  1. Initially the office seemed so neutral. But at the end of the interview he smiled and informed us that over the weekend he had gone through our file and the evidence he saw was good enough for him to approve us. He did not separate us but asked each of us to explain at what time in our relationship did we decide to get marriage. Describe your first date. Describe your wedding? Do you have any kids or do you plan? What's your spouse date of birth? What city was your spouse born? Where does your spouse work/occupation? Current address. Overall, there is nothing to prepare if your marriage is real and you now each other. The interview was so relaxed. Bring a lot of the evidence for your relationship. Good lyck

  2. I had my interview today at the Baltimore, MD office. The officer approved us on spot. He said, usually he does not reveal his decision, but he decided to let us know immediately because he had enough information. I am so glad this process has finally has come to an end. It has been a long journey for me. Thanks VJ friends....I would have gone crazy without you. It has been a pleasure going through this journey with you!

  3. I had my interview today..... First I was late because of my hard head husband who didn't want to use the GPS. anyway got there about seven minutes after my interview appointment... Got to the security who check my appointment notice then send me to the appointment checking window. wait about 15 minutes or more then a immigration officer came out an call my name. We ( Me, Husband and Baby) went back to his office sat for about 2 minutes while he look through my file then he ask for my passport. Look through my passport then continue to look through my file. Then he ask

IO: When did I got married?

    Me: July 14, 2014

IO: Why did we get married in Brooklyn If we live in New Jersey?

Me: Because I was spending time with my great grand father.

then he ask for my I-94... continue to type and check my file. then he ask a few questions from the I-485. After which I notice he had stamp APPROVED on my file but still had us sit there a few more minutes before he said EVERYTHING LOOK GOOD YOU SHOULD RECEIVED YOUR CARD IN TWO WEEKS.

P.S I did not submit any evidence so I was surprise he didn't ask for anything....

Congrats! I am not surprised he did not ask for evidence. The baby is a huge evidence.lol

  4. So I got a notice from USCIS today that our interview was canceled. I'm so upset, but mostly pissed off about this whole situation. They gave us a date and less than a week later they cancel it. Now I'm really confused and frustrated about how long it's gonna take for them to reschedule.

It's just like they gave us a hope that this whole waiting game and process will be over soon and than they took it away. So mad at USCIS :(

THis happens if your local office is extremely back logged and they are doing restructuring or may be there is an event happening at the local office like an "office party", on your interview day and they would not be able to see you. Schedule an info pass, and talk to someone to make sure this is not some kind of a error. Or you can just plan to show up on the original interview date. The worst they could do is turn you away. There are some threads in this forum of people's interview being cancelled for I unspecified reasons. From what I hear, it does not take too long to reschedule your interview. It would only be delayed by a few weeks. However, I know it must be so difficult, getting your interview date cancelled. Hang in there...this process is very stressful.
  5. Checked the mailbox after work and was really surprised to find a letter from USCIS. Our interview is scheduled on July 21!!! It came when I less expected and wasn't even hoping to hear something soon. No emails or case status changes online though,it still shows "RFE review".

    Congrats!!! What a pleasant surprise.

SOOOO HHAPPY just opended my mail box and my EAD was inside its approved i CAN NOW WORK YEY !!!!!

    Congrats!!!!

  6. Sorry everyone...was out celebrating all night! We got approved and should have GC in two weeks!

The interview was quick and only lasted 20 minutes. She just asked how we met and where we got married..that's it. I was expecting way more questions than that lol. Checked our birth certificates and divorce papers...approved it in computer stamped our letter and sent us on our way :)

Great news Chewy2012! Definitely this deserved a celebration. Wish you both the best.

  7. Thank you! :)

It's a great feeling. I'm gonna go to SSA on Monday. Did they tell you smth about that they can't verify your EAD yet or it went well? I can't wait for my DL, it's been 7 months since my Florida one has expired and it drives me crazy being not able to drive. Unfortunately our car just broke down and the DMV is like an hour away, so I guess I will have to wait again :( But anyway good luck with your DL renewal!!L

Thank you! I'm sure you will hear the good news really soon, hopefully the next week :)

It's normal. I got 3 emails on a day they approved my EAD. You will recieve a hard copy of NOA2 earlier than the card itself and they will update your status again when the card will be mailed out, it takes around a week after approval date.

Perhaps you should wait about week or so before going to SSA. I am finding out the each SSA office deals with this issue differently. Yes she could not verify my EAD in the system, however, she entered all my information and made a copy of my EAD. She said I did not need to make another trip to SSA. She said once USCIS verifies the info( which she said takes less than 10 days not 4 weeks per SSA system), my new SSN card will automatically be send in for production. According to her it was not a big deal.

I am sorry about your car and DMV being so far away. It won’t hurt to wait a few more weeks. It must be so difficult not being able to drive. I would go crazy too.lol.In Maryland you can get a valid driver’s license as long as you have lived in the state for more than 2 years and paid taxes( it does not matter whether your visa expired or not). My DL is still valid for 7 more years, so I will just change the name not renew it.I would have hated going through those driving tests again.

  8. I just got my EAD card, was a little bit worried because my status has never changed to "USPS has picked up your card", so I didn't get any tracking number. It's my first official document with my new last name and I am so happy and relieved right now! :luv:

Next step is to finally hear something about our RFE response and interview.

Great!!!I also got so excited when I got my EAD with my new last name. I went to SSA almost immediately to change the name on my social security card( but I think i will have to make another trip there after my green card). Now, my next trip is to DMV to get my name changed on my DL. I can't wait for this whole process to be done.

  9. Interview went by fast not they only asked the usual where we met, how, etc. we showed some pictures of the wedding and ceremony. Also we had some bills that we had together. They did aak for my i94 but i told her i had lost it we didnt have a problem because of that. Then she said we were approved and my GC should ahip within 4-6 weeks. Good luck guys just dont get nervous and relax it will be just fine.

    Congrats!Wow... what a happy ending!

  10. Thank you awe787! Hope I will get it tomorrow or on Saturday :)

Nope, it was my second J-1 and I never was a subject of this 2 year rule. May I ask you where are you from? Just of curiosity :)

I am from Kenya. You must have been lucky not to have any 2yrr on your J-1. Mine was the first J1.

Im at the atlanta office waiting on my interview im excited and nervous at the same time ill let you guys know how everything goes.

Good luck! we are rooting for you :)

  11. Hey guys,

I have a question to people who already got their EAD. Did you get an email with the tracking number and how long did it take dor USPS to pick your card up after your status changed to "card was mailed"?

My status changed to "card was mailed to you" yesterday around 8:30 am and I still have no updates about the tracking number :(

    Hi Lettyana,

I received an email with USPS tracking number the same day my "card was mailed". And when I checked the USPS tracking site , I noticed my package was picked up the same day I received a "card was mailed" message. I do not think you should worry because sometimes USCIS website updates are not accurate or takes time to come up.There is actually no formula to this. lol. Most people receive their card within 2 days after it has been mailed.

As a side note, I know you a filing from J-1, did you ever need a 2yrr waiver at all?

  12. I'm afraid we will get an RFE when we go in for interview, because my husband doesn't have his I94. The lawyer I spoke with said that his original passport stamp when he came in is fine...but I'm still worried, the cost to get a replacement is $330!

I do not think you should worry too much. Your lawyer is right. The stamp in the passport that he received at the POE should be enough proof of legal entry.

  13. Yes it did thanks, our interview is on June 10th and still haven't received EAD yet. I think I'm going to have hubby wait until he gets his GC to get SS card. Our SSA office is horrible! I wouldn't want him to have to go back twice within I would assume only a months time :)

When I changed my name it was a whole day process of waiting!

I also hate making trips to SSA office but I had to because I have a job interview coming up next week, and so far, my green card interview is not scheduled yet. Although yesterday I was surprised i only last 30 minutes.

  14. Ok so nervous checked my case said stopped due to RFE its just a birth certificate but says got updated on april 22nd. Got the RFE in mail today im going to send it off tommorow hoe long till they recive it roughly anyony know ?

Is it about late registration of birth certificate? I am a little nervous I could also receive that one too because my birth was registered after two years.
