  1. So my green card expires on the 4th of April, so planning to send in my stuff tomorrow. The reason I've waited is that we were in the middle of moving so 600$ was a big amount of money back in February.

This is what I'm sending, and would love it if someone could quickly see if we have everything we need. I know we might not have enough 'evidence' of our marriage, but I could honestly not care less if they surprise visited us at our home. We have nothing to hide. We just don't have a car or own a home. Or children. But we have 7 years together and yeah. Nothing fishy with our application or process so far.

    We’re enclosing the following:

    • Check in the amount of $590 for the application and biometrics fee
    • Copy of USCIS Form I-551 (Permanent Resident Card)
    • Additional letter that lists previous address

    Evidence of Bona Fide marriage:

    • Photos from our Wedding Ceremony in Sweden, from August 2014
    • Copies of our Joint U.S tax returns for the year of 2013 and 2014 (first page, since we didn’t want to send 108 pages.)
    • Copy of our Bank Statement of our Joint Savings Account
    • Copy of our airline ticket recipes of our vacation to Sweden over Christmas 2014.

  2. Well, yeah, I get that. But nowhere does it say you can pay it all on one check, they just say "It's 505 for the app fee. You also have to pay 85 for the biometrics". A better wording would be "Your process is gonna cost you 590$. Thank you." since there seem to be no way to circumvent the biometrics fee.

I never pay anything with checks anymore (it's 2015 for frick sake) but had one left so it's nice to know I don't have to get a new one from my bank. =)

Honestly, so frickin sick of this process already. Can't wait for it to be over with.

  3. Hey,

So me and my husband to be met two years ago and have been a bit on and off, but this summer we decided to become a couple since we are really much in love. We attended his brother's wedding, who was marrying my best friend, and after that, he proposed! We want a simple wedding with the closest people, but since we wanna stay in the states (he's the american citizen) we also wanna start this green card process for me as soon as possible.

We're both from the same country, but met in the states (although we traveled to our home country this summer together). We don't live together yet, although I'm planning on moving to him after New Years. We have very few pictures but some, and I guess we could share our mail convos and text messages, and we were thinking of opening a joint bank account together. i could also ask my mother and his brother to write us letters of "proof" or whatever. But apart from that, we don't have much 'evidence'. I was thinking of putting my name on his lease since I'm moving there anyway. What else can be done? Is it enough?

We want to get married so we can start our life together here in the states, but I'm currently on tourist visa (I've been a student for these past two years) but it's not something I've planned at all, and I'm honestly a bit shocked that he was willing to marry me after just dating for a few months, but we both feel that we must give "us" a chance.

So realistically, what is it that we should try to get to help strengthen our case? Except photos, what else? And the fact that I've been on a student visa for so long, will that affect this? I just don't want it to look suspicious.

    thanks for all the help!
