  1. Does it seem normal to have been at NVC for over 40 days without the case being sent to Nairobi? I have talked to them 2x and they just say that administrative work is being done to it before being sent. Just looking for some affirmation. Thanks!

I have a K1 visa in process at the Nairobi embassy as well. Our case was at NVC for about a month before they sent it to the embassy. I wouldn't worry too much just yet.

  2. My fiance and I are ready to make the payment for our visa application. When I tried to generate the MRV receipt to take with for the payment, it will not allow me to do so. It just states "there are no available appointments at this time." Does that mean we can't even make the application fee payment? I'm assuming this means January is all booked, and we have to wait for the calendar to open up for February before we can make the payment and schedule the interview. Is this correct?

    Thanks for any help!

  3. Hi,

I am in a similar situation. My fiancé is Rwandan but he must go through the embassy in Kenya for his interview. I'm not exactly sure about the unabridged birth certificate. But I do know that for my fiancé he must do his medical in Kenya by a specific doctor that the embassy assigns. He will have to get a police record only from Rwanda, not Kenya. I assume the same would be for you. You only need police records for any country you've lived in over six months. You should check out the specifics for the embassy in South Africa to be sure. http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=South%20Africa&cty=Johannesburg

    Good luck!

  4. We haven't scheduled the interview yet. Our case status says ready, but I haven't received any email/notification from the embassy. Did you receive something? Since we have a case a number we're planning to submit our DS160 and arrange for the payment this week so we will be ready to schedule once they open availability in January. Do you think this is okay? Thanks!

  5. What does the expiration date of an NOA2 exactly mean? Is that the date by which you have to apply (DS160 submitted), or is that the date by which you have to have an interview scheduled or completed? And what was your result, did you get a January interview set up? Thanks!

  6. Hi all,

My fiance and I received our NOA2 approval about three weeks ago. I'm getting ready to send him the paperwork he needs for his interview. But I need some advice for the affidavit of support. Currently, I make 238% of the poverty line so I am fine with the income requirement, however, I have only had this job for 8 months so it is not reflected on my last tax return (I was in graduate school last year so my income was low, about 98% of the poverty life for a family of 2). I do not have a joint sponsor. Will we be okay? Is it a good idea to supply a letter explaining my student status in the last year? Any advice?

    Thank you!
