Hello fellow petitioners, I am also in the same situation, and this is actually delaying my application because if I really need to submit my (petitioner) marriage cert and birth cert. I need to send the original or certified copy? I don't understand why we need to submit the marriage though since it doesn't have any bearing on the petition. Especially not the original or certified. So again my questions:
Do we need to submit original or certified copies of marriage and birth certificates?
What is the difference of birth certificate xerox copy of original and certified true copy?

Yes all originals. It should be in NSO papers.
I can assume per my experience that what NSO gives us in NSO paper is basically the certified true copy since you can get 100 copies of each and the main original is in their file. But somehow, people call that "original" since it is in NSO paper. That's the scenario in the Philppines. The terms may differ in other countries.

I know this is out of topic but probably old posters may come back and see it.
Well, my mom came in January 18th. February 6, she received the I-797 saying she will get her greencard within a month.
One month came it didn't arrive. Called USCIS confirming USPS picked it up. It got scanned in our local postal office as inbound. Never scanned out.
We went and talked to the local post office but supervisor said they can't really tell what happened to it. If they just missed to scan it out and got dropped to somebody else's mail box or got lost inside the facility.
All they can say is sorry.
I called USCIS and they said I need to file I-90 and pay $350. wow. not my fault it got lost!!
Anyone has experience with this? Is there a way around this fee?

My mother is 60yrs old, does she needs to get a police cetificate wherever she lived since she was 18yrs old. or she can get the one she is living now for last 4 yrs...
She needs a police clearance from wherever she stayed for 6 months.

. They have no idea the cost of living in the USA.
We are currently sending about 300 USD a month. This seems like a lot to us but it's not enough for them. Please give me some advice. Is this a fair amount, too much, too little??
How about make it $100 a month?
And tell your wife to talk to her family. They need to be grateful. If they can't.. just stop it all together.
I agree with some comments here that the "attitude" is more of a family values problem than of race.

Hi, can somone please update, NOA2 received,I130 approved 9-27-11. Also I will appreciate if somone can guide me what will be the next step and what forms,documents i should prepare in advance so can save time.

Hi Raaza,
You can call everyday if you wish until they give you the case number. It usually takes two weeks though so be patient.

Hello friends, please help me.... nvc send me a checklist to send the petitioners(mine) birth certificate and marriage certificate to approve DS 230
My questions....... why do the NVC need my marriage certificate and that tooo original one.....i am not the one who is immigrating...how is my original marriage certificate going to help with the filing process.
they also need my origina birth certificate
secondly how will i get the original certificate's back..

Send your original birth certificate and original marriage contract, as requested by NVC. And you'll go from there. I am not sure if they return original documents. It's not usual though so be ready for the worse.

You're correct. I don't see it anywhere mentioned on I-130 guidelines. However, it does make perfect sense to send in wife's marriage certificate. She obtained her citizenship through marrying a US Citizen (myself) so I am guessing they may want to see proof of her marriage. At the same time wife will be submitting her proof of US Citizenship so not sure it marriage cert is also required. I am confused*. There is also a question on I130 that states "are you a permament resident alien through marrying US Citizen"
"are you a permament resident alien through marrying US Citizen" - I-130 14.b "YES".
As for the marriage certificate question, the instruction says to show proof of name change. Wives usually change names after wedding so.

Hello All
My wife just became a U.S. Citizen and would like to petition for her parents.
Here are documents we have gathered so far:
1.Copy of wife's birth certificate showing her name and the names of both parents
2.Copy of wife's U.S Citizenship certificate (She just got the cert and we have not yet applied for a passport. It's being worked on)
3 Copy of her parents marriage certificate
4.Form I-130 filed separately for each parent
5.G-1145 for e-notification
Do we have any send any photographs (wife's or parents) ?ARE WE MISSING ANYTHING ? please kindly advise.
