  1. Thank you for your detailed reply. I feel better. Just to clarify one thing if I can. Is it best to just use the assets (bank account) if they alone make up the funds needed? I am of course submitting the three years of tax transcripts, but as the income fluctuates based on the market, I didn't know if it would be better to just leave everything else out and just qualify based on the money in my account, not the income it produces? It would seem simpler that way.

  2. So you know when you are certain everything is in order, but you still feel like you're missing something? That's how I am feeling with regards to the I-864. My partner is going to his interview this week and I filled out the I-864 before I came to the States. We are using savings from stocks and bonds, which in itself covers the 5X125% poverty guidelines. We also have our house that we own in the States and have the documents from the closing. Since I am currently looking for work, the only income I have is through investments and such. We have the previous 12 months statements from our bank here in the States (stocks, bonds and cash) that show over the past twelve months, the amount has been over the poverty guidelines.

This is all they're looking for isn't it? I mean I have the previous 3 years tax transcripts printed from the IRS site, which correlates to the savings obviously, but just really nervous I am forgetting something. It makes it so hard when I am here looking for work and reestablishing domicile and my spouse is doing this alone in the UK. Can anyone shed light on their experience with the interview in regards to the I-864?

Thanks for any help. This is so stressful!!! Our future life together all hangs on the interview this week!! EEEEK!

  3. Thanks!

So we just received our letter from the Embassy stating our LND number and that they have received our packet from USCIS and are now processing it. Can't really believe it as we only received the self addressed envelope from USCIS that our I-130 was approved 2 days ago!

Does this mean we can now book the medical and fill in the DS-260? Is this considered NOA 3?

    Thanks for everyone's help!

  4. Thanks Nich-Nick. Emailed USCIS today and they emailed me back within minutes to say they were still working on our I-130. I told him I was concerned we may have missed the date of birth for my partners mum and dad. He then emailed me back and said it has now been approved and they will post the NOA 2 today.

We are completely ready to go and have all of our documents in order so I was wondering if there was any way of expediting the rest of the process?? I know we now have to wait on the next packet to get the LND number, which I gather could take 3 weeks. However, do you think it would be wise to email the embassy before this time to get the LND? Also, with what you have seen, what are the usual wait times for the medical? Also, how much choice do you get in terms of the interview?

Thanks for all of your extremely helpful advice!!!

  5. We are waiting for our NOA 2 from the London embassy. Today was the first day the website has indicated they are 2 days past the day our I 130 was received for processing times. We have started to worry as we may have forgot to put my partners parents birthdays on the I 130. If we did, it would be a terrible oversight. How does it work if we have missed something like that? Would we have already known about it? As I said before, it's been over 5 weeks. Is it declined on that basis?

    Thanks for any help!!

  6. Well, working for a bank, we classify a resident as someone who spends at minimum 6 months physically in the country. I would assume your situation is quite unique as not many people spend such a short amount of time in the UK after the agonising UK visa process only to return so quickly. Personally, I would wait the 6 months out and then apply. Then you know for sure you would meet the requirements and not waste time or money.

I'm going to be blunt with you though, unless you feel there is an absolute emergency and you just can't stay, you should really stick it out. Everyone gets a culture shock when they make such a move. I sure did. But there was a reason you went through the whole process to come over here in the first place, right? The winter months can be dark and gloomy in Britain, but there are fun british things to do even in this weather. Experience pub culture, go see a pantomime, get involved in a club, take a train up to manchester and see the amazing Christmas market! This is an amazing opportunity and you may regret it if you don't give it a chance. Plus, I really think you're going to have to wait the six months, so enjoy it! You only live once!! :-)

Honestly though, either way, I wish you the best of luck!

  7. Hello!

My partner and I will be submitting the I-130 via DCF to London next month. We have already begun gathering things such as birth certificate and police records. My partner, a UKC, is also now up to date on all vaccinations. I have read that if you have everything together at the time of submitting DS-260, there is a way you can send everything in together?? Or am I just making that up? From what I read, this was if you had already been in contact with the Embassy in London and they had told you that you could submit documents early. Does anyone know the number for the embassy with regards to the immigrant visa?

I feel as though I am completely stressing myself out! I had to go through all of this when I, a USC, came to the UK and know having to learn the US route is extremely daunting!

    Thank you for any help!!!

  8. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am a USC and my partner is British. As we are in a civil partnership in the UK, we have to wait until December to transfer to a marriage, which we will do for immigration purposes. I have been made a job offer to start in mid January, which I would love to accept. If I file the I130 here in the UK, can I then leave for the states? And If so, would my partner continue the same process as if I were here? Would he encounter an problems by me leaving? What about the I 864? Do I fill that out before I leave? Thanks for any help!,
