Finally got my approval! Notice date April 21st
-
Still patiently waiting. I've misplaced my biometrics letter a long time ago so I haven't checked on my status. Hopefully everything is fine though. This whole time waiting, I've had another baby, halfway done with nursing school, it's a crazy long wait!
-
I appreciate everyone posting updates! What a painfully slow process. My one year extension expired November 9th. I haven't got my passport stamped though as I'm not planning on leaving the country for another year, my SS card doesn't appear to have any restrictions, and I'm also 40 weeks pregnant and don't fancy driving 3 hours to the nearest USCIS center.
Is there any time estimate for the California service center people?
-
When I enter my receipt number in case status, it says no recognised. Does anyone know why?
-
I'm sure I've probably been told that a dozen times, thank you! A baby and the start of nursing school, last thing on my mind is the RoC I barely remember doing now, haha.
-
So that doesn't even change when the extension expires? I'm not planning on leaving the country until the middle of next year, so if I don't need to I won't! I think my husband is just worried that when it expires, it will cause issues with my schooling.
-
I was hoping for that too. We're also nearly 3 hours from the nearest USCIS office, it would be a real pain to have to go down there. And I am currently pregnant and due in late November, my extension is up around December 8th. I don't want the aggravation of it!
Fingers crossed.

I had a prolonged period where I hadn't started the immigration process. It was full of many nightmares that I was stuck outside the US without my family, so traveling on the extension, or a stamp, fills me with anxiety.
I am also undecided about applying for US citizenship, so it hasn't been something I have considered. If only they moved as quickly with processing as they do with processing our checks

At this point, that's most certainly a good estimate.

I never considered the possibility, but what happens if we pass our one year extension?
-
It's a shame that this stage takes so long, especially when it seems so simple. So we're likely still 6 months out from processing? (For CSC people).
-
I completed my biometrics earlier in the month, sorry I never updated. As fate would have it, we all got a horrible stomach virus the day before my appointment. I didn't know how to change the appointment, so we made the 2 1/2 hour drive. I forgot that they take a new picture for your Green Card, what a dreadful mugshot I ended up with, lol! Oh well, done and the wait now begins.
-
I got my biometrics appointment today for December 8th.
-
I'm getting a bit nervous at these biometrics dates coming in, lol. My green card was expiring December 4th, but I didn't want to end up with a biometrics appointment during the fall semester. I have finals December 6th and 8th, these appointments are coming in quickly!

Please add us to the list.
We sent our package (563 pages!) to CSC on November 21, 2016 with USPS overnight delivery with tracking.
It was received on November 22, 2016.
P.S.
We didn't ask for a signature when sending the package, but somebody signed the package at the P.O.BOX according to USPS.
563 pages!!!! I guess I should be waiting for my RFE, lol. Not including the forms, I sent about 40 pages. Yikes.
-
Not sure how to update the list, do you just copy and paste it? I got my NOA1 in the mail today, receipt date is 11/09/2016.
-
My check showed up as processing today. I remember back to the original petition, there was a paper you could include to get email updates? Was that a possibility with this one? Because I sure didn't, lol. Hopefully my NOA1 shows up sometime next week.

Hey CoTL!
Best of luck on your submission.
The address depends on where you reside. The following page has a subsection on the info for where to file (California vs Vermont Service Center):
It would be great if you could update your timeline so that I/we can follow it.
Also, if you care to include your name in the list (for either service center)?
Let the waiting game begin!
That is the page I had checked. It shows the CA service center for Louisiana, but many other websites show the Vermont service center for Louisiana. It must've changed recently. I'm not sure if my timeline is updated? I put my general timeline in my signature.

Hi everyone
I sent my package of today. I'm already riddled with anxiety. I used the address off the USCIS website, but other websites say I should've mailed it to the Vermont address. I'm also worried I didn't send enough evidence, I could fit my whole package in a plastic paper protector, lol. We shall see. Good luck to everyone!

I have been here for six months now. I am happy here, but the one thing I am struggling with is the food. Some of it just tastes different, it isn't what I'm expecting (cheese, for example. Cheddar doesn't taste anything like cheddar). I'm still hunting for the right go-to brands. A lot of it is trial and error just now. I often get cravings for random British foods - a good banger, McVities chocolate digestives, Branston Pickle... And I'd love to go somewhere, just once, and get a really good cup of tea for a change.
I haven't had a decent sausage since I got here! I've just recently got "Irish Banger Sausages" from Fresh Market, and they are a joke. Chocolate digestives, I have actually seen at Walmart though! World Market has quite a lot of English foods too.
I want black pudding.

Nope, mine wasn't expired when I sent it in for renewal. I got an extra 9 months added on to the expiry date of my new passport due to the fact that my old passport hadn't expired yet.
OK that's good to know! I literally have nightmares that the USA won't let me back in, so I think I would feel better renewing it with my married name.
-
I recently did this. It was very straightforward. I was able to make the application online and then just send off a signed declaration form with a certified marriage certificate and my old passport. Think I got my new passport back just over a week after I sent my old one in. No need to go back to the UK.
Does it have to be expired first? My British passport doesn't expire till 2017, but I'm hoping to go back to visit in 2016. I have heart palpitations worrying because my green card is my married name and passport is maiden name.
-
Where is everybody from in the UK and where are you now in the USA ?? I#m from Birmingham UK and now in Birmingham AL
From Manchester UK, now living near Lafayette Louisiana.

The English is really no concern whatsoever. I grew up in Canada and spelled words incorrectly all my life as other Canadians do; e.g. I would put a u in honor or color. Now that I live in the US I know better. I dropped my u's. When I moved to Canada from England years prior to that I quickly stopped calling flashlights torches as well. You'll get used to it very quickly. The official language in the US is, after all, English, not "American". The changes are really few and far between.
There are of course some extremely stupid ways people speak/write, but they do that elsewhere as well, e.g. "I could care less".
If there is one word you need to practice it would be aluminum. Don't make that yum sound!
My parents are stubborn and continue to mispronounce words now 30 years after leaving England. Example: Controversy from my dad is irritatingly pronounced "Controv-ersy" instead of "Contro-versy". I think he does it just to annoy.
I lived in the UK for 19 years. I've been in the US for 7 years, I think I am destined to stay stubborn with some words. Like basil, I just can't say bay-zil. It sounds wrong.
I say flashlight not torch, but also boot and not trunk. And alu-minyum. Lol.

haha yes that's how he is. He is just a tram ride away from Manchester so he walks a lot to the bus or tram and the store etc..etc... but I live in TN so when he has been here to visit before we always talk about the fact that it takes ages to get anywhere in a car much less if you ever tried to walk it. So it'll be the same and I think that's the funniest thing he thinks I say is ya'll and plum (you know, I plum ran over that thing) or if I say I killed something. (we play video games together lol) he says that I pronounce it and hill or anything else spelled similarly as keeled haha he just chuckles. But it is hard to go from a city like that , even though that's a small town to you guys , to where i live which is a proper small town and has significantly less people and place than where he is from. And I'm about 30 mins drive from downtown or the nearest city area. So it'll be a change I'm sure. I love all the input from everyone to compare. It's awesome. Thanks
It's hard going from a well connected transport area to somewhere more rural. Also, I wish I would've ate more Indian and Chinese food before I left. The nearest Indian restaurant is 100 miles away and it isn't even that great! Makes me miss Curry Mile! I'm hoping to go back next summer and I have a list of foods I just need to eat. Indian. FIsh and chips. Black pudding. Lol.
I bet you're the poshest one down on the bayou.
You wouldn't believe the amount of comments I have had "you sound like you're right out of Downton Abbey!" Ha! A servant maybe. I lived between Manchester and Sheffield, and went to a nicer college so I sound like a well spoken farmer.
It is better than the alternative - one, just one, of my brothers has this weird Yorkshire-American accent mix that sounds neither American nor British. Honestly, he sounds like he's got a speech impediment. It is no good.
Anyway, better one or the other.
My kids sound very American to my family, and English to Americans. I get unnecessarily mad when my 6 year old calls me "mom". It's not her fault, but it sounds sooo wrong.
Schools are so different too. My oldest is in first grade, and started in Kindergarten with 2 pieces of homework every night. Now it is 3. She has 3 tests a week, which I think is insane at her age. Our rural location doesn't help with school quality really. Then I get mad about all the awful food additives that are allowed in food here, that is banned in the UK. Sometimes I really think I want to move back home.

I haven't checked anything since biometrics as I lost my biometrics letter. I just hoped it would come through and I've been following this thread. 536 days!!!!! Took 77 days for my original GC.
