  1. As I said above, there is nothing that a congressional representative can do with regards to AP. Certainly, if you want a form response like "your case is undergoing necessary security checks" or "the case is currently within normal processing times" then by all means, but that's about it.

Per the response from another member it appears that they can do something about it.

"Whenever I contacted by senator's office, they were more than willing to help me. I had an answer within a couple days each time ( and they were checking on my case every week at the end... they even got our expedite request looked at and approved AND they called the embassy after the approval to make sure they knew it was an expedite ) I should have sent flowers to their office to thank them. Our lawyer was useless. As a matter of fact...the lawyer sent me an email 3 months after my husband came to the US asking me if I had any updates. Ummm. I was so angry ...I never responded. I think its the lawyers job to know these things and inform the client. My lawyer was a waste of Money..."

  2. Not where I live. They are as worthless as tits on a Bull. Senator, Congressmen all responded via mail after I requested help then just laid down and did nothing. When I try to follow up the Senators office Aide assigned to me just says he is waiting for response. I will vote Democrat next time. I have been waiting since December. My paperwork went to TSC the other 2 centers are processing within 3-4 weeks I have been waiting over 7 months. This system is totally broken and unfair. I wish I could sue them.

  3. I have been waiting since end of December this is brutal my phone bills are astronomical but thanks to Skype we see each other every day. I was flying down to see her every 6 weeks but had to stop cause I couldn't keep doing that for 6 more months. Looks like it would be a lot quicker to re-apply and have it go through CSC now. Based on current timelines mine should be processed in early August. AARRGHH!!!

  4. Unless you have some immigration issues, I believe you could do it without an attorney. Read up, do your research, and pay attention to detail. It worked for us! You can do it! Here's a link in case you haven't already seen it.

Thanks! No issues both of us have clean histories and no kids. They only issue is they don't go out of their way to help Haitians all that much in the D.R. - the locals work in the US Embassy and no Haitians work there either so they are not inclined to get things done for you.

  5. I have a fiancee who is Haitian but has lived temporarily in Dominican Republic for the last 4 years. I am about to fill out and submit the K-1 visa. Is it worth paying an Attorney to get it correct and follow the process or should I just do it myself and save the money? Also, is it better for her to us the US Embassy in Santo Domingo D.R. or would it be best for her to go back and us the US Embassy in Haiti?
