My case was a bit complicated, so I hired a lawyer. I would have preferred online, but the lawyer just did paper applications so I just went with it. I imagine once the NOA comes with the notice number then I can follow the case on myuscis website anyway. 

Hello Everyone!

I applied via paper application on Feb 08, under the 5 year rule. Good luck to everyone! I havent received NOA1, but I see that paper applications might take 6 weeks for the first NOA. Hoping that the fast processing times trend continues. Are online cases significantly faster than paper ones?

I filed for ROC in September 2016. I got an approval email in February 2018 and my 10 year card in the mail. My USCIS online account also recorded that case history. This card has an expiry date for Feb 2028. 

I moved in July 2018 and changed my address on the USCIS website on July 10. On July 26, USCIS sent me a NOA saying my Green card ROC was still pending and that my conditional status was extended for another 18 months. This was sent to my old address. 

In August, they sent me a new green card to my old address. The new card is virtually identical, except now its a 10 year card that expires August 2018. Also has a different i551 no in the back (top left). My resident since date remains the same. 

USCIS online account doesnt have a record of the new card or approval NOA. 

I guess there are 2 issues - my address isnt updated on their system, and now I have 2 green cards with different expiration dates. My Alien number and resident since date is the same. 

I imagine this is new territory for most people so educated guesses on my situation and what I should do are welcome. I am tempted to do nothing as I have a receipt from USCIS confirming my changed address from July, and my A-number and resident since info is correct on both cards. I read about the recall issue for some people because they had the wrong resident since date printed on their cards, but thats not the case with me and I didnt get  recall notice either. Has anyone else had this issue?

BTW, I did not apply for N400 and only plan to in a couple of years time. 

NOA date Sept 20 2016 here. I got an email from USCIS saying card/document production and that my card was mailed on Feb 22. No other notification or letter from them before that. Will update once I get my card or any other letter from USCIS. 

Hi Guys, 

My NOA date is Sept 20 2016.I havent applied for N400. My I 1551 extension is valid till January 2019.

I havent heard anything from USCIS and Im getting a bit nervous. I am actually traveling for work at the moment and there is noone at home to check my mail. And I wont be able to go home until March 10th. It is possible that I have received a RFE. Is it possible to find out if I have gotten a RFE by calling USCIS?

Hi everyone,

I filed for ROC in September 2016. My NOA letter extends my green card till 12th Dec 2017. I am not traveling outside the country for a few months. Do I have to get a i551 stamp? I am hoping that my ROC approval goes through in a few months and then I wouldn't need the stamp. 

My passport has one page left (I travel a lot for work). I have applied for a new passport, but I wont get it till mid January. I have to travel outside the US in February, so I was planning to get a i551 stamp on my new passport before I leave in February (in case I don't have my 10 year green card in hand by then). Would I face any problems at USCIS if I went to get my new passport stamped in January for having that gap?

I'm exactly in the same situation as you - noise violation citation several years ago and now filing AOS, and wondering whether to answer yes or no on the arrest/fine question. 

 

Can you share if everything went okay at the interview? Did the officer question you or have any knowledge about your record? What's your advice - to disclose it on the application or not?

Hey. I Would say just go ahead and declare it. When I went for the interview I gave them the documents and explained what had happened and the officer just laughed and did not even follow up. Added to my file and that was that. I would not think about it twice and just say yes and add the documents. I did the same for ROC as well. 

Has anyone had any RFEs or any other news yet? I did my biometrics and havent heard anything from USCIS. What are the timelines looking like?

Hi all, my wife and I received her biometrics appointment yesterday (10/7/16) with an appointment date of 10/17/2016. Unfortunately my wife's mother has cancer so we will be out of the country during this time, so I am having to mail it back and get a rescheduled appointment. My plan is to just attach a small letter that explains the dates we will be out of the country and hope everything goes smoothly. Also, our case is being processed at the Vermont Service Center

I would suggest just doing a walk in asap. I got my biometrics letter mailed to my address in Florida, got it sent to California (im here for work) and walked in to the nearest ASC 2 weeks before my date and was in and out in like 10 minutes. Across the country and 2 weeks early worked.

Just try walking into the scheduled ASC (or any ASC really) first before you mail it back etc. Be polite and explain the situation and you should be fine.

I did a early walk in biometrics in a different state (original was Tampa, FL, I walked in Santa Rosa, CA). No problems whatsoever. Original Date was 10/11/16, I did it in 10/04/2016

My package was received on Friday, and the money left my account yesterday. Hopefully my NOA1 arrives soon!

When i did my biometrics for my initial AOS application, I was able to attempt a walkin to get my Biometrics done early. Is that an option with ROC? I'm hoping that it's an option if the appointment they give me doesn't easily fit with my work schedule.

I am planning to go early to a ASC in California once I get my biometrics letter, even though they will assign a Florida ASC because FL is my permanent address. Im in CA for a couple of months for work and then I go to Asia for another few months for work as well. Ill explain this when I try to do a early walk in in a different state. Hopefully it will work, Ill report back when it happens.

Package delivered this afternoon at CSC. Now the waiting game begins.

A question though. My 90 day window opened on September 13. I mailed the package on the 14. But when we signed the form, the date was the 8th of September, because thats when we were preparing and finalizing. Does anyone think this could pose a problem?

Are you in Washington DC? Did you file your i-751 to California? Washington DC filers should be filing to Vermont.

My case is complicated, but I just wanted to get some insight into one aspect of it.

Me (PR) and my wife (USC) went to Manila pretty soon after my conditional green card was issued. I got a job with a US based non-profit, and they set us up there. We changed our addresses to her dad's place in Colorado, and changed all our credit cards and bank accounts to that address as well. My work brought me back to the US every 5 months or so for a month each.

Now, while filing for ROC, I am in the US, filing jointly, with all the evidence (tax transcripts, credit cards, joint account with very minimal activity but whatever), is addressed in Colorado. I dont want to give USCIS the impression that I am claiming that I lived in that address the whole time, but also do not want to complicate matters if I dont need to at this stage.

What should I do? Should I explain in a cover letter that I was actually in Asia for most of the last 2 years? Also, for co-habitation proof, I have a lease from Manila with both our names on it, but I dont want to send that in because then I might get an overseas hold. But then I dont have a lease from the US to prove cohabitation.

Any advice would be appreciated! Also please refrain from catastrophic answers. I did not abandon status because I work for a US non profit, maintained US bank accounts, credit cards, paid US Taxes, maintained a US postal address in my name and was never out of the US for more than 180 days. I will be applying for ROC in September 2016. Also, my job which is based in California, wants to send me to Asia for a fixed term (6 months to 1 year) starting October. Can i apply for a re-entry permit when I apply for ROC? My plan, if possible, is to apply for ROC + Re-entry permit, get the NOA, and then go to Asia. I will maintain a mailing address in the US (my cousin's place). Any time I need to be back for Biometrics or Interview or what have you, I come back to the US. Any RFEs I can take care of from Asia. Will this work? Specifically, what is the official process for re-entry permit application together with ROC, if any?

Also important to mention: the work will bring me back to CA for 3 weeks in January 2017, and then in July 2017, so in a gap of about 3 - 5 months. But, I will be living in Asia, while maintaining US bank accounts and credit cards, mailing address, work HQ in the US and Insurance from US company.
