By the way don't you have a better country there in South Africa than America? USA is getting kind of weird you could probably have a better life where you are. I wouldn't mind moving there from the US.

Best advice... Talk to an immigration specialist attorney from your country. There are always various possibilities but each case is unique. The people on this site are trying to be helpful but don't rely on it. My opinion based on experience.

I would just keep calling the USCIS. Ask for a supervisor, because the customer service people admittedly don't know anything. Then keep asking polite questions until you get an answer. Stay calm and polite, but don't hang up. They will not hang up on you. Just take your time and keep talking it through. Stay polite no matter what. Remember, all their business is a life and death crises, so you are not the first one to blow a gasket.
Maybe try calling again later in the day or the next day, because they can look this up. If you are correct, find out the source or proof of your correction from your research, (what is it?) and present it to the USCIS, either by phone or in person. You can always make an appointment to go in there. But remember you have to keep standing there and talking because they are good at hinting you need to leave now. If there are no open slots in the future, you can re-look up the schedule each morning and grab someone else's cancellation.
Sometimes one problem can cascade to another. Actually, to avoid a can of worms, I would spend $100 on an immigration attorney. They usually have offices in the same building as the USCIS and take walk in business. To save money, email your concise problem description to a few immigration attorneys. One of them might tell you the answer for free.
Stay Calm but keep moving

Get an immigration attorney with experience. He can answer your question in 3 minutes. Just try to explain it in a more concise manner so he can understand what the problem is. It's kind of foggy. We used 3 different attorneys for 50 - 300 bucks a pop and it was well worth it each time. An immigration attorney will know the answer right off the top and you may only need him for 1/2 hour. And, he can fix any other problems you see coming down the road. Don't stress - fix it.

How long does it usually take to get the card? We sent the AOS in April 15, 2015. By the way, is it typical for the U.S. hubby to do a lot of the job searching and calling, etc. I don't want to be pushy, but she doesn't have job hunting experience, and I have a lot of experience and skills in that dept. Might she secretly be resenting that? Or is she secretly relieved I am helping in this way? (She is a fantastic person in every way)

Is there any problem with my new wife (K-1) immigrant just applying for jobs before receiving the EAD Card?, as long as she does not accept a job before having the card? Also, she would disclose to the employer on the application that she is waiting for the Employment Authorization Card and cannot work until it is received.
Of course some employers won't consider you until you have the actual card... my question, though is, can she fill out an application with the above disclosure?
The card should come any day, but you know how it is...
Thanks, if you have an idea!

Visa delivered to fiance's home yesterday, Tuesday, Mar 17, 2015. 8 days since the interview in Manila. Good thing we didn't wait for packet 3 or the mysterious EM letter that never came. The last thing now is the CFO seminar, which we completely overlooked, and that delayed all the cascading plans. (could have done the seminar ahead of time) Flight to USA Wed night, I hope, unless there is another hidden road bump. All in all we're happy with the process, but I would recommend using the VISA company that has an office right across the street from the US Embassy. You can still monitor and control anything. I have invested hundreds of hours in the last 4.5 month just gathering the facts so I could be a complete do-it-yourself-er.

Is the 4 hour CFO seminar required before departure from Manila on a K1 Visa? Is that yet another big delay???

My K-1 fiance just had her interview yesterday March 9, 2015, in Manila. Powerful experience.
Final question was "Are you sure that your American fiance is going to marry you?"
"Yes."
"OK, you are approved."
She was very happy and cried with joy all the way home.
So I am here in the US ready to schedule a flight, but they told her they would deliver the Passport and Visa in about a week.
Is it really only a week???

Sorry, what is the correct thread, and how can I search for a thread topic?

How long to get Visa???
My fiance has her K1 fiance visa interview at the Manila Embassy March 9, 2015, this Monday at 7:30 am. Assuming it goes well, as she has all the documents we believe are needed, when will they give her the actual Visa? Same day? 1,2,3 days? Has anyone heard how long that is taking at this time? She will be flying to USA as soon as the visa is obtained. Would like to book a flight ticket.

I received our case number from the nvc over the telephone about 2 weeks ago. Ever since then they've been so busy apparently, that no one answers the phone. So I did not receive the letter but I have the case number, but I asked embassy if we could proceed, and the embassy said you must have the letter otherwise they will not conduct an interview. So in your case, do you think they just forgot about the letter, or do they really not care about the letter, and why is there this discrepancy? My fiance in Manila is so worried about breaking the rule she is scared to death to schedule an interview without the letter. she is just very sweet and very honest conscientious.
-
Hi,
Thanks for your information, but every time she or I call the US Manila Embassy, they tell us that she has could schedule the interview, but that they will not actually conduct the interview without the letter of invitation to interview.
I called the US MNL Embassy myself to verify, and they are very adamant about waiting for the letter.
How is it that you can schedule the interview with them saying that you will not get an interview unless you have "The Letter."
Thanks in advance!!

Clarification: Is the "Case Number" (MNL2015xxxyyy) that was given to me from the NVC the same number that you are referring to as the "MNL#" ? Because the case number was given from the NVC and they said to wait for instructions, etc. My fiance is worried about breaking the rules. How does she go about the next few steps? (I will read your flashing arrow link)
Thanks!!

I called the NVC on Jan 19, 2015 and they gave me the 3 magic numbers. Case number, Invoice ID, Beneficiary ID. Do we just wait for further notice? Can we start application and set appoints in Manila for our K1 visa application? Will they contact her in Ph, or will they contact me in the US with further instructions? Thanks. I hope we are close!

My fiance's interview will be in Feb 2105. Since I won't have my 2014 taxes done by then, for the I-135 form, can I give her (them) my bank statements for 2014 and an explanation of income, or is it very necessary to have the tax return?
-
Thanks much for your answer and patience. I believe you hit the nail on the head. I will go with that.
One more question. I asked this earlier. Is it really true that I can attend my fiance's US Embassy interview with her in Manila?
That might give me an opportunity to answer income questions, if any. But I guess the best strategy is to be quiet and say nothing unless absolutely needed?
-
My financial situation is legitimate and good but not on paper.
I was self-employed in 2013 and 2014 with low income because I lived on saved funds. I had a sad but amicable divorce during that time. So I look weak on paper with too low of self employed income in 2013 and 2014.
I just started (Jan 5, 2015) a normal, w2 pay stub income with an airline. High security, background check, etc. It is a permanent job. So, if they can understand how I switched from self employment to becoming a pay stub employee, then I should be OK. But I am worried they might say I have only been in my new pay stub job for 2 months. Really, it should not matter how long I have this job, but some people think differently.
So I thought a strong joint sponsor, my sister, might help the interviewer give the thumbs up. I also have a great resume, history, references and all that, but I guess that doesn't count in this case. You think?
Is my new job with adequate income going to be sufficient?
-
OK, so a joint sponsor is not favorable. Can anything be done to make it more favorable? Is it a policy, or just a trend? Does the overall financial strength of the JS make a difference? Thanks again for your patience!

Can I, as the petitioner, attend the embassy interview with my k1 fiance in Manila? Or do I have to wait outside? The case numbers were assigned Jan 14. When will the interview be? Do they notify the fiance by phone, email, courier? Thanks much. My attorney would charge $60 to answer these questions, so I appreciate your help if you know the answer from actual experience. Thanks!

The joint sponsor would be my sister. So can my Philippino k1 fiance just bring along my sisters I-134 form as a joint sponsor and hand it to the interviewer, without prior notification? Is that how it works?

Hi!
Where can my wife get training to pass the EILTS. Did not quite pass the first time. Would possibly like to hire a tutor. (TOEFL is ok too). Would pay well for someone who knows how. 612-483-6689 tigersmn@gmail.com. She has BSN.
