  1. Hello lovely people, I am awaiting our I 485 adjustment of status interview. We had originally rescheduled our first one from August due to unexpected travel. Long story shorter, case was closed (by error of uscis) then reopened in November. They said we will be told when green card interview is. Since all this we are still waiting to hear about interview. Sooooo nervous that the letter will get lost in the mail or something! So my question is.,, When you go on uscis check my case status online if the interview is scheduled will it show interview details on the check my case status? Currently it still shows the case reopened since November. Thank you so much

  2. Hi I am so grateful for this site. StRting to get nervous for long awaited AOS interview. Not about anything except documentation. We sent in our I864 back in May with everything u needed to, I didn't get RFE or anything. But now that it's coming closer to interview I feel worried. I used a co sponsor as I'm a student. But I sent everything in so I'm praying I don't have to bring any more info. Let me stop rambling lol, my question is...

Do I need my (I'm US citizen) birth certificate for interview?

Since I have submitted all my original i864 documents when I sent the package in, is there anything else I need to bring regarding income etc, or will those from my co sponsor still be the papers I need?

Is there a list of anything I need for AOS interview?

    Thank uuuuuu

  3. I rescheduled my August 11th appt for my husbands AOS. I had plane tickets bought to be out of country. I received an email back about 10 days b4 interview saying request to reschedule granted. Fast fwd. to October...they send an abandonment of interview that he was permanently denied unless we could find fault with uscis and appeal within 30 days of the date on letter (by time we got the letter it was 20 days) . Had to make infopass appt for the only open time slot in that 30 day window. Brought copies of email correspondence with the approval to reschedule. They had no record of it, from what we were told, had a nice lady who went the extra mile and spoke to her supervisor. She wasn't sure but she felt good about it since we had email proof. Had to appeal to reopen case. Spent another month biting our nails waiting. By end of November we received notice that they agreed to reopen case and we will be notified the interview date. It's February no interview notice yet. Moral of story SKIP THE TRIP!!!! trust me I understand how difficult that must be but it's really really risky to skip. Good luck

  4. Feeling so stupid! I requested to have my AOS interview August 11 postponed because I had already purchased tickets overseas in June for the date then a month b4 the date, they send interview date for the week of my trip. I got a letter from local uscis approving the interview reschedule so I said fine went on trip.

Now ff to October and we just got a letter from uscis that we are denied I-485 due to abandonment. To make things worse, we just spent the last 4 hours searching my house for the supposed letter now I'm psyching myself out because I'm like "are we imagining this reschedule approval?" I know we can't be but why can't we find the letter?! We are getting along great and planning a bright future. Our baby has two loving parents. I can't move to his home country in west Africa due to many reasons, especially im in med school. My husband (the beneficiary) is crying on the couch about what would happen if he can't see me and the baby anymore. Our whole world seems crushed. And this sucks because it's midterms next week (I know this seems minor but I'm finding it impossible to focus). Please someone give us hope!!!!! Please tell me he won't get deported! Please give us some advice!

He is here on K1 visa, arrived in March, married in April, and sent 485 in May.

  5. Hi there thanks for an advance for your responses.

I was wondering about the adjustment of status interview I just got informed it's scheduled for August 11 but I , the U.S. Citizen &the petitioner, will not be in the United States for that week. It's too expensive to change the tickets for me. So I'm wondering if I call and have them put in a service request to reschedule what are the consequences what does not having an AOS mean? And is having bought tickets to out of the country A legitimate excuse for rescheduling?

  6. No :(

we have a photocopy in Africa that could be faxed, but I'm sure he needs original :(

Sucks I wish I would have known all this

I was hoping it was different county by county and that Chester would be more lenient than philadelphia abs I could just drove there.

Will be sad to call off wedding my parents are very involved in the process they are going to be sad too. Geez, hope this doesn't affect his AOS

  7. Hi thank you all so much for the helpful information.

Darnell...I saw the link you gave me for Chester county and I don't see that it asked for a birth certificate anywhere on there.do you think that I could just get a marriage license in Chester County with a passport only from him?

.I'm asking because our wedding is supposed to be April 6 I did not realize he was supposed to give his photocopy at point of of entry.I really appreciate your help thanks!!

  8. I'm so confused my fiancé had his interview on February 25 and they seemed like everything went well.they gave him a green receipt and told him to come back today they kept his passport etc. I just discovered from searching around while I wait for him to return from the embassy and call me that there is a website CEAC so I put in his case number and it said administrative processing February 26 what does this mean??? is there A possibility that they will not recieve his visa today or do you think that's just something that it just says?

  9. Hi my fiancé is scheduled to arrive this Wednesday morning from west Africa, I am wondering if there is any forms to fill out on plane? Like how we have customs forms? The only thing he traveling with is a pair of jeans, and some photos and also about ten yards of African fabric I asked him to bring me (each yard is a different color and they cost about 3.00 each) and a dashiki for me and the baby and himself. Is that something he would have to claim? How can I give that advice? His first time flying

  10. It seems on all the reviews there is a separate room for K1 at jfk. Since he never flew b4 I suggested "when the plane lands follow the crowd of people to a big room for customs, there will be a long line (especially because from past experiences, most of the travelers on flights from west Africa are not U.S. citizens) in the visitors line, so when u enter that room instead of jumping in that line ask an officer where you should bring the envelope" after immigration you should find someone to help direct you to your connecting flight as soon as possible"

    Does that sound clear enough?

  11. Yeah in starting to question my decision for having him go thru jfk to Philly. We both just thought it was best because although I nace that drive 1,000 times to nyc it's due to arrive at 5:30 am and I have a newborn baby he hasn't met her yet either and 5:30 am in airport seems cruel to drag the baby out in the cold and take that trip with all the trucks on the turnpike at night. Whereas when it arrives in philly it's 9:30 am and my extended family will join me.

The concern is that the layover is 2 hours and 57 minutes and it's a west African flight so will be lotssss of non citizens.

From what I have gathered, jfk seems to have some other room for K1 holders, so may I suggest to him to follow the crowd towards customs, but not to jump in line with everyone else, to instead ask immigration officer where he should take the envelope to??
