I called customer service and had absolutely no problem scheduling infopass. I was given options to go there the next day at 11:45, 12:00, and 12:15. It didn't work for me. Therefore I was given the day after that. I could choose any time of a day. I picked 8:45. I found it super convenient to make infopass this way because before I tried it online many times with no luck.
Ah thx! I suppose scheduling via phone is the best bet.

Went to infopass for the stamp. They confirmed they have my case. Though it isn't in Brooklyn but in NYC.
PSA: Brooklyn/NYC Infopass - It is known that getting an infopass appt in NYC is next to impossible. Pick Hartford CT for an appt and go there. No, they can't process (allegedly). But tell them your sob story. The staff (friendly, courteous and empathetic) is able to get you a preferred NYC appt through their internal portal. They even printed me out a new appt conf and wished me well. Make a road trip. Quiet little town.

Forgot to update: I got approved and received my GC in the mail on 09/20.
Renewed an expired passport from my home country in NYC and making a trip out for the first time on a fresh passport with no stamps or visas. Just the 10yr GC.
All the best for those still in limbo. Feel like the home stretch.

Got my approval
email today (from my layer) - Was freaking out so got an i551-stamp . Incidentally according to the notice, it was approved the same day 01/31. NYC Infopass appt was impossible to find - so booked one in Hartford, CT. When I went there the lady asked to see my proof of CT resident and I said I'm staying here temporarily and my extension expires soon so I need the stamp. She said she can book an appt in NYC as she has "better access" to it and guess what showed as completely booked out for weeks were completely available. Did that and in a day I heard from my lawyer with a scan of a notice that I was approved.
If I remember correctly package was sent 1/31/17 on a 02/05/17 expiration. Married but divorced in 9 months and has jointly filed a wiaver too. -
^^
My original receipt has TWO numbers. The first one - the one that is actually printed on the extension - does not work. I called the number and the woman told me to give me the other number as well - it worked.
and +1 on what it says on mine with the 2nd number. -

Congrats! I want though a similar situation about the same timeline. The one thing I strongly suggest when I doubt is to definitely get a lawyer. It was key to me to continue re-building my life during the years that this process was on-going. I didn't have an interview or get any RFE'S. It was seamless and once I sent in my docs to the lawyer, and did my biometrics, the next update was that the card was mailed.
