Hello folks, I wanted some help/input from those of you that may have some expertise or knowledge about this topic. I made friends with someone whose husband recently got their spousal visa approved and will be heading this way from Yemen. He will be traveling in the coming weeks and plans on bringing her mother to accompany. Here's where the difficulty is: Her mother has a 10-year green card, but returned to Yemen a year after her green card was issued in 2011 and hasn't been back to the USA since 2012. Will her mother be able to be granted re-entry? I've been searching the web and haven't been able to find a clear answer besides extensive questioning. The mother never filed any paperwork prior to departure. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.

Hi everyone, appreciate all the replies to this original post. Just a little update: The mother arrived a few days ago, and granted entry. There was a moment where she was pulled aside and questioned, but other than that no other issues. Her green card does expire next year, I'm going to guess it won't be approved for renewal. We will see when the time comes.

So basically, about three and a half months for NVC process and interview. They scanned my documents on Dec, 30 2016. I was told 6 weeks  to complete then depends on Djibouti embassy to schedule appointment. Since it is about 3.5 months, I should expect the interview in the middle of April, right?

MAA77, Yes that should be your expected timeline, and hopefully will be if not sooner.  Wishing you all the best!

Tink88, How long the time between the package completed and the interview date? Also, was your husband able to go to Djibouti without the interview letter?

    Thank you

Hi MAA77, It was about a week after package completed at NVC before receiving an interview date in Djibouti for 2 months later. My husband had his interview letter with him when he entered Djibouti.

  5. Hi Ruby12345, you can contact USCIS at 1800-375-5283 and request an expedite if your situation falls into the expedite criteria. Sometimes they ask for evidence after you submit your request. Unfortunately it doesn't mean that they will approve the request. I applied for my husband at the end of January. I requested an expedite 3 times, twice in March and once in April. Both times denied due to lack of evidence, and the third denied after I submitted evidence. I was told my case was next in line to be reviewed. It was approved at the beginning of June. Now he is Djibouti, his interview is in a few weeks. I recommend trying for an expedite, it wouldn't hurt. Be sure to ask where you can submit the evidence. The only advice I can give you is to be patient. It can be a tedious process, the waiting game. The good news is, the embassy is processing cases from Yemen quicker.

    Best of luck to you.

  6. Hi Yashuel12, I mailed in all my documents to NVC. It took them a little over 6 weeks to review. As of this past week it has completed and they will be scheduling an appointment for my husband in Djibouti, so I am just eagerly waiting on that. Not sure how long to wait for the appointment, but I'm hoping its soon.

    Hello tank88,

My case was completed one week before yours in the nvc. It took it almost three months after i send everything they told me over the phone to scan it and send it electronically over the phone because my case in the beginning started with saa and the the guy told me don't believe them it's going to slow you down mail it to them better and I didn't believe him and found out he was right. What about you how did u send them by mail or scanned them?!

  7. Hi Rain0105, have you considered going to Jordan? I was previously engaged and had done the K-1 Fiance visa, but the war broke out right as my case arrived in Yemen for interview in Feb 2015. I was advised by the consulate to just get married in another country and apply as a spouse with I-130 as it would be easier and shorter wait in the long run. My husband and I met up in Jordan in Nov 2015 and got married there. We stayed for 3 months and I came back to the U.S to apply. Now our case is processing at NVC. I don't believe obtaining a 3 month visitor visa for Jordan is very hard, but I would look into it. If not, look into other countries in the region. Egypt maybe? I know the UAE is difficult for Yemeni citizens. best of luck!

  8. Hello everyone, I just received my packet from NVC and have been gathering all my documents and such to send it in asap as to keep things moving quickly on my case. I had a question/concern. On my letter from NVC it stated that "we will schedule your relative's case for a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in SANAA, YEMEN." Also, the case was given a Sanaa case number. When I checked the US Embassy's site the last update in June stated that they were scheduling appointments for Djibouti. Does anyone know if they will be opening the Embassy Sanaa up for interviews or consular services? Or will they transfer it? Thanks for any help in advance!

  9. takes about a month after approval for case to get to NVC and get case# than paying fees once you send your documents its 30 to 45 days to case complete.

Waiting for interview Egypt is 4 to 5 months. Algeria is about 2 months wait.

Here is the NVC Process wiki to read and know all you need to know. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

Also once at NVC you can request expedite who knows you may get it approved.

Hi dhwheels76, thanks for the information. Just a little update, petition was approved on 6/9/16 and sent to NVC. I'm just waiting for a confirmation from them that it has been received and go from there. I was recently reviewing the US Embassy Yemen's website, and it stated that all IV interviews are now being forwarded to Djibouti. Would you happen to know the wait time for interviews there? Thanks for any help in advance :)

  10. Hello all, I was just wanting some input on a couple things. Just some background real quick, I filed an I-130 petition for spouse back in January. I tried to expedite my petition due to the fact that my husband is currently residing in Yemen where there is an ongoing war. I provided evidence, and in the response letter, USCIS just stated that my case was next in line to be reviewed by an officer. I'm hoping it will get approved soon. I had a few questions, any input would be greatly appreciated.

    1. About how long does it take for NVC to process approved petitions?

    2. How long before the approved petition goes from NVC to designated Embassy.

I'm assuming for Yemen it may take longer since there are 2 designated posts (Egypt and Algeria) since the Embassy in Yemen has been shut down. I'm just looking for a timeframe to follow. Also, for Yemeni petitioners out there that read this, where has your case gone? And how long has it taken to process?

    Thanks!

  11. Okay re-look at your I-130 Petition. Question 22 is where you write your embassy of interview. What did you put. Morocco is support fast but I am not sure which embassy Yemini folks can pick.

    from the embassy website

"U.S. Embassy Cairo and U.S. Embassy Algiers are the designated immigrant visa (IV) processing posts for Yemeni IV cases as these posts are equipped to accommodate the extra workload and are most easily reached by persons departing from Yemen."

Oh dang, I'm looking over the copies I made of the I-130 application, and I overlooked question 22 and left it blank! :( I'm doomed aren't I?

  12. So what embassy did you select Jordon, Egypt, Algeria? No US Embassy in Yemen. As far as expedite. You would have to expedite at USCIS than when you move on to NVC request another expedite and that gets sent to the embassy for them to approve.

The issue I see is you have shown that he can leave Yemen (many people asking for expedite under humanitarian reasons can not). You marrying in Jordon they may just say move there .

You can always try many people daily request expedites. Have your evidence together call USCIS they will tell you what is needed.

Also when you sent in your I-130 did you write a brief cover letter to officially withdraw your petition? It would be expired by now but it just a good way to show you are ending one to start another. But no issues.

Hi dwheels76, I have not selected an Embassy yet, I am still in USCIS processing and I am trying to expedite with them first. We went to Jordan to get married as that was one of the few places that Yemeni people can easily obtain a short term visa. He had to leave because his 3 month visa was about to expire. Also, its a little more difficult to apply for residency in Jordan for Yemeni citizens as so many are entering short-term and then staying illegally.

I did include a cover letter with my I-130 application and let them know that we had applied prior, but that petition approval expired December of 2014. I was just concerned because when I check my previous case status on travel.gov it says K-1 case is ready to interview, but I had never received anything about an interview. I only knew that my case had arrived in Yemen because I was emailing the Embassy in Yemen and they had informed me of that. But less than a month later they had closed.

  13. Hello all, I had a question in regards to my pending petition.

I filed an I-130 petition on Jan. 29th for my husband. Received a receipt notice on Feb 7th, with a priority date of Jan 29th. I am trying to have the case expedited, due to the fact that my husband is currently back in Yemen where there is an ongoing conflict and extremely troublesome. My question is in regards to:

2 years ago while my husband and I were engaged, we had filed an I-129F petition for Fiancé. It was approved all that was left was to interview, unfortunately the Embassy in Yemen had closed consular services due to the outbreak of conflict. We never heard anything since, so we decided to just meet up in Jordan and get married, and file for the IR1/CR1 later instead. I am just concerned that we might run into a delay due to the fact that we filed for a K-1 prior. I did state in the application for the I-130 I did state that we filed previously...should I be concerned? Also, has anyone had any luck with the expedite process?
