  1. Hi,

I've sent an email to the USEM twice now, one on Feb 21 and another on March 9, asking for the return of my passport because I need to travel. Both times I did not get a reply. Here in Peru they don't have a phone line to speak directly to them. Should I email them a third time? If I don't get a response on time I might need to just get a new passport.

  2. After 7 months of Administrative Processing the embassy sent this email:

'We would like to inform you that your cases administrative process is almost concluded. Once the consular officer finishes reviewing your case, a consular assistant will contact you and inform you on how to proceed.'

Has anyone ever received this kind of message? If so, is this a good sign? Any advice/info is highly appreciated.

  3. I'm very thankful for your message. I didn't think I'd last this long, I didn't think there was life after such a decision, I didn't even think I could decide and finally free myself from everyone's judgement on this process. Thank you again for such wise words. I think I'll be okay now.

I'm so sorry for what you've been going through for such a long time. For many, the CR1/IR1 process is an excessively long, emotionally exhausting experience. You've waited so long, only to be stuck where you are now, so close to the end, yet so far, with no idea when it'll end. The only way to keep hanging on is if the relationship is strong and stable. There's no way to even guess how long you'll be in AP, it could end at moment, or go on for months on end. I see some cases here in VJ that have been in AP for many months and even a few still waiting after a year, with no explanation. Judging by what you've said, it does seem that it's time to save yourself from any more suffering. There's a lot more life to be lived. If you feel it's time to move on, then have courage and move forward in a new direction.

  4. I just updated it. My interview was July 21st and we were put on 221g because the embassy had me as deported in a year when I literally climbing a mountain in the highlands of Peru. We sent them proof that I was never deported, documents from the department of Justice stating that I was never removed. All proof arrived in October and then they asked for my passport. It's been now 60 days since my passport was dropped off, sadly my relationship has worsen because my husband needs me there but administrative processing is just a black hole. The proof should have sufficed but at this point things in my relationship have turned sour and emotionally, I can't see myself continuing a process that is deteriorating me both emotionally and mentally. I'm physically drained.

I looked at your time line. Your case has been sitting at NVC for 15 months without being complete yet, or you've not updated it? You've been waiting an awfully long time since you first filed. I'm guessing the circumstances in your marriage have changed, leading you to want to drop your case after all this time. Write them a letter explaining that you want to withdraw, and include a reason why.

  5. Hello guys,

I had my interview at the US embassy on July 21st. During the interview I was given a 221g yellow form requesting additional documentation. Additional documentation was received by the US embassy October 5th. On October 22nd I was asked to drop off passport at the US embassy. Passport was dropped off on October 27th. It's been now over 7 weeks (more than 30 business days) and I haven't heard back from the US embassy. My husband emailed the embassy on December 1st and the embassy replied with the following message:

"The visa is in process. Unfortunately , it is not a manual process so we cannot expedite it.

In order to retrieve the tracking number (AWB) required to pick up the passport from the selected DHL office, please log in to the account created on the U.S Visa Services (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-PE/iv) within approximately 5-7 business days."

My husband never asked for the visa to be expedited, he just inquired the status of the process. I already made the account on the US Visa Services back in June and it hasn't been updated, only show 'Appointment'. My status on CEAC changed from AP to Ready the next day after passport drop off, it has been updated a few times because we check the last date, but has been Ready ever since. I know that my medical exam will be 6 months old on December 30th so I'm wondering if all of this is a good sign. We are more in the dark than when we began this process and it's literally tearing my family apart because we don't know what is going on and the embassy has been very vague with their replies from the beginning.

We'll appreciate any advice or comment. Thank you!

  6. Hello,

My husband received the following e-mail from the embassy. Could someone shed some light on what it actually means? Than you!

The visa is in process. Unfortunately , it is not a manual process so we cannot expedite it.

In order to retrieve the tracking number (AWB) required to pick up the passport from the selected DHL office, please log in to the account created on the U.S Visa Services (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-PE/iv) within approximately 5-7 business days.

  7. Hi everyone,

I had my interview on July 21, 2015. At the interview I was given a 221g and was told that I needed to gather documents from 2009-2012 that prove that I've been living out of the US. Their system showed me as deported which was in fact untrue. I was able to gather documents from 2009-2012 and a legal document for the department of Justice where it specifically says that I was NEVER deported. All documents arrived at the embassy on October 5-6, 2015. My status on the CEAC website went from AP to Ready and then 4 days later the embassy called me to drop off my passport and then my status went back to AP and then 8 days later to Ready. I can see that it was updated yesterday but it still says Ready. What should I be expecting now? Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? I dropped off my passport 10 business days ago (October 27, 2015)
