  1. I am also very interested to find out what happened. Your timeline says you were issued a 221g stating administrative processing. Now, your congressman's office says that it has been sent to anti-fraud unit? Have you contacted the State Department to find out what is listed in the DOS computer system?

Morocco4ever is right, you have much to do...but the first step is finding out what is going on. Please respond as to what the 221g actually says and we can at least point you in the right direction to get some answers and a plan of what steps you need to take.

There are many of us in the exact same boat as you, and we have information which can help you move in the right direction. Hang in there...stay strong, and know you are not alone.

Feel free to PM either me or Morocco4ever.

221g says "administrative processing" and DOS computer system says the same thing. The congress woman gave me the info that this case has been sent to anti fraud unit and they will be contacting the beneficiary after they get the report from anti fraud unit. The interviewer was not satisfied with my fiance's answers.

  2. What do they do in Administrative Processing by the way..

Never heard of that before in details

administrative processing is the finger prints taken and then sent it to US for verification and then they do something called "security clearance" in U.S after that it is sent back to the consulate.

  3. That is insane... which consulate did you go through? I am supposed to go to the Delhi Consulate on the 7th and am wondering what the heck lies ahead. Good luck to you... hope it all sorts itself out. (F)

my fiance went through the chennai embassy and that consulate asked alot of questions to him. The people around interviewer told him that the red dupatta (veil) i was wearing its 'cuz of wedding. To hell with them! red dupatta i was wearing 'cuz i wanted to wear it, 'cuz i like it. i didn't know this would cause me this much trouble. I am very upset. :crying:

  4. No, the case didnot go back to US. Actually! the person who interviewed my fiance thinks by looking at our engagement pics that its a wedding and not an engagement. He asked my fiance again and again if its a wedding. my fiance said no its an engagement.

Later he gave my fiance a blue sheet, checked "this case needs administrative processing according to section 221g".

I called washington and came to know that the administrative processing has been done on april 10th and the case still pending and the consulate has not made the decision yet. :crying:

Later i contacted the congress women on may 6 and she got a reply from the embassy that this case has been sent to the anti fraud unit and they will contact my fiance after they receive documents from the anti fraud unit. I spoke to an immigration attorney and he told me that nothing to worry it takes about 30 days for the enquiry.

Thanks for your advises folks. :help:

  8. Hello Everyone!

My sister's husband's case was on Administrative Processing in India,Chennai. They gave him a time frame of about 12 weeks. Now when I enquired, the Consulate is asking him to appear at the consulate office with the passport. What do you think? Is it going to be a good news? 'cuz usually they mail the visa. They called him to the embassy. I am worried. Anybody has any experience please share. Thanks.

  12. Hello,

It sounds like your fiance has gotten what is called AR or AP and you cannot do anything at this time. They are doing back ground checks and until they are finished they cannot issue a visa. Time can be anywhere from days, weeks, or months. Just try and be patient and contact the embassy in one month if you have not heard from them before that time. Good luck.

    Mary

I agree with Mary... be patient... you will have news soon...

    wishing you the best!

    blessings,

    Lynne

    Thanks! Mary and Lynne

  13. Hello! Everyone,

My Fiance got this blue sheet after the interview, in which it checks,

"Section 221G, which prohibits of a visa to anyone whose application doesnot comply wiht the provision of the immigration and nationality racot of regulations issued pursuant there to the following remarks apply in you case: Further Administrative processing".

They told him, all the papers are ok. And

They asked him it will take about 4-6 weeks. What shall i do? should i keep emailing the consulate and enquire about the case. Or consult a lawyer? It has been one week now. Its hard to wait. :crying:

  14. Just wanted everyone to know that after being temporarily denied my visa, the prolonged process has been cleared by the FBI. I had not one, not two, not three, but FIVE misdemeanor offences while I was attending University. Oh the good times!:P Definitely not proud of them though! :P Anyways, we called yesterday and the consulate said they received the fingerprints back from the FBI and everything was good to go and the visa is in the mail and will be here sometime today! Thanks for everyones help throughout this process. Good luck to those still in the process.

Hello! Mim219s, Please let me know how long did it take from the date of interview to visa? I am in the same situation. Waiting for the administrative process to be done and get the visa for my fiance. Thanks.

  15. Thanks to all the folks who asnwered my questions (sometimes stupid).

My financee went for interview in mumbai yesterday. They did ask her how we met and more questions about my family etc. It was very peaceful and didn't have any problems.

The longest time she spent was. on waiting, once that was over, it hardly took 10 minutes!

    Cheers!

Don't worry i will ask more questions at AOS time :D

    sl

CONGRATULATIONS! to you and your fiancee. Just wondering how much did she had to pay for the visa? i mean the last DD? please let me know. Thanks.

  16. Was everything else in order?

Hopefully they will clear this up quickly! Good luck

Yes! Everything was in order. But people do engagements in halls like grand function. I don't know why he said so. And also he asked. Why are you stand so close in the pictures? my fiance said, "why can't we stand taht close if we are engaged?

    Hello everyone!

My Fiance went to the interview on march 2nd. Even before the Consulate started interviewing him, he got a blue sheet in his hand and then he started questioning him.

Consulate: From the pics it doesn't look like its an Engagement. It is a big hall. This should be a wedding.

    Fiance: No its an engagement.

Consulate: How many people were there? You swear that this is an engagement?

    Fiance: Yes i swear.

consulate: Ok, I have to put you on enquiry. Go pay the DD

He gave my Fiance the blue sheet and one of the officials told him that he should give the fingerprints, all the papers are ok. "You don't have to come back to the Consulate, if everything is fine we will call you, you send us the passport we will send you the visa. We will send the fingerprints to FBI. It will take about 4 to 6 weeks."

I'm very upset right now :( Please advise. What shall I do? Should i wait or consult a lawyer?

Even before I was done reading through your whole post, it sounded like India to me. He probably got the blue sheet because there was a name hit and the consular knew right at the beginning of the interview that your fiance was going to have to submit fingerprints. My husband (new delhi) also gave fingerprints (although he was told it would take 15-20 days, HA!). It has been almost six weeks and we are hoping to hear something soon.

I know it is depressing (trust me! I was so mentally prepared for him to be here with my by now), but unfortunately you are just going to have to wait it out. Calilng the Embassy or NVC won't help (I have tried!). The good news is that all your paperwork is in order and he will most lieky get the visa once the prints clear. The bad news is the wait....

There is a great link on "security administation processing" that you can search for on this site and read.

Does your fiance have a common Indian name?

    Good Luck!

Yes! it is India, Chennai. My fiance name is Omar. Well! now he is upset. He is asking me to come back to india, so that we will get married over there and reapply for spouse. He does not want to wait. Actually he works in Dubai. Now he can't even go back to his work 'cuz they said it will take 4 to 6 weeks. I am really confused.
