  1. Hi, i also used called 6:59 their time several times.... one day, i didn't go to work and was able to stay on hold for 50 minutes and finally was able to talk to a person.

Don't get frustrated yet, NVC is the place where visas get stuck for no reason and it is very normal. Their office is ridiculously understaffed - don't have time to answer emails.

Wishing you luck! Once your applications leaves NVC things get super fast and next thing you know you are at the embassy interview and then with your loved one in the states!

  2. Hello all,

Received my EAD card today. Thank goodness! :)

Went to SSN office also, they aren't able to put through my application at the moment as its too soon and not updated on the system. They didn't even process the application or give me a receipt, he took my details and then told me to come back in 2 weeks and they will be able to apply then. Is this a commen reoccurring thing? I notice some of you have had delays because of this but my office didn't even process anything and said I must come back. Just looking for clarification! :)

    Hi,

i guess this is normal ... i haven't heard of this administration issue until i faced it myself earlier this week. They accepted my application at social security office, it looks like i won't have to go there again, but they didn't accept my application at the drivers license place so i will have to go there again once they can e-verify me. So i guess it depend on the office, the worker ... either way, it seems like it is normal.

  3. Looks as though I finally got my tracking number and my card should arrive on Thursday so will be heading to apply for my SSN!

Quick question for all those who have applied, is it just a case of bringing the EAD card itself, Birth Certificate and Passport and the completed SSN form? or is more documentation required?

    Thanks all! :)

I went there today. Here is Atlanta they were asking for the EAD card itself, birth certificate, passport and that is all.

Guys, i applied for SSN and Drivers license and both are going to be delayed, because neither of the offices were able to verify my immigration status on E-Verify. Is anyone else experiencing this?

  4. We did apply for the ssn yesterday and got a re eipt/confirmation but I guess bc of how they clock in he can't start until he has the actual number. Thanks for the info!

Hopefully they will hold the job for him until he gets it.

Some people just say stuff like "you can't work" without really knowing what they are talking about and personally, i always have to take a deep breath and do some research before I believe them and start freaking out. I hope your husband's employer didn't freak you out.

  5. At this job my husband was going to start today. They said he can't clock in without a social. I don't know if it is there system or what. I thought the EAD is what he needed to work, not a social.

Your husband has a permit to work in the US. But he also needs to go to a U.S. social services office and apply for a Social Security Card. Yes, they are right. You can't work in the US without a social security card, not even americans. He must go to any US social services office, apply and ask for a confirmation letter that he can later show to the employer. the actual card should be received within next 7 days to your home address. my employer let me work the day i showed him the confirmation letter from the social security office.

  6. This might be a stupid question but I am very confused now. The EAD is authorization to work, so what does an employer use from the card or do you have to file for a ssn before start working. We have filed for a SSN, but we thought my husband could start working once he got the EAD but we are being told different. Can someone please help?!

You can start working the day you apply for your Social security car (providing your EAD is approved). Who exactly told you your husband can't work?

  7. I received my letter for our interview.

It's in Atlanta this time which seems odd since we went to Jacksonville for our biometrics! But hey, never mind! Atlanta is closer!

Does anyone have any experience of the Atlanta GA office? Especially for interviews? Any tips for parking/hotels etc in the area? How are the staff there? Friendly?

Anyone willing to share their interview experience? It's so scary! I'm not sure why, but it is! Eek!

It's great to see that everyone is starting to get approvals and appointments etc so quick!

    Hello!

so the USCIS office where they do interviews is actually in a nice area with lots of stores and a big mall just around the corner. Lots of refugee resettlement agencies are in that area, workers in ATL office are used to dealing with very complicated cases. Staff is very friendly, but they are not messing around. Have everything ready, be prepared and honest. The director of the USCIS was here just 2 weeks ago to visit this office - they do good work. Parking is easy to find, the office has plenty of parking spots for free. As far as hotels, there are hotels in that area (you can see those on google maps), but I have never stayed there or any of our clients, so I am not sure if there are good. But i am sure that anything is fine for one night:)

Message me if you would like to know more:)

p.s make sure you are going to the right address. USCIS has 3 locations in ATL right now:)

  8. Thank you for your responses czechjtn, Angel012110 and deeder.

Yesterday I sent a request for my EAD but not for I 485 (I didn't send AP). I was told they have 15 days to give me a response.

    1. Should I also send one request for my I-485 too?

    2. Is the biometrics for both I-485 and I-765?

    3. Why would I need an info pass? Did you do that?

    thank you again!

    Hello Pao & Zach,

    1. you need to send the request for all your pending cases, so yes, do it separately for i-485 on their website as soon as possible

    2. yes, it is for both. it said at the bottom of your letter ... at least it does on mine:)

    3. infopass is the only way to talk to a uscis officer about your case in person (to tell them something or ask something when your case is little messes up). to do that, you need that info pass

  9. Hello Pao&Zach,

so i also changed my address and haven't received any notices (except for the biometrics, i got that one). Just like you, i used to call the USCIS almost every day and bother them about the notices. They wouldn't do anything. Then i completed the request for all my cases (i-131, 485, 765), if you haven't done it, definitely do it. It is the only way how you can communicate to them that something is off, if you don't then they might think you just abandoned your case (which people do, so it wouldn't be surprising to them).

Anyways, i waited forever for them to respond to one of my requests, and then finally they did (29 days after i submitted it) and i got an email from them:

"The status of this service request is:

Recently, you contacted us to let us know that you did not receive a notice related to your case. A review of our systems indicates that we have received your biometrics, your application has no outstanding hold or Request for Evidence (RFE), and remains in process. If you do not receive a decision or notice of other action within our current processing time, please call customer service at the number provided below."

    1. as far as your biometrics, i would make an info pass appointment: https://infopass.uscis.govand you can tell them in person

    2. you can be given another shot for your biometrics, but i was told by an immigration specialist that for them to approve that you must show that you have been trying to fix it (such as info pass appointment and requests)

    3. on my "my case" status, it said "we received your application" and then maybe 5-6 weeks later it said "the Post Office returned a notice we sent you for your Form I-131, Application For USCIS Travel Document, Receipt Number MSC...., because they could not deliver it." because of that time i have already submitted requests for all my cases, there is nothing more i could do. then i received the email, which calmed me down.

    4. I believe that biometrics appointment comes only in mail.

I hope this is not too confusing. If so, ask more questions, i will do better job answering them.

oh i just remembered something!!!!! So one time, when i called the USCIS, freaking out that i haven't received any mail, worried that i missed my biometrics, i got transferred to a different person and they could see the date of my appointment!!!!!! They told me that it is in 8 days, i received the mail the next day. So i would call them again and demand that they transfer you to a higher level worker?

  10. I got my biometrics done and then one week later all my lost notices got returned back to Chicago. I talked to USCIS and until 30 days pass since I submitted my inquiry they are not going to do anything. My drivers license expires next week. It is just sunshine and rainbows here:))

At least you guys are finally together with your loved ones, my wife is stationed in Japan so I am not even with her:( Anyways, fingers crossed that you guys start getting good news

  11. Hello Jwen,

sorry to hear about the RFE, we are expecting one too.

I was told by an immigration specialist that when their office receive a RFE and they believe it was not justified, they just simply resubmit the application with an explanation and in 95% it goes through. However, majority of RFEs are justified so just make sure that your Affidavit really adds up. Just my two cents.

  12. Hey Guys,

My status changed yesterday. Does this mean, the documentation provided is fine and I cannot get an RFE anymore?

"As of March 25, 2015, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC159XXXXXXX, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice"

    Hi!

unfortunately, it means that your interview is about to be either scheduled or waived. however, until the message says "being printed", "producing" ...cant remember the exact words now, you can still receive an RFE.

on the other hand, things are moving for you either way:))

  13. Hello all I am getting ready to file AOS and need to understand the medical portion after k1 any help is greatly appreciated

    Hello!

So when you had your medical done for the embassy back home, you had to leave all the medical paperwork at the embassy, except for one sheet - the vaccination record. Well, at least that's how it is in the Czech Republic anyways. The instructions for the AOS package state that if you had already done the medical check back home, then you can now attach to the application only the vaccination record. Does it make sense?
