  1. This sounds like a witch hunt or the "red scare" to me. People will start claiming that their neighbors are doing fake marriages. That will waste our tax money because the government has to investigate false claims. This does not sound like a good idea.

Say, I were the C.O. you were writing the previous to...

    "JUST FOR EXAMPLE:

    1. You're wasting your time and mine by reporting frauds

    2. I have more cases to handle than you can imagine, for every real case I approve, there will be 10 cases I deny.

    3. How do I know you are REAL and the ones you reported are frauds? Back to square one! Adding more times to my work-day.

    4. You're not a professional, has no credential in law enforcement and criminal investigation. You may be interferencing with the officials and task force, endanger yourself and others if you set out to investigate this type of activity on your own. Please stop!

    5. I will not and can not promise anyone who turns in a fraud case or two to issue visa to his/her fiance. This is the State Department, not bounty hunter, or Bond office. How didn't you know if someone did drop a dime on you with us? So that's why we are investigating your case and cause all the delay right now?

I can go on and on but I need to get back to Mike and Huong's case, or Icarus' case or other's cause They seem to have everything in order...

    C.O. done talking "

Ok, back, chuck and kim :) You get my point? They can't do a trade!

I understand what you're saying ChuckandKim, but I still think it's worth a chance. Here, let me answer you the best I can:

    1. Wasting time? I thought the U.S. government was spending millions of dollars trying to catch fraudulent sham marriages, now you don't even want to know about them or what?

    2. What does that have to do with what I am talking about? Ok, get me to the person who DOES care and let's make a deal.. Why not? But if you don't care why are you working at the consulate anyway? Get someone in there who does please. I'm saying there is a good chance I can give you the reasons necessary to deny case(s) but more than that to make arrests.

    3. Like I say IF I can get you the evidence you need, why not agree to it with a major IF thrown in there. IF I am wrong and can't turn up anything, no expediting for us, but if I am right, expedite the hell out of our case and maybe even a "thank you?" You know I am real because you know who I am and I know who you are too. Send the offer and let's roll. I'll have an attorney look it over and you've got an abundance of them to write it up. Put all the IF statements in there you need. IF I can't help you, it's no loss right? If I can, who knows, maybe you make the biggest bust ever and get promoted - no promises but I would be willing to spend my time trying with the belief that I can make a difference.

    4. Maybe you should hire me (hell, I'm offering to work for free!) then and "train" me but it seems like I can do this easy work without any training whatsoever. It's not rocket science though it would involve some legwork on my part and the fact that I have no law enforcement training makes me all the less suspect. I've got a voice recorder... I am also not worried about the risks involved. Walking at night in HCMC is at least as dangerous and I have lived in neighborhoods most people, including most cops, won't venture in. So what are you worried about? I'm not. If I get myself killed in the process it would be my own fault right? So that's one less visa applicant for you to worry about. I'm not asking for any type of protection or anything either. It makes your job real easy I'd think so why not? If these are the people holding up our case I would be happy to see them stopped (and our case actually processed.) All I am saying is a big IF.. IF I can then___ ? IF I am right _____...? What's the big deal? I almost want to waste my time and do it anyway.

    5. I'm only asking for it IF I can provide the evidence necessary for a conviction, etc. Not asking for open-ended promises here. I have no doubt that someone very well could have tried to say that we are a fraudulent marriage, but if you can find any evidence of that whatsoever, I'd be extremely interested to show you how it's not so. We have nothing to hide, go ahead and investigate us all you need as I have invited you to several times before. Like I say, we have nothing to hide from you and have tried to be as cooperative as possible. Maybe this was a mistake according to the last poster, because we were very prepared but you could also say that is a sign that someone didn't want to experience extremely long delays so they provided everything they possibly could originally.

I just think it's worth a try. Maybe I am wrong but it can't hurt right? If I turn up nothing, no result. But if I am able to.. Why not? Now if I could figure out why vj has disallowed me from posting using my original screen name.. Is vj that sensitive?

  2. I don't think they do that anymore. I think you'll have to file for the EAD first after you get the marriage certificate. I'm still waiting for the documents and biometrics to be done for my fiance. It's been 6 weeks so far. Nothing yet.

There is no authorized to work stamp on the I-94. :(
  3. You guys are too paranoid. The consulate already agreed to the visa. They won't revoke it. But, you should have Anh get all the ownership transfered to someone quickly. It takes a long time for that to be done plus those people will try to rip you off if they know you are in a hurry.

  4. I will be traveling back to Vietnam for my 3rd time. I just wanted to get everyones opinion on this subject. Did you get your shots and anti-malaria pills before going to Vietnam or Thailand? I did the last 2 times, but was wondering if it is necessary? I called the doctors office today and they no longer give these shots and told me to contact the health department. I know it states they are not required but what is your feeling on this?

Nope. I just got some immodium for diarhea.

  5. I booked Eva Air online from Vietnam, we even got upgraded at Tan Son Nhat airport. It was a nice way for my wife to leave Vietnam. We arrived in L.A. the same calender day to see the sunset over Manhatten Beach near LAX airport, her first full day in America............Disneyland!

    Good first impression!

Lucky you. Did you take her whole family to Disneyland or just you and her? My problem is that her family of 5 is here and if I decide to take her out to Disneyland, I'll have to take the whole family. :(

  6. I have some details. Anh doesn't seem to remember things very well. Her short term memory is pretty bad. This was what she gathers and remembers.

She waited to get in at 10 am. (her scheduled appointment time)

When she got in, the workers asked for the papers, rudely, and then told her to go back in line again. Finally when it was her turn she got her ticket number and then waited again. She got her number called and she went to the interview room. When she got in the interview room, a consulate office and a translator was in ther room. They asked her the following questions (she answered some in English and then others were translated:

    1) How did your fiance get to America?

    2) Where did he remain as a refugee?

    3) Where does your fiance work?

    4) Who does the fiance live with?

    5) How did you meet?

    6) How did her parents get to America?

Then he asked to look at some pictures. When he saw the pictures of us in Singapore, he asked where it was and she replied. She then asked if he wanted to see the plane tickets to Singapore and he said ok. He quickly glanced at it and then returned it to her. Then she asked him if he wanted to see the emails, chats, or phone bills but he said no. Finally, he said, "Congradulations, you can pick up your visa on Monday!"

I'm glad this is all done. Now I'm on the next step. At least I have my honey with me on the next adventure.

    CONGRATULATIONS!

This is definitely good news. First Bruce_Han and now you!! So it looks like she got her interview BEFORE the lunch break?

I know we'll all be looking forward to details if you have the time to post them.

    STL_HCMC

Got the pink slip in just 5 minutes!!!! :dancing:

  7. You cannot have possibly meant that. If you net $10,000-$14,000 a year, and you save $900-$1000 a month, you are leaving yourself about $100 a month for rent and food. This only works in Vietnam.

ur absolutely correct. thanks for the correction. this the appropriate figures:

    $1,500 monthly salary, $18,000 yearly

my expense is usually around $500 month.

Dalegg, does your fiance/spouse live in HCM?

Your expenses are $500 per month? In Orange County, California? How do you do this? Do you live alone?

Maybe he is a hermit and lives in a cave and goes out hunting for animals to eat at night?

  8. I would buy her a ring in Vietnam and let her pick it out. I find sometimes that good taste in America is no big deal in VN? (another mind bender?) Mind you, a diamond ring should go over well regardless.

KvTran: funny you say crime: My wife had her necklace ripped off her neck while she was driving down Le Duan Street (same as USA consulate) between the two parks near independence palace/Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St. I couldn't believe it?

Yeah, I gave my fiance a necklace last year. She still has it because she make sure she keeps her hand on it or wear shirts to cover it whenever she drives. They will try at anything to take things. It's ok if they take the necklace but just don't hurt anyone.

  9. By the way, if you want to see the diamond, here it is...

    http://static.zoovy.com/img/everestdiamonds/-/1073n1a

Center stone is 1.07 carat, F color and VS1 clarity. Basically, a very good diamond that is not perfect, but well above average. If it appraises at what it should, then I got myself a bargain that is insane. If not, then I get a full refund (these people have an exceptional rep).

Yes, clearly I have purchased a full bore engagement ring, something I said I could not afford. But I found a way to do it.

Nice!!! How long do you plan to stay in VN? I plan to visit VN at the end of May. Maybe we can meet up. Are you sure you want to give her the diamond ring in VN? I heard there are a lot of people stealing things in Saigon. They do it even in broad daylight. Just make sure she keeps the ring in a safe place after the engagement.
