I received my Employment Authorization card about three weeks ago and started applying for jobs. I have had an interview and got the job, but they are requesting I have a social so they can do a background check.
Don't I need my green card to apply for my social?
And can my immigration police check count as a background check?

Did u receive two passport pages! My fiancé received two.....one said cancelled dated 12/22 and the other did not have any marks and it was dated 12/23....
No I did not. Only one sticker in my passport.
I have no idea what that could mean.
I'm just getting ready for flight to the US today.. Good luck.
-
Wow that was super fast!!! Our visa was issued on the 23rd so hopefully it will be delivered next week as well! Did you opt for the home delivery??
I know I can't believe it!
Yeah I opted for home delivery, should be at my door on Monday.
-
Congrats!!! So happy for you!!!
Since we turned in our forms a day after you hopefully ours will say issued tomorrow!
I got my tracking information yesterday.
I should have my visa on Monday.
Hopefully fly out on Tuesday and have NYE with my SO.
I hope all went well for you.
Merry Christmas.
-
Cool mine went from nonimmigrant ready to AP this morning!!!! Hope on Monday it goes to issued!!!
Mine has just changed to issued.
I couldn't be happier!
Keep checking, I'm sure yours will change soon too.
Good luck.
-
I have heard other people say AP is the step right before it is issued but after what happened I read every word.....I hope that is just standard legal talk to cover themselves in case something goes wrong but I will not rest until it says ISSUED!!
Yes that's exactly my thought process.
we'll see what happens today. I will keep this post updated.
-
Now ours changed to Administrative Processing too! Very excited but the wording scares me lol....did u read yours closely? Visa is going through necessary processing.....if it is approved u will have it in mail....is there still a chance it could be denied?
Oh yes I read it carefully, that's why I was wondering why everyone was congratulating us when we haven't actually been approved yet.
Hopefully it will be updated later on today so we can actually have a official answer.
-
So happy for you!!! Just hope it goes that fast for us tomorrow!!
Thank you so much, you too!
My status has been updated again to administrative processing so hoping this is another good sign!
-
No it changes from Nonimmigrant to Admin Processing then Issued.
Oh I did not know, thank you so much!
-
Right, which means this afternoon it had changed to approved.
Then it update again to nonimmigrant.
No big deal.... just giving you a hard time. :/
Best of luck with POE.
Doesn't it state on your timeline that it changes to nonimmigrant before it changes to approved?
Oh I know you're just teasing
Just making sure everything is right before I start getting too excited, the last few days have been stressful!
-
That measn that you don't check CEAC often enough. You completely missed the update of Approved!. LOL - only teasing.
Yes, that's good news.
You can see my timeline for an estimate of how long it'll take for your passport in hand.
I have been checking almost all day!
This morning it still said immigrant visa and that I was waiting for my interview.
Yesterday, after my interview, it said I was waiting for further administrative checks or something along those lines.
-
Yes it is good news! It means it is going through! It should be issued within a couple of days.....congrats!
Oh wow!
Damn!
I really hope you're right! Thank you!

U.S. Department of State
NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
ReadyIs this good news!?
I did not notice!
-
Does it state at the top it's a NON IMMIGRANT?
If it does you can see my timeline below for approximation of CEAC updates.
U.S. Department of StateNONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

Case Creation Date: 18-Dec-2014 Status Updated Date: 18-Dec-2014Your case is open and ready for your interview, fingerprints, and required documents. If you have already had your interview, please check your status after two business days. If no interview was required, please check back in two business days for the status of your application. So my case has been updated again today, I assume that they have everything they need from me and I'll receive my answer in the business two days stated.

No clue. Do you think I will win the lottery today?
There is nothing more you can do at this point, so give your brain a rest, quit checking, and go do something fun.
Or start working on the Adjustment of Status forms so you won't have to spend your time after getting to the US thinking about more forms and learning the next process. At least you will doing something productive.
Have a look at my AOS list--
You're right. Thank you.
Well I hope you win the lottery
I'll take a look and speak to my fiancé about getting those done soon.
-
Ready is the common generic status which it says most of the time. It does not mean you need an interview. When it says Issued, then you can exhale and start waiting on the email about the courier and delivery.
OK thank you, you have been a great help to my nerves!
Do you think I'll get another update today?
-
Yes I just said that the embassy have requested I get full details of my no live trace. They explained that they would not send them an email and could only give it to me verbally.
They knew what I needed so I assume they are getting many calls about this.
Don't worry, I'm sure we will all be fine
Just checked my CEAC status.
It was updated today 18-dec-2014
Staus is now 'Ready'
As in I'm ready for my interview, which I've already had.
Can anyone shine light on this?
-
That is encouraging news! I just hope and pray there isn't more info we need to collect! i was doing well earlier yesterday but now I am so stressed and worried! What did you say when you called ACRO? Did u say u just needed info about the specifics in ur police report? I just want to make sure he asks the right question to get the right info

I would keep checking the CEAC for updates.....I believe it changes each time a step occurs....and when anyone looks at your file the update will show a new date....hopefully soon it will reflect the normal administrative processing timelines! My fiancé is calling ACRO today to get his info! How is tor fiancé handling everything?
Yeah I checked it this morning and it had been updated yesterday to 'further administrative action' it says it may take a few weeks, hopefully not as the interviewer said this afternoon.
She's taking it better than me, I'm stressing out like crazy thinking the worst.
She just keeps talking me to down to earth so hopefully we get a yes before I go crazy!
It's only a two minute conversation on the phone, just tell him to have a pen and paper ready as they can only give him the information verbally.
Good luck
-
I think it is virtually impossible to reach anyone there unless there is a direct line to the fraud dept! Keep checking your status on the CEAC site because it will change as they begin processing!
It's not the fraud department I need to speak to.
I asked them via email yesterday what would happen next and they said they couldn't say, but just follow whatever my interviewer had said.
-
Do you think I could call the embassy and ask for updates?
-
Would u mind sharing what the email from fraud dept said after u responded with info the info from ACRO?
The email just said that they had received my email with the details. Nothing interesting.
-
Great!! I really hope this is all they need!! I read stories from 2013 where people waited 30-40 days for a subject access report!
Well we may well need SARs yet but they haven't requested one so i think we'll be OK.
Maybe they have changed it for cases which we're almost a clear yes.
Who knows, only time will tell. the Information i sent was the same as what is on a SAR they are just trusting me to tell the truth.
Let me know if anything happens, good luck!
I have my EAC, no social and no green card. Can I work?
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

So if I go to the social security office today, I can apply straight away?
And how long does it take to receive the social security number?
I was convinced I has to wait for my green card, I can't believe it :/
