Hello!
I just passed my interview for K1 on Tuesday and I'm more than excited.
Everything is ready to go, landlord has been notified, job has been notified, etc.
The one thing that is truly confusing and giving me a headache is my newly financed vehicle that I purchased in June 2014, a brand new Nissan.
So here is what I've collected so far in regards to importing this vehicle:
1) Letter of emissions compliance being received in the next couple days from Nissan (confirmed)
2) Letter of recall clearance being received within 30 days after crossing border so that I may register vehicle (confirmed)
3) I am ready for any duties and importing documents that will be filed at border
4) I have been advised from Washington State DMV that I may need a letter from the bank stating they are the lien holder (title holder)
So questions I have.
Will I need this letter from TD Auto Finance upon importation at POE? I have every intent to continue paying my car loan while in US (finance assisting), and a bank account will continue to be active to allow for this.
Has anyone experienced this unique situation of importing a financed vehicle and what they have done. I am constantly being told that I must pay out the loan before I import into US. I do not believe this is the ONLY option.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
K1 VISA Approved! How to import financed vehicle...?
in Canada

Thanks for the link and the history of conversation, I appreciate it!
How about the option of not doing an import at the border upon entering on my K1 and having a year to do an official import?
My fiancé's insurance will cover the vehicle and be able to add me so the 1 year import qualifying factor can be taken into consideration right?
But if not, at the POE, will I NEED the letter from TD finance stating that they own the car (lien holder)?
Also, what did you mean by financial treaty between Canada and the US?
confused by that
thanks again!
