  1. Hello everyone,

I recently was naturalized a US citizen in May. This Christmas I returned to the UK for the holidays for the first time. Leaving the US from Orlando I was told by the check in agent that it didn’t matter which passport I checked in to the flight with so I used my British passport and then used it again entering the plane and again at the UK border. I am set to return to the United States tomorrow but when I went to do early check in it told me I could not as I have to present my travel documents. I am worried that I made a mistake leaving the US on my UK passport and that this will cause a problem when I step off the plane at the US border. Does anyone have any experience with this? Have I caused a problem? Thank you so much, I am very nervous now so any advice is appreciated.

  2. Good Morning,

I need to get at least 2 certified copies of my naturalization certificate after my ceremony tomorrow for passport application and for my employer. The Tampa USCIS office is not currently accepting walk-ins or scheduling appointments, and I don't want to send the original off anywhere incase it gets lost.

Please can anyone advise how I go about obtaining one?

    Thank-you :)

  3. Hello!

I have my citizenship interview tomorrow, and need some desperate advice. We moved into our new house in October 2018, and it slipped my mind to change my address on my driver's license.

I'm now petrified I will be turned away. Please can someone advise if:

    1. I can just do a change of address online and take the print out confirmation that it has been done, alongside a utility bill with my name and address on it.

    2. Should I try to go to the DMV and change my address first thing in the morning.

    3. Just explain to the IO and bring documentation proving my address. If so what type of explanation should be acceptable?

    Thank-you

    Melissa

  4. Hello!

I am finally able to apply for citizenship! I had a few questions I wanted to clarify before submitting if I can appeal to you for help :)

Does the travel dates outside the US need to be specific (as in the exact day you flew in and out, or can it be within a day or so?

    Do I need a physical?

How far back should I submit my evidence (bank records etc)

For one of my living situations I sublet an apartment and can't remember the exact date in April 2013, can I just put the beginning of the month?

Can I travel internationally once my biometrics etc is done?

    Thank-you for all your help!

    Melissa

  5. Good Afternoon,

I was trying to access the document Derwood posted but was unable to access it. I am currently on a green card extension for the i751 removal of conditions. My expiration date is August 15th 2018 as per the extension letter. My husband and I want to take a trip to europe in June 2018 for a month. Can we trsvel back and forth safely on the extension letter with the expiratio  date so soon? Also if i dont hear anything regarding an appt, do i automsticslly get another extension letter in the mail, or do i need to make an appt at my local immigration  office to get another one?

  6. Hello

My husband is American and I am originally from England. I have a green card and currently undergoing the process for removing the conditions. My husband has been accepted into a masters program in England to start in October 2018. His course is under a year long (so we would be out of the country for about 6 months) and wondered if I applied for the re-entry permit before we left would I be able to work in my home country and still maintain my green card status?

When I read the guidelines for the rentry permit I was confused by this statement:

Your U.S. permanent residence may be considered as abandoned
for absences shorter than 1 year if you take up residence in
    another country.

Does this mean I can still work in my home country as I will not be applying for other residencies?

    Thank-you for your help.

  7. Good Afternoon,

I'm in a bit of a pickle, I filed an I-130/I-485/I-765 earlier in the year, and the I-765 has a receipt date of March 23 2015. My current EAD expires on 07/02/2015, and as a result I need to leave my current job because the new one hasn't arrived.

I have submitted about 3 service requests for the I-765, and each time I just get a response saying it is still under review, and even when I speak to an Immigration Officer, they say they cannot request any more information.

I wondered if it would help hiring an attorney at this point?, also when I go to check the case status online it says it wasn't received until May 4th 2015, when I changed my address. As, when my employer checked the status they also said that they got a receipt date of May 4th 2015, is this something I should follow up?

Basically, I'm wondered if anyone knows a way I can speed the process up?

    Thanks!

    Melissa

  8. Hi Nick

Thank-you for your reply--the RIE is as follows:

"The petitioner/sponsor's income on the Federal income tax return does not meet of exceed of the poverty guidelines. The petitioner's lists their current income on Form I864 as an amount to be considered as sufficent: however no evidence has been submitted as proof of income.

Submit evidence of the petitioner/sponsor's current income. Such evidence should include:

    letter of employment

    bank statements

    pay slips

tax documents submitted to the IRS for the most recent tax year.

I have submitted copies of all of these, and wondered should I add my myself as a cosponsor aswell, or just leave it as my husband earn above the poverty guidelines.

  9. Hello

    I have 2 questions:

My current EAD expires on July 2 2015 but my current F1 visa doesn't expire until 2017. I got married and currently applying for AOS but wondered if my OPT EAD expires before I recieve new one can I still remain in the country?

    2. As part of the AOS they have asked for additional evidencd for i864. My husband earns enough and meets the poverty limits, but wondered if it was worth adding myself as a cosponsor to boost our chances?

    Thanks for your help)

  10. Good Morning All

Yesterday we received a request for additional information for the I-864 Affidavit of Support. I am the immigrant, and my husband is a US citizen and is the sponsor.

It said "the petitioner/sponsor's income on the Federal income tax return did not meet or exceed 125% of the poverty guideline. The petitioner's sponsor lists their current income on Form I-864 as an amount considered as sufficient, however no evidence had been submitted as proof of current income:

Submit evidence of the petitioner's current income, such evidence should include:

Letter of employment containing the following:

    *dates of employment

    -nature of the job

    *yearly salary earned

*number of hours per week worked

*prospects for future employment and advancement

*pay stubs or other documentation of pay for the previous 6 months.

It also said we need to submit the last 12 months of bank statements or obtain a co-sponsor. My husband's father could be our co-sponsor but I wanted to check if he lives at a different address can he still be our sponsor?

Does a 'household' mean family members (siblings, parents, spouses) which can live under different addresses, or does it mean under one particular roof?

If my father in law can be our sponsor, how long does he remain one for? and what exactly is he responsible for?

    Thank-you!

  11. Hello

My husband and I are filing for a I-130 and I-485 form very soon and just need some clarification on the address we put down as our residence. My lease is up at the end of January and will be moving in with my husband's parents while we look for a place so our address might change during the application process. My question is do we need to wait until we have a stable address that we can put on the form or is it OK to submit my husband's parents address as our main address for now so we can get the process moving, and then submit a change of address form while the I-130 is in process?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  12. Hello--I wondered if anyone had information on adjusting from an OPT Student visa to permanent resident. I am currently on an F-1 Student OPT visa and recently got married and need to apply for the green card. My question is do I need to file an I-485 if I already have a visa and a full-time job? or can I just submit the I-130? Also if I do have to submit all paperwork do I have to file for the petition first and then send in for the green card paperwork or send it all in at once?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  13. hello--I wondered if I could ask for some advice. I'm currently on an extension of the F-1 visa and on OPT, and getting married to my fiance who is a US citizen in a couple of weeks. I wondered if there was any way I can file for the green card application online? or if there are certain parts I can do online rather than mailing it out? I currently also work as a school teacher and wondered also if the green card application doesn't get approved in time before my opt runs out if I could gain a temporary work visa in the meantime?

    Thanks for your help
