Well .. I'm Michael and i met my girlfriend Lauren in 2002 or thereabouts, we both play an online game and thats basically how me first met .. we chatted in game for a while until she sent me an email one day .. sounds funny now i think back on it but thats how it all started ..
I replied to her email and we started to send mail backwards and forwards for a few months, eventually we moved on to calling each other and things began to develop more and more until romance crept in, not sure either of us expected it.
we spoke of hopes and dreams, things we look for in the opposite sex .. very thinly disguised interest and we both knew it :)
In july of 2003 we met for the first time in Cleveland, a number of the people we'd known in game for 2 yrs or so all got together in one place for a long weekend to finally "see" each other .. put names and faces to characters, by that time me and Lauren knew each other so well it progressed very quickly.
By the time it came for me to move on to visit a friend I knew in california we were already so close and wanted to be with each other so much that after a few days away from Lauren in California I hopped on a plane and flew right back to her. The rest of the time was spent with her getting to know her and her family.
discussions about a life together came naturally by that time, my heart was already devoted to her. Now 2 and a half years on weve talked about everything from Marriage .. where to live .. where to work even so far as talking children ( the number of which im still trying to persuade her over :).
Being so far apart for so long wasn't easy at first and i have to admit it gets harder to leave her everytime i see her but with technology today (and thank god for it) i see her every night although not in the way id like. Phone calls, webcam, letters, email you name it, I dont think we would have been able to make it so long without all of this.
There is a lot to be done before we take the plunge and start planning weddings but in the meantime im making sure i know what we need to be together permanantly in the US hence the reason for joing this site, I think between Lauren and myself we can overcome any obstacles standing in our way. If we can find Love across an Ocean and keep it alive .. Emmergrating over one should be easy in comparrison.
