My wife just recieved her EAD work permit card. We will go to Social Security Administration office to apply for her SS card next week and I was wondering if they give you the SS# right there, or whther you have to wait for it in the mail?
Thanks!

USCIS website says my wife's employment authorization application was approved and a notice sent out today. Does the notice come with a card or something that she can show to a future employer, or do we have to wait further for that? That is, when could she start work? Thanks!
"Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On July 31, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this
I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow any
instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice,
call customer service."

Podria llamar el numero de telefono que esta en las cartas que recibio y preguntar. Casi estoy seguro que hablen espanol.
Imagino que ya sabes pero hay que incluir las letras "MSC" cuando teclas el numero.

My wife and daughter received their biometrics appointment for this 6/21 and I was surprised it was on a Saturday. Anybody else had a Sat. appointments?

Will be sending AOS for wife and daughter and plan on sending 1 check of 1010 for my wife's I-485 and another check of $600 for my daughter's.
Does you think it matters whether I send two checks or one check for 1610?
Thanks!
-
Thanks. Did you send seperate checks for I-485 or one check (1610) for both applications?
-
"Total is $2685." - that's what I originally sent, but had one check for both I-485 apps (1690). I had included a detailed cover letter, too.
"I 485 for daughter including biometrics $680"
The operator told me only 600 for my daughter. Apparrently, biometrics is not charged for kids, and it should be one check for 1610. for the 2 applicants. But I will call again to verify the 600 amount and try to make an infopass.

So I either send 1,610 as USCIS operator said, or 2,020 like the notice says. I'm leaning towards 1610
Anybody know how long it takes to get an InfoPass apt.?
-
Just got off the phone with USCIS and it looks like we should have paid 1,610 instead of 1,690 for the 2 I-485 apps, but operator was not sure why the notice is asking for 1010 for each app.

After having sent AOS package for wife and step-daughter over 1 1/2 mo ago, they sent everything back to me with reject notices for incorrect check amounts.
It looks like they made a mistake and thought my step-daughter should pay full for I-485 when in fact she is filing with mother and should pay less(according to I-485 instructions).
I recieved the following reject notices:
I-485 for wife - says to pay $930 + $80
I-485 for step-daughter- says to pay $930 + $80
I-824(for lost I-130 NOA2) - says to pay 340
I-130(for daughter) - says to pay 355
I-765(employement) - says to pay 340 unless filing with I-485
I-131 (travel) - pay 305 unless filing with I-485
I-131 (travel) - pay 305 unless filing with I-485
I had originally sent 3 checks: 355, 340, and 1,690 (for the two I-485 apps). According to the notices it looks like they want me to send 4 checks: 355, 340, 1010, and 1010.
I am not sure though. I don't care if they charge me too much I just don't want to wait another 2 mo only to have everything sent back again.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sent in wife's AOS package to chicago 3/29, it was signed by CHYBA on 3/31, but the checks have not been cashed and have not recieved NOA. I wouldn't mind waiting if they would just aknowledge they recieved the package and are are working on it.
Would I be able to get any info by calling?

I sent AOS package via FedEx on March 29 to the designated address in Chicago for private carriers. They recieved it March 31, but still have not cashed the checks or provided any feedback. Looking at other timelines it seems they should have cashed the check or done something by now. I wonder if they are still accepting FedEx or have changed the policy.

I sent AOS package via FEDEX to the Chicago address designated for private carriers on March 29. They signed for the package on March 31, but they still have not cashed the check or provided any feedback to me. Looking at other timelines it seems they should have already cashed the check or done something by now.

I think I'll be filing for an extension in that case. My wife should have a SS# within a couple months.

I need to file my wife and step-daughter as dependants on my taxes. They were with me the whole year, but don't have SS# ? Can I include them as dependants without SS#?

Its been a couple weeks since my AOS app was recieved via FedEx and they still haven't cashed the checks. Looking at others time lines it seems they should have cashed the checks by now and sent out NOA. Would it be helpful for me to call them and inquire about the status or should I wait longer? Thanks.

I am about to send off AOS applications for wife and step-daughter and would like to verify the fees.
I am sending 2 checks: one for the two I-485 applications and one for my step daughter's I-130
Check 1 - $2,640
I-485 + Biometrics for mother: 1010
I-485 + Bio for step-daughter: 680
I-131 (2 for travel): 610
I-175 Employment Auth 340
I-824 (because we lost NOA2) 340
Check 2 - I-130 for step-daughter: 355
I think that it, but I am not sure if payment for I-175 is needed if filing along with I-485. Also, not sure if seperate checks are needed
for I-824,I-131?
Thanks for your comments!

Thanks. Did not realize I-130 would require a separate check.

I will be sending in AOS for my wife and step-daughter together. Should I write one check for both of them or a seperate check for each. Thanks!

If you plan on leaving the country for more than one year, then apply for a re-entry permit *before* you leave the US. You must maintain residency in the US to keep your green card. If you travel to the US at least once a year you may be able to keep the green card, but if you are not planning to return for several years you will lose it. When entering the US on a green card, US immigration specifically asks how long you were out of the country, and may not let you in if its more than a year. Citizenship is based on how long you were physically in the US. You must list all time you spent outside the country on the application.

I noticed some people seem to have recieved thier green cards in the mail without an AOS interview and was wondering if K-3/4 holders require the AOS interview ? Also, has the normal time period of the AOS process been delayed due to the influx of applications? Thanks.

Can my wife go to school without the GC and only Noa1 and aos and passport?
Yes she can. The visa on her passport and I-94 entry white paper should be enough. My wife is currently going to school w/o gc.

If I remember correctly, we got the K3 and K4 via I-29F. The I-130 was filed for my wife, but we never followed through since she got K3 faster using I-29f. And we never filed an I-130 for my step daughter. She also came to the US on K-4. We will be filing I-130 for her along with the AOS because its required for some reason even though she is already in the US.
Interview Question
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

Interview for step-daughter and wife is coming up. I have all but a couple items of the list of docs we are supposed to bring. We have lost one of the I-94 cards they recieved when entering the US but have copies of it. Also, It asks for the US citizens birth cert. and proof of US citizenship. I have my US passport but not the birth cert.
Does anyone think not having the original I-94 or my birth cert will be a problem at the interview?
