To anyone who is willing to listen, I have been telling that this puts a damper on the spirits of being naturalized and leaves a bitter taste :(

I hope yours will show up soon.

On a side note, I emailed the privacy release form to my senator. Two days and no response and no one responds to the phone calls. I will try the other senator tomorrow, I guess

I agree. It’s definitely not a great feeling to experience right after become citizens. I hope they do something soon to change this process! I contacted both senators, our congressman and they have been really supportive however the passport facility is not responding to their inquiries so they have been waiting as well 😥

It's not the USPS - trust me on this.... They may be a day late, but consistently being 6 weeks is a myth that the state department somehow is artificially creating. Possibly in edge cases, but not in most cases, anyway

If the state department is shorthanded, they should just be transparent about it rather than beating around the bush and unnecessarily blaming the

My passport application was delivered to the Philadelphia center within two days of applying, but it got bounced around for 5 more weeks before showing up as 'in process'.

Definitely a 'backward' process for an 'advanced' country.....

I agree! 6 weeks for mailing is definitely too long. I have been calling at least twice a day and each agent tells me something different. Yesterday I was told that my passport is almost finished and I should be receiving it within a week, today they told me there is no way to find out where in the process it is and my best option is to keep looking for an urgent appointment 24/7 praying someone cancels. I don’t know how helpful the phone service is if they can’t give a straight answer or help clarifying the process. It’s sad we have to go through this really.

Call your senator. Mine reached out to them the same day and located my app. Today we called again and once again explained how urgent everything is. The senator assigned a lady to my case and she called the supervisor in the passport center. She also told us, she did 15 passports like that today, the passport centers are really busy, that’s why it’s taking longer now. Contact your senator and let them know, you tried your congressperson but it didn’t work, be nice and make it sound like your life depends on it. 😂

I tried to call but here in CA they do not pick up phones apparently so I sent them an email with the required docs, including my flight ticket.  Hoping to hear something this week! fingers crossed 😪

It's possible the passport agency made a mistake, you need to call and have it corrected if so. They don't care if you actually get it expedited or not, they will just pay back the $60 that you paid extra if you call and complain once you're outside normal processing time. So you need to talk to them before that.

The issue is that I have been calling for a week now at least twice a day and spent hours on hold with no results. When I get lucky and reach an agent they tell me just wait and they have no idea what is going on with my case. The check has not even been cashed yet and it has been two weeks already. I am beyond stressed and upset.

The received my passport app on 5/20/21.

Called my senador on 6/14/21 and 6/15/21 to ask for help since my flight is on Sunday.

I’m getting the passport tomorrow morning, they basically made it today and sent it via UPS. I’m so effing happy, I was so stressed out 😰

Your post gave me sooo much hope. My flight is in 12 days and my application was received on exactly one week ago. I called my congressman yesterday and was told that they reached out to the agency but have not heard back yet. Which state are you from? I am in CA and my application is in NH. Did your status say that you chose the expedited service? Mine says that I chose the routine service even though I included the expedition fee in my check which has not even been cashed yet. Do you recommend reaching to my senator as well or the congressman is enough?

Congrats and I cannot wait to share the same story as yours 🙏🏻

    Wow.

    What to Expect:

    • Mail delays are impacting when we receive passport applications for processing. Our processing times begin the day we receive your application, not the day you mail it.
    • Routine service can take up to 18 weeks from the day an application is submitted to the day a new passport is received. The 18-week timeframe includes up to 12 weeks for processing and up to 6 weeks for mailing times on the front and back end.
    • Expedite service (for an additional $60) can take up to 10 weeks from the day an application is submitted to the day a new passport is received. The 10-week timeframe includes up to 6 weeks for processing and up to 4 weeks for mailing times on the front and back end.

Our processing times (up to 12 weeks for routine; up to 6 weeks for expedite) do not include mailing times. Mail times vary and delays have been significant. Plan ahead.

Oh I miss read it.  this is so stressful. they added a whole month to the processing time. Thanks for sharing the link!

  7. It looks like the DHS website was just updated:

    Expedited: 10-18 weeks now 😭

I have my flight in less than two weeks and when I applied expedited was only 4 weeks. Any tips on what to do? this is unbelievable and so stressful. I cannot even book an urgent appointment 3 days before my flight because they are FULLY booked and the over the phone agents do not seem to be able to do anything besides reading what is already on the website.

call your post office or application center to confirm...

I called the application center and after hours on hold they do not have a straight answer. they keep telling me to wait. It is almost two weeks and they have not even cashed the check and the status online says it will take 10/12 weeks, which is not what I applied for. I will call the post office once they open today. Thanks!

Did you include a check with EXACT amount they are requesting for expedited services?

Yes the exact amount and the USPS staff confirmed it. If I had known it would be like this I would have just applied at the fast agency 3 days before my travels but I did not want t take the risk and now I am stuck. After hours on hold when I get to someone they do not help at all and they all say just keep waiting. May be the post office staff made a mistake and sent it as routine? 😪

  10. Hello everyone!

I sent my application 10 days ago and chose the expedited service. It was received two days ago and when I check the status it says that I chose the routine service which will take up to 12 weeks. I paid for the expedited fee along with the 1-2 day shipping hopping to get my passport before my urgent travel by the end of this month. I am worried that they made a mistake. They have not cashed the check I sent and when I called them and spoke two times to the phone representative they both seemed to be not sure of what is going on and they kept telling me to wait. Anyone had this experience before? How long did it take them to cash the check after the application was received? Is there a way I can reach someone who will give me a clear answer? I am stressed and tired of waiting 2hrs+ on hold and not get a straight answer 😪 Thank you!!

I applied from Bay Area in California

  11. Your EAD card does not state "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole" on it? If not, was there some reason you did not receive an EAD/AP combo card, such as applying for the AP after the EAD and not at the same time?

As for wait time, different USCIS offices have more backlog than others, so it can take longer in some places to get an interview scheduled.

If you need to travel abroad, make an infopass appointment and your I-131 approval notice. Let them know you have been having issues receiving the actual AP document and need one to travel.

My EAD states that it is NOT valid for US re-entry. and I applied on the same day and sent everything in the same folder.

I had an infopass appointment and they said that they would mail it to me, that was last month and I am still waiting. the status online still says '' Case approved''. so they have not sent anything yet nor produced a card. why? God Knows! everytime i call i hear something different

  12. The EAD and AP is a combo card, you don't get two, you get only one so I really don't understand what you are saying about them wanting to

    send another card.

I did not understand why they did not issue me a combo card even though i applied on the same day for both the applications, they said they would separate them, so i already got my EAD that says it is not valid for US re-entry, now still waiting for the separated AP that was approved a long time ago.

  13. My AP and EAD got approved on the same day, I got my EAD but not my AP, they said they would mail my AP separately, until now and it has been more than 70 days since the approval, I have not got the AP yet and my status online still says ''case approved''.

I went to an appointment a month ago and they said they would mail it to me, nothing received!! i called many times and each time i hear something different, the last one told me that she would make an inquiry to make another card for me, the other one told me that they made a mistake and they already sent me one without changing the status online, but i still did not get anything...... I am frustrated!

My AOS still says that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview, and it has been like this for over 70 days as well ,and when i called and asked they told me that they just started working on applications that were filed in May, and mine was in September so i still have 4 to 5 months to wait, while others who filed after me got they GC in hand already, why mine is different?

I dont understand what is going on with my application.

    Any ideas?

  14. JAREmorocco,

My wife has also been waiting for her interview date. Her states has remain in the same status since October "Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received" but we did get her EAD beginning of Dec 2015. Since then, no actions/movements on her file yet. I did check the Field Office where she would get her Interview and it's showing that they are about 6+ months behind. They were working on March 2015 filers as of October 2015. Luckily for us, we have out 6 month twin boys to occupy our time while we get our turn with the interview. The trick to this game, is patience and for now that's what we're doing. Good luck with your process and hope you hear something back soon. But I do share your feeling that others have been lucky to have gotten their GC and/or interview. But we'll get ours - hopefully soon. Cheers!

Thank you so much! and congratulations on have the little twin boys , i am sure that will make you enjoy life and forget about the process a lot! i wish you the best of luck!

how do you know which office is processing your case?

  15. Congrats to all the approvals and Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

My case still says: '' Ready to be scheduled for an interview''. and it has been like this for 6 weeks. and I dont know how much time it will take.

how can i know which center is processing my case( my Receipt Number starts with MSC.

Is anyone still waiting for an interview like me? why lots of people have already got their GC while others are still waiting? what makes it different?

  16. In my EAD and AP approval notice, I found this :

Your EAD and AP applications have been approved. The work authorization document with I-512 endorsement will be sent to you separately.

Evidence of employment authorization : at anytime before the expiration, show the form I-766 to your employer as evidence that you are authorized to work,

Evidence of Advance Parole: The form I-766 with I-512 endorsement is also an evidence that you may travel abroad while your I-485 is pending.

When i check online, my AP still says : Approved. even thought it has been more than a month now since it was approved, while the EAD was approved on the same day as the AP, turned into new card is being produced and shipped the following week.

and also, my AP was approved and it says that on the notice but when i got my EAD card it says that it is not valid for US re-entry.
I called them and they did not understand and they said they would mail it to me separately but i never got it.

they said they would send me also that form I-512 endorsement, but I never got anything like that

What is an I-512 endorsement and what is the form I-766 ? do all your approvals say that? what do you think might have happened to my AP?

I dont understand what happended to my case!

  17. Hello VJ family!
I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season and congrats to the people who got approved while i wish good luck to the others who are still waiting, like me!

I already have my EAD and my case hase been saying that it is ready to be scheduled for an interview fow weeks now without any update.

I hope to hear some opinions!
