Hello I am about to submit my wife's paperwork for AOS and was wondering if I should put her new married last name as the family name. We went to Social Security to change her last name but they said we could not do and we needed to complete this through USCIS. Thanks.

Yeah I paid $1300 for my ticket for 7/7/06. This was the most expensive ticket I have ever purchased going to Brazil. I could not believe it was more expensive then the ticket for Christmas and New Years. I go through a travel agent and she said that July is the most expensive time of the year to fly.
-
Could it have changed now?
I don't know but they told me this in late May.

In order to hand deliver your Packet 3 you have to make an appt with the consulate. When I was in Rio I wanted to hand deliver everything but they soonest date they could give was like 2 weeks away. I just sent everything to them and called back in to get my interview date.

Hello
Long story but to get to the point...Here we go...
I have an aunt that has a vendetta to ruin my life. She has left a message for me stating so. She knows I am in the process of obtaining K1 visa for my fiance in Brazil. She is starting to say that she is going to do do everything she can to ensure my fiance does not obtain her visa. I am just really starting to get nervous. We've received our NOA2 and we are currently waiting for our interview date. Does anyone know if she really can do something? Everything is legit and all we want is to be together but this person has serious mental issues and is trying cause me and my fiance alot of grief and heartache. I have an immigration lawyer and he has said this sort of thing happens often but is usually an ex-wife or girlfriend. Am I just worrying too much or do I really have a reason to worry. Has anyone experienced or heard of a similar issue? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,
Well I have submitted my Packet 3 yesterday and was wondering if anyone can give me a link to the webpage on Consulate website that lists interview dates for pending cases. I've looked all over their site and can't seem to find it.
Thanks

Does anyone know what "CORRESPONDENCE" reference is for?

Just wondering how did everyone find out their petition had been received by the consulate? Should I ask the NVC for a tracking number of the package or just call the Consulate every few days? I'm just trying to keep up on where the petition is as much as possible.
Thanks

I am waiting and I am from 4/24. I read a thread stating that all approvals after March were getting rechecked due to the Marriager Broker Act even if you did not meet through one of those services. I hope this is just one of those VJ rumors. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Just got my NOA2 4/24

Got back from Brazil this morning and the first thing I did when I got home was log into USCIS expecting to see the the same thing that I have been seeing for the past 3 months and there it was APPROVED 4/24!!! I couldn't believe it. Called Carla to wake her up and give her the good news she was half asleep screaming how happy she was and if she was dreaming. Well it looks like the CSC is definately speeding up or atleast it just feels like it. I hope the CSC keeps speeding up for everyone else waiting.

Is it me or does it seem like the CSC has almost come to a complete halt in the past 3 weeks? I remember about a month ago it seemed like there were anywhere from 5-10 vjrs a week receiving NOA2's. Now it seems as if we are lucky to get 3 in a week. Maybe I am just over reacting because I am getting a little restless but almost feels like all the service centers have slowed down tremendously. I remember in February and March the board would get daily posts from multiple people receiving NOA2's from all the service centers. Just wondering if anyone has heard any news or anything in relation to the processing timeframes. Thanks for reading my little rant.

But that´s not until the interview, right?
I may be wrong but I think you need it at the time of filing. I have a different list of documents we need to obtain once the NOA2 has been received. But please keep in mind I just gave my lawyer what he requested from me and I am not sure if everything he requested was needed at the time of filing. I am sure more then a few VJrs could let you know when the Birth Certificate is needed. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

I thought the benefitiary didn´t need to send their birth certificate?
Yes a copy is required along with a Certified Translation if it is not in English. Atleast that is what my lawyer asked me to submit.

go to tel3advantage.com you get about 58 minutes for just 5 dollars. I call my fiance to her cell phone in the dominican republic for $0.085 per minutes for 100 dollars I get 1176 minutes. So far I havent found any cheaper one.
This is the best deal I've found and it has saved me a ton of money. You need to have either DSL or Cable Internet. Its Voice over IP (VOIP). I did a bit of research and this was the best one I found. www.broadvoice.com . I pay 24.95 a month for Unlimited talk time to Brazil. The quality is better then the calling cards I used to use. You get a monthly phone bill which is also great so you can show proof of relationship. I checked out Vonage and thought they were expensive. This the only company I found that offered an Unlimited talk time plan. You can call pretty much any country in the world without having to pay extra the only thing is that when you call a cell phone you have to pay extra. Hope this helps.

Congrats!

Yes there should be a number beginning with WAC on the back of your cashed check. That will be your case number you can then go online to www.uscis.gov to see your case status. Welcome to the waiting game!
-
Yes that would be very helpful

I just hit the link on VJ and I see 12/31. Lets hope...
-
Hi could you add me to the list?
Thanks

warning: do not use onesuite! <<< garbage! we need a better call card, suggestions anybody? u.s. - philippines call, has to be clear... and cheap=P tee hee
Why do you think Onesuite is garbage? Have used it since 2001 to call the Philippines and have yet to have a problem. Unlike most calling cards you get the minutes you pay for, no connection or maintance fees. Plus for K-1 filers there is a log of the calls you have made that can be printed.
i have used it with no issues...and good connection...
if you have Paypal you'd love the convenience of Talkloop.com. click below.
www.broadvoice.com
By far the best in my opinion You need to have a Highspeed Internet Connection. The connection is crystal clear and I pay $25.00 a month for unlimited calls to Brasil.

P.S. For all you Brazilians out there....don't you miss the Brazilian churrascos and the SKOL beer? I just went to a festa today and thought about how different it is than the BBQ's in the U.S....ate logo
I am not Brazilian but yes, Eu muito soldade de churraasco, feijoes e tambem SKOL - e mais de meu noiva. (excuse my poor Portugues)
Please let us know what you find is the cheapest / best way because I will soon be flying back soon.
thnks
- also, if you need to fly to a hub check out Oceanair and Grol if you dont mind flying prop and transfering from a domestic airport.

I sent our package in on 11/30/06 and got the email 01/26/07 stating that our AOS was approved and the card had been ordered. It seems that when your case is transferred to CSC you get approved fairly quickly and you don't get interviewed.
