    I have been living in Japan since 2012.

    I am going to file for the FEIE(2555ez) to cover my time here in Japan.

    How do I cover all my time in Japan?meaning, how do I backfile the 2555ez for 2012?

    What's the most organized and cheapest way to mail these documents?

    Should I send them in with the I-864 and other financial documents?

    Also,If I file the 2555ez for 2012-present, then I don't need to file any other federal taxes right?

    I'm very confused about the terms "filing" and "paying" taxes, are they the same thing?

    I have a problem with filing federal taxes.

    I've started using turbotax but since I'm filing for the FEIE I can't use the free version.

    In my situation, I usually don't pay taxes but now it's going to cost 35$ for each year of turbotax I'm using.

    I really have a gut feeling that I'm doing and paying too much.

    Can somebody break things down to me simply and recommend a strategy for completing everything as economically and efficiently as possible. I'm going crazy,

    Thank you for your quick reply.

    I'm trying to prepare on my mother's behalf as much as possible before asking her to do any of the work so that way she doesn't feel overwhelmed.

    For the letter from the employer, is there a formal/ specific format to go by? If not, I'll just find something on the Internet.

    1) I'm in the same situation as Jeff but im wondering if there's any reason I should use both of my parents as joint sponsors. Would this I crease my wife's chances of success in obtaining her visa? I was thinkng of using my mother only because it might be shorter and simpler that way.

    2)I'm on part one of the I-864 and I'm already confused. Should I check 1a?

    3) in part 2, the information slots for the m ailing address of the Principal Immigrant ( my wife) seem to be formatted for an American address but we live in Japan. How should I fill this section out?

    4)Alina registration number, I don't think japanese citizens have an alien registration or social security number. Is that correct?

    5)part 3 question 1, if I mark "yes" then do I skip the rest of part 3?

    6)part 4 is about the sponsor, is that my mother or me?

    I'm sorry if my questions answers are very obvious but I figured it would be better to just ask rather than panic no overthink things for too long.
