  1. Hi,

I apologise as I am sure this would have been asked before.

Got SSN upon US arrival and before marriage, in maiden name. Was told to come in with marriage certificate once married and they would change my SSN to my new married name as state of California uses marriage licence as official name change document.

Got married on K1, went to go and change my SSN to married name but because my K1 visa 90 days had expired two days earlier, the system wouldn't let the guy change my SSN to my married name and he didn't really have any advice for me, just that he was sorry and he couldn't override the system and neither could his manager..

    Not sure what to do?

Starting to get my documents together for AOS, do I do this in my married or maiden name? What about my work permit? does this have to match my SSN in maiden name?

Am I ever going to be able to use my married name?!

    Can someone please help!!

  2. Hello,

My fiancé is in the military and on the affidavit it says "I derive an annual income of" is this his net annual salary that he gets in his bank account or his gross annual salary before any deductions come out?

If it's gross annual salary, how do I work this out on his LES (it's so confusing compared to my payslips). He has no clue and neither do I.

    Can someone please help!

  3. Affidavit of support, do I only need this filled in for my interview?

My partner meets above minimum income requirements but at this time he literally has no money in his bank balance from all our trips visiting each other this year and our international / domestic Christmas flights. Will this matter? Is there a minimum current bank balance to ensure approval on affidavit of support?I'm a bit worried.

    Thank you

  4. Hi guys,

I just received my noa2 which made my day yesterday!

Once I receive my visa (after my interview) I have to give my work my four weeks notice.

I have a holiday booked from mid December to early January to see my fiancé.

If my visa is granted less than four weeks before my holiday in December, I am I still able to visit him on visa waiver (not k1 visa) and then return to my home country, finish my last few weeks of work and then return to United States on my k1 visa?

Or is just better to ensure my interview is after my December holiday?

    Hopefully this makes sense.
