happens, I understand that I can petition her using the I-130.

    I heard the I-130 process takes longer than the I-129F process. Any feedback on this?
