  1. My fiance and I were just married under the K-1 Visa in the states and we're ready to apply for his Adjustment of Status. However I'm a bit stuck on the I-864, Affidavit of Support. I can't seem to find a comprehensive list of documents I need to supply with it (ie. tax returns, proof of income etc).

I'll also have a joint sponsor, so being able to tell them exactly what needs to be sent to me would be helpful.

Basically I want to do it right the first time. Can anyone help me out with this?

  2. It all depends on if the interviewer last words was with a "smile" or serious face. ;)

In my case I was at the interview alone and I was so petrified that I was not sure if I understood right that i was approved but then I remembered the lady was all smiling when she said I was approved and that she welcomes me to the US, etc etc etc. They usually say some welcome phrase and also remind you that you have to marry within 90 days of your arrival.

Surely they send him the visa in the passport along with the other documents in the same package.

My fiance says they she was smiling the entire time and he's pretty sure she was smiling when she said he was "Accepted and Approved". She also said something like "Enjoy your trip".

  3. We got the good news today at our interview! At least, we think we did, we're in shock and it feels too good to be true. My fiance was sure he heard "Accepted and Approved", and the consulate officer said that his documents would be returned to him within 2 weeks.

Does this sound like a successful interview? Would they keep his documents if he was denied?

Sorry for the random post, we're both excited and scared!

  4. So my partner and I have had something strange happen to us and we're wondering if anyone can explain why. About a week after we submitted our DS-160 to the embassy, he received a letter from them saying they were pleased to announce his Visa interview date and to check the Visa interview checklist.

The problem here is that we haven't submitted our Notification of Applicant's readiness yet, and now we don't know if we should. Could anyone shed some light on this for us?

EDIT: As a side question, his Vaccination Documentation Worksheet lists "K-1" under "Vaccine Given By Panel Site". What does this mean?

  5. I completely agree, we'd love to get these vaccinations done far before he comes over. I just need some clarification on one thing:

Does he HAVE to get the DS-3025 corrected before they courier it, or can he just go to his GP and get the proof to take to the interview? He lives quite a distance from Knightsbridge ad the journey would be financially taxing on us both, so being able to simply get the vaccinations locally would be easier if we can do it.

Thanks so much for the information!

  6. Name / Date / Ticked

    Tdap / Nothing / Nothing

    Td / K-1 / Nothing

DTP / Nothing / Not Age Appropriate

    MMR / K-1 / Ticked

    Vericella / VH / Ticked

    Influenza / K-1 / Not Ticked

The rest say Not Age Appropriate or Not Routinely Available. Then there is the hand-written note on plain paper he received:

    Dear Doctor/Nurse,

The above named patient currently registered in your care is applying for immigration in the United States. Under the US immigration and nationality act for immigration to America, they need to have the below vaccinations as part of their medical requirements for entry into the country.

The applicant has chosen to attend your surgery for administration of the following:

MMR x 2 If one dose has been given then please give second dose or proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella.

Proof Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio Vaccine given in the last 10 years or booster.

Proof given 2014/2015 Seasonal Flu Vaccine.

  7. So my fiance recently got his K-1 medical examination. The doctor requested a blanket waiver for a lot of the vaccinations, and on the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet it says "US vaccination requirements complete, requesting blanket waiver".

However the panel physician then handed him a note to take to his GP. It says that he either needs the records or the booster shots listed on the note (minor vaccinations, like flu shots, mumps and measles, chicken pox etc).

We're a little confused, since the official form states that we've completed the requirements but the unofficial note seems to hint that we need extra boosters and records.

    Any insight?

  8. Hello everyone, I'm sorry for bringing this thread back up but I have an emergency question.

My fiance and I had some snags getting our paperwork together. We're inches away from being able to submit our Notification of Readiness, but the validity of our Approval Notice (as stated in our I-797 Notice of Action) is the 25th of December (one week from now).

What happens if we miss this date? With only a week remaining would we even be able to save it? I heard somewhere that I would need to submit another Letter of Intent if we miss it, is that true and if so, is it the only step we'd need to take?

Prompt replies would be SOOOO appreciated, thank you all very much!

  9. Awesome, thanks so much for the information.

As a supplementary question: My finance and I were going over the Consulate letter he received. It says that his Priority Date was in August, but that it's valid for four months after. Does this mean I'll need to send him another letter of intent to marry, since the priority date has technically been passed? Or is the priority date four months AFTER August?

  10. My apologies, I've filled out my timeline to the best of my knowledge and set my information as well. My fiance is in England and will be using the London consulate.

(I'm assuming the country now listed under my name is for my fiance's visa. The United Kingdom is not my country of residency.)

  11. Hello friends, my name is Abraham (24, USA citizen). I'm somewhat new here, but will probably be frequenting the forums more often at this point. I know these questions have probably been answered before, but I've been unable to locate them on the forums.

My I-129F petition was recently approved and I'm moving onto the next steps of the process to bring my fiance to the USA, which of course includes helping my fiance get their Visa interview. One of the requirements is form I-134, which is specifically what I have questions about.

    1. I'm unable to meet the financial requirements for the I-134, so I need a joint sponsor. What sort of evidence does the joint sponsor need to submit (other than what is listed in the I-134 instructions)? Several people have told me that they will need to give me copies of their 1040 tax returns, proof of citizenship and a W-2.

    2. As I am unable to meet the requirements (I recieve disability, SSA and SSI), will I be required to submit supporting evidence? If so, what?

    3. Is the joint sponsor required to meet 100% OF the federal poverty line for their household, or be 100% ABOVE it?

    4. Later when we apply for a change of status, will the I-864 replace the I-134?

    5. Is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks so much ahead of time; this has been a very confusing journey and we're still learning. Perhaps one day I'll be helping others with my experience.
