  1. Hello,

So..., GC without hyphen does not cause any trouble at the re-entry point with immigration, correct?

I just received my GC back after claiming "Renewal (Re-issue)" and months of waiting for the new card, because the card given to me in January had no hyphen in my married last name (between my old last name and husband's last name) and, instead they put a space.

They sent me a piece of paper saying that because USCIS system does not allow hyphens in names, they put a space and therefore it was not their error. They simply returned my card back as is.

    O-K-...

Well... I had my Japan passport display my legal US name which has "hyphened" last name added next to my JP original name in parenthesis() for the re-entry purposes. like.. Kimiko Yamamoto (Kimiko Yamamoto-Howard)

So, I want to know, my new GC with no hyphen won't cause any problem at re-entry...

  2. I got my 10-yr GC in Jan, but I filed I-90 because of USCIS error, went for biometrics in Feb, and waiting for my new GC.

I have a plan to fly domestic in November.

I will fly using an airline with which I already have my mileage account which I have my maiden name on. Because I've been using this airline for my international flights, I am keeping it as it is, therefore, I have to carry my JP passport even if for domestic flight as an ID when I use this airline.

Now, if I book my ticket with my passport name(maiden name) for my mileage and IF I DON'T receive my new GC by that time,

do they bother me about my GC or immigration status when I show my passport as my ID at TSA security check??

Last time when I flew to Oahu for my biometrics, I used my passport and no there was problem.

  3. My mistake.I'll re-post again...

Has anyone who filed for Replacement of GC since last September or somewhere around there got your new GC?

I received my 10-yr GC last December, however with a REALLY MINOR mistake on my last name by USCIS.

So, I filed I-90 Replacement of GC in mid-January 2015 and went for Biometrics(Again!!) in mid-Feb and haven't got my 10-yr card yet.

I called USCIS and every time, got the same answer that they're taking time for I-90 process.

Last time I called about a little over month ago, I was told that they're still processing I-90 that were applied in September 2014, which means it's taking about 8-9 months.

From what they've told me, I am assuming I'll receive it by mid-Oct....(??)

Is this normal that, after your biometrics, you just have to be patient and wait? No letter, no nothing until you receive your GC?

My granted 1-yr period ends in mid-October. From what they told me, I am assuming I'll receive it by mid-Oct....??

What if the card doesn't arrive by my mid-Oct deadline??

  5. Hi,

I got my NOA1, stating my GC had been extended a year,

and also just got NOA2 for biometrics app. on Oct 22nd.

The expiration date of my 2-year GC is mid December, so still got plenty of time.

In the middle of November, I and my husband are going to Japan for 15 days.

Q1: So, when I'm going to Japan next month, All I need to bring with me is my Passport, NOA1, my current valid GC, correct?

    (No "INFOPASS" thing needed, right?)

Q2: At the biometrics app, do they do something on the passport or GC, like, put a stamp on that explains "1 year extension granted" ?

(Somebody was writing on her blog that her GC got a punch hole at her biometrics!! Seriously?)

They won't confiscate my valid GC, will they?

Q3: By the way, When exactly does my extended residency status expire??

Does my NOA1 mean that my current GC is still valid until the exp. date on it and after the exp. date, I still have 1 year? or...

Does it mean I have 1 more year from the date that USCIS received my I-751&documents, regardless of the exp. date on my current GC??

  6. Thank you S_R, John Frank, a & a,

    I see.

I have been searching for experiences of walk ins to Honolulu service center on the internet and looks like many people have done walk in for Biometrics on earlier dates than their scheduled date.

Some people say that Wednesdays are good for walk in Biometrics at Honolulu service center.

Is it true? How about Monday, Tuesday, Thursday? I see that the center can be crowded towards weekends.

Does anybody have idea on this??

I'm flying to Honolulu from neibor island, so I don't want to be denied when I get there after all the hassle...

  7. Hi, I am about to file my I-751 soon.(in Hawaii)

I appreciate if anyone can help me on my questions regarding Biometrics (Well, I haven't even filed I-751 yet, but...)

What if I can't make it on the appointment date?

Can I designate the date that I want to go for Biometrics in some way?

If I can't, then what if the date that was re-scheduled by USCIS turns out a bad day for me again?

Also, is there anyone who knows if Honolulu center accepts walk-in for Biometrics?

    Thank you
